Includes the story “1922”–now a Netflix original film starring Thomas Jane and Molly Parker. Four unforgettable novellas that explore the dark side of human nature from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King. “Does anybody really know anybody? Before tonight she certainly would have thought so.” In “1922,” a violence awakens inside a man when his wife proposes selling off the … awakens inside a man when his wife proposes selling off the family homestead, setting in motion a grisly train of murder and madness.
A mystery writer is brutally assaulted in “Big Driver” by a stranger along a Massachusetts back road and plots a revenge that will bring her face-to-face with another stranger: the one inside herself.
In “Fair Extension,” making a deal with the devil not only saves a man from terminal illness but also provides rich recompense for a lifetime of resentment.
Finally, the trust forged by more than twenty years of matrimony is irrevocably shattered when a woman makes a chance discovery leading to the horrifying implications of just who her husband really is in “A Good Marriage.”more
The four stories in this book are a treat for lovers of creepy tales with a twist. Each one has a different play on what retribution means and how as they say “somehow the universe always evens out”.
Love this short story collection – Stephen King never disappoints!
Each of the stories in Full Dark, No Stars is an intense and horrific view of the “other man” inside every one of us who comes out under duress. Every story begs the question, what would it take for your “other” to come out? I enjoyed how these stories ratcheted up in intensity from beginning to end, leaving us with a quiet feeling of dread. Four …
Despite the disturbing nature of all four stories, I became engrossed with them all, appreciating once again Stephen King’s skills as a writer. I’ve always enjoyed his shorter works, and this collection does not disappoint.
Second Fav
I love it.
Fabulous!
Of all of King’s Works this is my favorite. If I had only one book to sustain me in the solitude of my own deserted island this would be my pick. The stories are clean, crisp, and entertaining. All you need.
1922 is the best!
This is easily my favorite of Mr. King’s work, and I’ve been a big fan since elementary school.
I read this book when it first came out years ago I would never miss a book by Stephen King and I’ve been collecting his books since the 1970s my favorite author always and forever
Yes! He’s done it again! Stephen King is, in my opinion, the best, yet hauntingly twisted, author of all time. This collection of novellas is creepy, scary and totally nightmare inducing. But I could not out it down.
When King wants to shine, he is dazzling. This book contains 4 novellas, all of them dark, brooding and brilliant. I’ve re-read each tale multiple times and I know I’ll read them again and again. They’re that good!
At first I didn’t think I was going to like this because the first story, 1922, felt like a standard ghost story without the climax (although it started with a very dark premise), but I was OK with it. Additionally, Big Driver felt like the standard victim-turned-vigilante trope, but by the time I finished all four stories, I was happy I read …
Full Dark, No Stars is a collection of modern day, semi-supernatural, morality stories. Each tale follows the life of a person whose whole world is changed by one event for better or worse — and how they manage thereafter. A solid and entertaining read that will make you question what you would do if that same thing were to happen to you.
Good book 4 short stories, a real page turners.
Fantastic, just like all his books
Love this book, king never disappoints his readers
In this series of short stories the King has done it again, my personal favorite 1922 is one the most riveting stories I have read in a long time.
It was liking reading the King I discovered as a young person.
The second story reminded me of why I’m the only one of my friends that loved Gerald’s Game; oddly enough, I too have had convo’s with my GPS–though not the kind the character Tess has! If only Masters of Horror was still a series, each of these stories would be a perfect fit.
