The book was friggin’ awesome!
Let me preface by stating that this is my first book by Nashoda Rose. I came to know about this book because it was a recommendation by a fellow book lover.
I am always great at figuring the plot ahead of the divulge. Wow I did not see that one coming.
I love the graphic symbols and their backstory. This is non stop action from beginning to finish! It delivers all the great elements of a modern James Bond book. Just loved it all.
It was a wonderful realization that this book is part of a larger series so I am in the process of reading “Tear Asunder” and “The Unyieldiing” series to catch myself up and to come to know the backstory of the characters in the Irish Crown book. I especially am looking ahead to the release of the next two books in 2019!
“Sometimes people need to take the wrong path in order to lead them to the right one.”
I discovered Nashoda Rose in January of 2014 when I was introduced to her Tear Asunder series. It blew my mind and I’ve been a big fan ever since. I can’t get enough of her alpha males who don’t need all the words to get their point across very clearly. I can hear them in my head and just melt into a puddle of goo every time…sigh.
Deaglan is a big, muscled, tatted up manwhore with a sexy Irish accent. He doesn’t do more than one night and he doesn’t share personal information with his hookups. He doesn’t do feelings unless it’s with his family and close circle of friends. He never intended to see her again. But you know how that worked out, right?
He wasn’t her type, at least he hadn’t been before. He wasn’t refined and polite and he didn’t wear a suit. Nope, he was a caveman that favored combat boots, and his muscles had muscles, and ink. He was protective and sweet, when he wasn’t being bossy.” She doesn’t do one night stands, but who could resist all that? Not me, that’s for sure. She never intended to see him again. But you know how that worked out, right?
How I loved being reunited with some of my favorite characters. Some of them make Deaglan seem tame in comparison, but that was before her safety was threatened. Yeah, bad guys meet badass, and he has backup. Prepare to swoon over all the muscle and then buckle your seatbelt because it’s a dangerous and exciting ride that you won’t want to get off of. I sure didn’t.
Now that I know who will be getting their own story next, I’m beside myself with excitement. He’s the baddest of the badasses and he doesn’t smile. I can’t wait to meet the woman who changes that. I’ve already been doing some mental matchmaking and I have my fingers crossed I guessed it right. The line forms here…
I’ve been a Nashoda Rose fan for years. She’s given me some unbelievably dark and angsty tales of woe that I can’t get enough of. I’m not a huge fan of angst, but these books have these barely perceptible glimmers of hope woven throughout the story that keep me not only turning the pages but reaching for the next book.
Irish Crown is loosely connected to both the Tear Asunder Series (Killian from Kept From You is Deaghan’s brother) and the Unyielding Series. You do not have to read those to read this one but they all are great books well worth considering, although they are pitch dark, full of angst and heart pounding suspense.
Expecting a whole helping of that angst and woe, I dove into Irish Crown but only after I’d prepared myself for the worst. Really, I should have paid more attention because Irish Crown clocks in at least a hundred pages less than most of the other books connected with it which means the characters weren’t quite as fleshed out, and neither was the plot. That doesn’t mean the book wasn’t good, it was— just not what I had expected.
Deaghan provides most of the dark with his past and the secrets he’s keeping. Eva, too, has some dark spots marring her history, but nothing like Deaghan, or so she thought. The shorter length of the book meant that we didn’t get near as dark of a plot as I expected, which was both good and bad. As much as I wanted it to, things moved so fast that I had a hard time believing in the connection between Deaghan and Eva. They just never felt solid to me, even at the end.
I did have a bit of an eye roll going at the huge coincidence related to the suspense angle. As I read, I hoped that what I suspected wouldn’t come to pass, but it did. What saved the book for me was that the last fifteen percent completely made up for it. It blew past “edge of your seat” suspense and went straight to proverbially knocking you straight off that seat and I ate that shizzle up.
I also loved getting some time with the men from the Unyielding Series and finding out how their lives turned out. They are living the dream and if anyone deserved it, it was those couples. Every time a baby was mentioned I was doing little fist pumps in my head.
This wasn’t what I thought I was getting when I opened the book to the point I had to reset my expectations. What it ended up being was an enjoyable, sexy, quick read, with the action I crave and a great finale. I will definitely pick up the next one when it comes out and in the meantime, I may do some re-reading.
