She intends to win the race. He intends to win her heart…Evan MacLaren prefers to find his thrills on the high seas. Stormy waters might be fickle, but not as fickle as a woman—particularly a high-spirited widow. Yet Lady Carr’s adventurous spirit calls to him just as the sea does. Here is a woman who will never bore him. A woman who is as free and dangerous as any ocean. And he must have her.… have her.
Twice widowed, Lady Leslie Carr has never been in love. That suits her just fine. She is better off without a man. Oh, they can be very agreeable on a cold winter night or a walk in the garden. Beyond those pleasurable moments, however, they are a bore. So why does a young buccaneer haunt her dreams?

This is a fast-paced, suspenseful and romantic story. Leslie is reckless, cheeky and impulsive. Evan is charming, determined and chivalrous. It starts as an interest, and quickly becomes a passion. Evan is intrigued with Leslie, her boldness and daring drawing him in. Leslie doesn’t care what people think of her wild nature, until it almost kills somebody. An exciting race is something she relishes, and when the man who lost to her mouths off, she challenges him to another race. Evan is exactly what Leslie needs to reign her in, she is just what he needs to settle down. I enjoyed it very much.
I enjoyed this story of the widow Lady Leslie Carr and Evan MacLaren, a privateer who meet at a house party and have an instant attraction.Although the Lady desires to never wed again she is not above flirtation and bedsport. The events were spicy and suspenseful, and dialogues had many double meanings as others discussed the Lady, and also between Evan and Leslie. Entertaining read.

Evan awakens feelings she has never had before. Evan is determined to have Lady Carr as his own, a lady as wild as the seas he sails. Will Lady Carr give in to her desire?

Sometimes is only takes a little gunfire to change things.
I so enjoy reading tales by Tarah Scott she is a very talented writer. In this quick read twice widow Leslie has no desire to love or marry again but Evan has a different idea. We have all sorts of fun in this book. There is an interesting challenge at a ball and all sorts of other events that will keep the reader entertained. This book was so good I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Lady Carr is twice widowed, not at all interested in another marriage, and doesn’t care what anyone says about her. Captain Evan MacLaren is a naval hero and bad boy, and they’re at the same house party. We have a card game with banter full of innuendo, a near fight with a disgruntled husband, a walk in the garden ending in multiple orgasms, a horse race, and a duel at dawn. This book is just wonderful, and knocks regency romances upside down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and am looking forward to more in the series.

Captain Evan MacLaren, a Privateer, looked at the woman across the ballroom who embodied perfection. Her dismissal by looking away from him merely presented a challenge. He sat drinking whiskey with the other men and listened to them talk about a Lady Carr, a wild woman who loved to race her Phaeton and loved to ride her horses. A real adventuress, they said. After the room emptied, Sir Stirling James approached and told him Lady Carr was not a silly minded, wild girl as they said, but a sophisticated woman who lived life to the fullest. Then he offered to introduce them.
Evan finds her adventurous nature refreshing and much like his own. His life would never be boring with her! While Evan is thinking seriously of convincing Lady Carr to marry him and move to America, she – not caring what the gossips might say — is thinking how handsome he is and that he might be interesting enough for a tumble or two. She had no plans of marrying, that is certain! Who will seduce the other in this clean, historical romance? It looks like both are ready to take up the challenge!
This is a fun story that draws the reader in from the start. The story line is light and moves along at a good pace. The characters are intriguing adding a touch of curiosity as to how far each will go in their pursuits. Grab your copy and enjoy the wonderful story of our adventurous duo!

Remarkable job guys, thanks for sharing this incredible jewel with us.
Exciting and steamy romance breaks all the rules!
Twice-widowed Leslie is no longer concerned about what the gossips say about her. Privateer Evan is instantly drawn to her adventurous nature, finding a match to his own. There’s a bit of trouble with an earl who is anything but a gentleman, a few nosy women and spurned men, and a duel at sunrise, all set during a house party in the country with plenty of friends and acquaintances in attendance.
I loved the romance, but the ending, while giving our couple their HEA, still left a lot of loose ends untied. Nothing in the book indicates they’ll ever be addressed in a future book so this isn’t a cliffhanger at all, just a bit of an unfinished ending to some of the tension and conflict that drove the storyline. I would have preferred more vindication and less walking away. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
