Lady Katherine Wilson never expected to inherit a horse farm, but she embraces the gift and the opportunity to continue her grandmother’s legacy. She decides to breed the farm’s mares and only one stud will do. Unfortunately, the stallion belongs to the Marquess of Holton and they’ve never gotten along well. Bennett Evans, the Marquess of Holton has had the responsibility of his family for years. … for years. He has never had the chance to live an idle life and has very strong beliefs about a female’s place in society. He is appalled that a lady of Katherine’s caliber is running a horse farm and outright refuses to work with her.
Katherine and Bennett continue to cross paths, and words, with each other. Sparks fly and before long passion starts brewing between them. It could lead them to find love or it may end up being their downfall.

This was a fun clean story, with lots of spit and fire. This book is in a series, but is a stand alone book.
Dawn does a great job of drawing a reader in and holding their attention.
What a charming story. Two people at constant odds with each other find love. I adored the h and H. So genuine, so realistic, independent, focus driven and willing to compromise even when they did not want to. When the h’s grandmother died, it opened a new world to the h, a world of possibilities but more importantly independence. She had one more year before her majority and her father insisted, she attend London for the season. He wanted her wed. Her father never figured the H would come along and fall madly in love with his daughter. I did feel sorry for the h as her father never really showed her any paternal love. He also could be harsh with her because he expected her to be the perfect typical lady. Subservient in every way. Her Grandmother wrote her a letter upon her death and revealed some wonderful positive encouraging truths to her. The h decided to take full advantage and live fully. When the H realized his feelings for the h, he knew he would accept her as she was and would never want her to change. A delightful read. I was excited to find a character from the second book in this series that I hoped would get her own story. I enjoyed this story of a lady striving for her independence regardless of the naysayers.

Katherine has always wanted her freedom and figured she would never marry for love but just to escape her father. When her grandmother passes away and leaves Katherine an inheritance she now gets a chance at love and freedom. This is a bittersweet love story about man who never wanted to marry and a woman who only wanted freedom. Love the way their love grew over time. This is a well written story with great characters.

This story is about one woman’s goal of achieving her independence – from her father and all men, those who wish to subjugate her. Even though she is given the opportunity of a lifetime, she still needs to dig in to her responsibilities if she wishes to live a life on her own terms. Along the way, she is helped by her friends and one male who becomes intrigued by her resolve and enamored by her fierceness. A wonderfully written romantic tale!

A sweet novella of Lady Katharine Wilson gaining her inheritance of a horse stud farm which allows her freedom from the control of her father, the Duke of Gladstone. Lord Bennett Holton, bumps into Lady Katharine at Tattersalls horse auction and outbids her on Goliath, the stallion she hoped to use as a stud. Angry and frustrated Lady Katharine comes up with a plan to get him to loan her Goliath, unaware that Lord Holton is quickly becoming fascinated by her and her venture. Interesting twists, strong characters, sweet story.

The odds were in their favor
If you enjoy a clean story not big on angst and missing the big misunderstanding this is for you. I loved Katherine and Bennett’s story. Katherine was definitely a woman ahead of her time. Thanks to her grandmother she was able to live her own life. Bennett made such a wonderful hero. By the time I finished I was eagerly waiting for Lenora’s story there is a snippet of Chance of Love at the end. I knew I shouldn’t have read it because now I’m more eager than before to read it. Especially since the Duke of Ashley seems to have already made an ass of himself. The odds were I

Book four in the Scandal Meets Love series a well written story with a very good storyline. Lady Katherine Wilson and Bennett Evans, the Marquess of Holton have never gotten along well but a horse just might bring them together. I enjoyed reading this story of enemies to lovers and reading how they get their happy ending. I hope there is more to come in this series. A grandmother love.
Here we have another totally awesome book where I have a love-hate relationship with some of the characters. That makes for such grand reading. Ms. Brower books are always an engaging read but this one is so full of miscommunication and conflict along with real stubbornness on the part of some of the characters you will be amazed. As you read you will see the chemistry that develops between Katherine and Bennett and will want to read more. This is a book that at times is funny and at other serious but always with passion. This was a wonderful story and I highly recommend you check it out. I know you will be glad you do. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
The interactions between Katherine and Bennett were fiery as can be expected between a strong-willed woman and a member of the peerage steeped in tradition who has had full responsibility for his family for years. Ms. Brower brings us a romance full of conflict, miscommunication, and stubbornness which flares into an unexpected passion that catches both protagonists by surprise. I liked the horse breeding aspect to the book since so much of British history is known to have revolved around the sport of horse racing and yet, not much is actually written about it in the historical romance genre.

Lady Katherine Wilson had postponed meeting with her grandmother’s solicitor, but she couldn’t ignore it anymore. Mr. Adamson walked her over to a warm fire to shake off the winter chill. He gave her a letter from her grandmother where it stated that when her grandmother had married, her mother made sure that her daughter would always be provided for. In England, property is immediately owned by a woman’s husband after marriage vows are said, but her mother didn’t believe a woman should be controlled by a man. So the marriage contract had been written to keep her a wealthy woman, despite her husband getting a large amount himself. But her son, Charles, Katherine’s father, is a harsh man and would like nothing more than to control Katherine. Now he could not. Her grandmother told her to marry only for love, then left her entire estate to Katherine.
Katherine had ten thousand pounds in the bank, a horse farm in Sussex, and a cottage near Bath. The farm would bring in an enormous income for her each year. She would go to her father’s estate and pack, then travel to her farm in Sussex immediately to live her own life the way she wished.
Katherine wants to breed the farm’s mares, but the stallion she wants to use is owned by Bennett Evans, the Marquess of Holton, who does not believe a woman should be running a farm or making important decisions that are better left to a man. How long will he stubbornly fight against this strong woman who knows her mind?
This was an outstanding, well-written book that I loved from the very start! It was so good to see that her grandmother took care of Katherine, as her own mother had done for her. Women could easily be left destitute in those days. Instead, having her own means of support, Katherine can develop in to the strong, intelligent woman she was destined to be. It would take a man who saw her value and loved her strength to recognize the treasure she was, net assets notwithstanding! The reader could immediately see the battle lines drawn and the humor that was bound to come out of this! Don’t miss this one – it is a joy to read!
A new fantastic story that will kept reading until the end…
Entertaining, enjoyable plot for all!
Well written with strong characters… A young lady that inherit a horse farm… A young Marquess with a narrow view of the women…