4 You Can’t Always Get What You Want, but… Stars
Great story. Recommend reading!!
Enjoyed the characters and the pacing of this story. Great read.
I freaking LOVED Irish Crown so so much. Nashoda Rose never disappoints me and always finds a way to lure me in with her well written and intriguing books. Irish Crown’s storyline is engaging, consistent and very tantalizing. Deaglan and Eva are excellent characters and their story was so much more than I expected. Irish Crown can definitely be read as a stand-alone and I was pleasantly surprised to see the characters from the Unyielding series make an appearance. Also, the secondary characters in Irish Crown were unforgettable, they definitely have a backstory, I want more of them and I can’t wait to read their books.
Great Book! I was so excited to read this book after reading the series and I wasn’t disappointed!
There is nothing better than a brooding alpha male that can be absolutely terrifying when needed and yet melt into a pool of goo when in the presence of the woman he loves. Ad to that the fact that he wears special forces clothes and he is Iris, and you have the perfect book boyfriend t fall in love with. And that is exactly what you get with Deaglan. I love his story and it got me in tears half of the book. Eva couldn’t be more perfect for him, and adding the fact that you get to see VUR in action, well this makes the prefect follow up story. My thoughts after reading this, everyone should have a Deaglan in their life.
“Sometimes people need to take the wrong path in order to lead them to the right one.”
Deaglan is complicated. He’s a man haunted by his past. His past dictates his choices. His life is about vengeance. He finds people and does what needs to be done.
Eva got away from an abusive past and now she wants to make a new life. She’s all about helping other woman overcome and heal. She fought to start over and never expected Deaglan to become a part of her life.
To Deaglan, she’s his rare surprise. She’s everything. It was only supposed to be one night! The life he leads doesn’t include loving a woman or relationships. All that changes when Eva’s safety comes into question and all Deaglan’s rules…well, he’s a rule breaker anyway.
Each is everything the other needs. Their connection and attraction is incredibly hot, in between all the action and drama that unfolded. A crazy ex with a vendetta makes for an exciting start to their relationship. Deaglan and his all alpha protective side is way too sexy. Their chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS!!! We got to catch up with the guys at VUR, which was an absolute pleasure. I look forward to more of these sexy, badasses!!
Deaglan is my Rare !!
What a book it was AMAZING !! Ive been waiting for a book from this author is ages. So when I knew this book was coming I was so so happy. Deaglan and Eva’s story is just so good. They have both had there fair share of bad times and Deaglan isn’t the easiest guy to deal with. But this sexy Irish guy had me melting from the first page. He is super alpha and so protective. He doesn’t do relationships he just does the once rule. But meeting Eva had him in a tail spin she was his Rare and once was never goin to enough.
Eva is a brilliant character. The things she has been through is crazy. She isn’t the timid girl she used to be years ago. She is now strong and sassy and won’t stand with the crap from any man. She has been there and done but no more. So when she had finally let her guard down to this hot sexy Irish guy she thought things were looking up. But this is Eva and things don’t alway go easy. Deaglan wasn’t goin to be a guy that would just walk all over her. She would just kick his back side well try anyway. The only thing was one night with Deaglan wasn’t so easy to forget.
Like I said this book was just brilliant I luvd every part of it. The story was so good. It has everything in it. Deaglan and Eva are so hot together with he sexual tension is alway steamy with them. They also make a really good couple to. She make him better and calms him in a way and Eva needs a guy like Deaglan after what she has been through she doesn’t need any more drama and he will protect her no matter what. I would highly recommend this book. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book I was dying to know what was goin to happen. The twists made it so good and seeing some of the other characters from past books just made it even better. There are a few characters that I’m dying for more of so I m really hoping for more of them. Just so I can get more of My sexy Irish guy.
I’m a huge fan of Nashoda Rose’s Tear Asunder series as well as her Unyielding series. There’s just something about Rose’s no bullshit alpha males and how they claim and protect those they love, refusing to allow anything to touch them and fighting like hell for payback if anything does. Every single one of her heroes are broken in some way, but they’ve learned to channel the rage and torment that consumes them making bad men pay and working to be better men for the women who own them, body and soul.
As soon as I was introduced to Deaglan Kane, I knew that Rose would take her time exposing his layers and revealing exactly why he is the man he is – one who doesn’t get attached…one who is only with a woman once…one who’s built such an impenetrable wall around his past and his heart that no one has the knowledge or the strength to try to knock it down. But I also knew that once he found the woman who would make him go against all of his rules that he would do anything to experience her rarity…her stubbornness…her resilience…her love.
But even though I rationally knew that Deaglan’s past dictates much of his present, meaning that there was a reason for his callousness, his actions in the story’s initial scene still DID NOT sit well with me, especially given how it was such a significant step for Eva to put herself out there like she did, so the fact that his actions made her feel like garbage make me unimpressed with the man who was meant to be the hero of Irish Crown.
I really liked Eva from the start, and it made sense that she would pick someone the exact opposite of her abusive ex to finally take a chance on, and even though his response after their time together left her feeling discarded and used, the impression that they left on each other made it seem like their connection wasn’t over, and as the story continues that idea solidifies and what started between Eva and Deaglan grows into something Deaglan never knew he wanted but now knows he’s unwilling to live without, but what that means for his secrets and the dangerous life that he lives is still a point of contention, especially when his past and his present intersect, meaning that how Deaglan proceeds will either cost him Eva or potentially his life.
Irish Crown fits perfectly into the type of storytelling and character development that readers have come to expect from Nashoda Rose, and I loved catching up with some of my favorite characters from her other two series. And I’m happy to say that by the time Deaglon finally shares his whole story with Eva and with readers, I clearly understood why he was the man that he was and why his feelings for Eva, at first, scared him but after made him determined to set things right with her, switching his focus to what mattered most – protecting and keeping Eva and turning the boy and man he was into one who deserved the rarity that Eva is.
4.5 Poison Apples
I was savoring this book. I knew once I started, it would end. I never want Nashoda Roses’s books to end. She is gifted to be able to tell stories. She draws you into the books. You sort of become a character. I own ever last one of her books and she never dissapoints. Her books are worth the wait. I loved Deaglan and Eva’s story. But if he called me pet, I would punch him. NOT. I can recommend this book with all honesty. Nashoda Rose you did well. Again. Thank you for telling these stories
Eva’s coming off an abusive relationship when she meets a tatted up Irish hottie and goes home with him. It was the best night of her life so the last thing she expected was for him to rush her out the door, saying,
“Pet, I have shit to do.”
God, poor Eva, she has shitty taste in men! And to top it off, she gets attacked while she’s walking away from the cab Deaglan so graciously called for her. And now? Now, days later, the man has the nerve to come charging into her hospital and demand to talk to her about the mugging. After blowing her off the morning after, he has got a lot of freakin’ nerve.
Deaglan isn’t a complete man. He’s done horrible things in his past, things he had to do, and now he lives his life taking down the same kind of men who made his life such hell before. He’s not one for love or relationships, but there’s something special, something rare about Eva that has him breaking all his rules for her.
“Baby, I broke every fuckin’ rule in my book the second I walked up to you.
Did it anyway.”
Eva will have to decide if she can handle being with a man who only gives her pieces of himself. She’s in love with him regardless, but will she allow herself to be in a relationship with a man who doesn’t give his whole self to her?
“But loving Deaglan would be crushing. Destructive. Ruining.
Because you’d never walk away from loving a man like Deaglan whole.
He’d keep pieces of you.
The important pieces you’d never get back because they belonged to him.”
Irish Crown is one of those stories that will probably stick with you days after you’re finished reading. It’s so emotionally satisfying, even though I did more than once want to scream at Deaglan, alpha male that he is. He was really damaged, and it affected how he treated Eva. I can appreciate how and why she stuck around, although I sometimes felt like she deserved better. Deaglan really came through in the end, though, and I was cheering, because I’d fallen for him a little by then. I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series, but this one really made a fan out of me, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more of not only this series, but more of this author in general.
Holy Alpha Hotness Batman !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Irish Crown is sexy, suspenseful and so so good. Deaglan Kane will rock your world. Protective, Possesive and Positively sinful, this storyline was a page turner for sure and had me reading way past my bedtime. I had trouble falling asleep afterward my adrenaline still going and at 2am I wanted to go and reread another book from Nashoda Rose because I wasn’t done enjoying her world just yet.
Fantastic read. Definite recommend.
4.5 “Rare” Stars!! Wow!! Deaglan, definitely alpha, definitely sexy and oh so swoon worthy! The Irish in him just adds to his character. Eva is trying to overcome her past when they meet. Twist and turns along with a hint of suspense keeps you hooked until the end. Love all the supporting characters. Can’t wait for Vic and Tyler’s stories. I highly recommend this read!
Deaglan and Eva were completely unexpected. These two seem so different, him a bad arse with tats and an alpha aura. Her a good girl nurse and meant to help ppl. But they both seem to have more in common then they think. These two are completely explosive together, and make u want to turn the page faster than u can read, it’s that good. I couldn’t get enough of these two, i devoured this book.
5 MASSIVE STARS
If anyone can write a story with the hero being an extremely hot and brooding alpha male it’s Nashoda Rose and she does it amazingly well.
After an amazing sex filled one night stand Eva is practically turfed out of Deaglan Kanes apartment after he tells her he’s got stuff to do. He does however call her a cab but Eva waits until he’s gone back inside and tells the driver she doesn’t want a ride. This results in a mugger trying to steal Eva’s bag but she fends him off and gains a few bruises in the process. A couple of days later Deaglan turns up at the hospital where she works demanding answers after seeing what happened on his surveillance system. Eva thought it was just a random attack in a dodgy neighbourhood but Deaglan seems to have worked out a different answer so now he wants to protect her. Deaglan has many secrets and skeletons in his closet that Eva has yet to find out, so things are about to get explosive.
This book has to be in my top 5 for 2018. Nashoda Rose has a knack to her writing that leaves a reader unable to put the book down for any length of time. I read it in one sitting and was left with a bit of book hangover once I reached the end. It was simply brilliant. The characters were strong and held their own especially with each other, which meant the chemistry between them was raw, gritty and electric appeasing any reader no end. The story itself was angsty with a lot of action packed intensity and I simply just couldn’t get enough.
If you have never tried a Nashoda Rose book then totally get on this one. Some of the guys from her Tear Asunder series made an appearance in Irish Crown but you don’t have to read those before reading this.
Every time I read a book by this author I fall in love again! The characters just jump off the pages and I have to keep turning the pages because I HAVE to know what’s going to happen next! Irish Crown was no different! Oh, and who starts a book with a scene like that? Talk about reeling the reader in!!! WOW, was that HOT!!! By the end of the prologue I wanted to smack Deaglin upside the head. But it didn’t take long before I absolutely fell in love with both Deaglin and Eva. Nashoda Rose has a knack for writing the most broken, protective, perfectly imperfect alpha males. And her h’s are always strong, beautiful women. This book was no different.
And, of course, getting to touch base with so many characters that readers have fallen in love with in the past (that I have fallen in love with and missed) just adds to all the feels this book will give to anyone who reads this author regularly, as I do. I highly recommend this book and this author!
Nashoda Rose has done it AGAIN! She has brought her A game to the table and the gavel has been slammed down! Damn girl I missed your writing so much I miss those fun loving boys from Tear Asunder but you brought it with Deaglan.
Deaglan is a man who is a hard man who has had a hard life. So he lives life like no ones business by having one night stands being a manwhore who does not give a shizz about anyone but himself and getting off. Then he has a one night stand with a fiesty woman and she changes everything for him. She is one bas a$$ mother working and living her life until the day she met Deaglan.
When they get together one night something happens to her and Deaglan is determined to find out what happened and protect her but she wants nothing to do with him. She tries to stay away from him but he is determined to make her his but can his past destroy his future? Can he pulled his shizz together enough to grab the girl he wants and keep her?
“Deaglan was like jumping off a cliff. Knowing the end was going to hurt, but leaping anyway because everything before landing was worth it.”
What a wild ride this book was!! It had just about everything you could ever want in it!! Sexy Irish bad-boy with heart of gold with a past, and just all around yumminess!! The action and twists were off the charts, and I honestly didn’t want to put it down. These two were fire and I loved every second!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“Because you’d never walk away from loving a man like Deaglan whole. He’d keep pieces of you. The important pieces you’d never get back because they belonged to him.”
