After months of push and pull, Law and Coy are the line between love and hate.Since the day David brought Coy home, black and blue and in need of protection, Law has felt more than he should. Coy always takes him through every emotion. Law doesn’t want to want Coy. Coy is as dramatic as he is beautiful. He’s also the angriest person Law has ever met. Law is too old to deal with a sexy, young … with a sexy, young mess. He can’t stop.
It seemed the second Coy found himself working for Law, nothing he did was good enough. No matter how hard he tries, Law finds him lacking. That doesn’t explain why Law looks at him like no one ever has or why Coy burns for Law’s touch. Most of all, Law makes him feel safe. Not only is that something Coy has never experienced, it’s something he needs, because Coy is a magnet for the damaged.
As crazy as Coy might make Law, Coy is his. No one touches Coy. Looks at Coy. Steals Coy from him. Unless he doesn’t step up his game, that is.

When Coy takes a job on David’s ranch he meets Lawson who is David’s property manager and right hand man. After getting off to a rough start , their love starts to bloom.
I wasn’t prepared for the twist and turns this book took. I expected it to be alpha males and super sexy, and it was to a point… but man, this was such an emotional read. I rarely ever cry when reading but Ms. Parkerson had me balling like a baby, and that I didn’t expect. I don’t want to give to much away, so I’ll just say that this honestly one of the best books I’ve read in a really long time. I laugh, I cried , and I was devastated when it ended. I absolutely loved this book.
I was looking forward to this book, because in the previous one in the series, Coy’s situation made me really sad and angry, and I also didn’t understand Law’s awful attitude towards the already emotionally dawn Coy.
Both of them have been abused in the past, and neither of Coy or Law believe that there’s any hope for a brighter future. But they love each other, and they must find the courage to fight their inner fears and overcome them.
A very emotional book,loved it
“He didn’t know how to stop setting his soul on fire to warm other people…”
Battered and broken, Coy is taken in like a stray cat, but then again, that’s what he’s grown use to in his life. Doing his best to make it up to David for giving him shelter, he works hard on the ranch/vineyard and does his best to be invisible. But as much as he attempts not to draw attention to himself, he’s garnered that of his boss, Law. As each day passes, Coy feels cursed to forever finding himself falling for a man bent on hurting him in one way or another.
Law keeps telling himself he is too old to deal with Coy’s drama and bullshit. But when he really takes time to see under the tough bravado Coy portrays, he sees a broken soul that cries out to his own.
Coy and Law each have a past that mirrors each other, and together they may just find that enemies do indeed turn into the best of lovers…and no matter how damaged, love will find a way to heal all wounds…even those that can’t be seen.
I do believe that Charity Parkerson pulled out this reader’s heart in the 10th installment to her Sugar Daddies series. Broken and imperfect heroes are my drug of choice, and dear reader, she gives me double my pain, double my pleasure in Sugar Enemy! If you are a m/m romance fan, this is a must read series! Wish I could give this more than 5 Stars!! Highly recommend!!
*Reader’s Note: I do not consider these as standalone stories, and recommend they be read in order.*
**Received ARC for honest review**
I wish I had seen Law being good to Coy at least a little… all he did was humiliate, diminish and belittle Coy… even knowing all the hurt Coy went thru…
I felt for Law struggles… but nothing on his treatment of Coy warmed me to him… no amount of internal pain justifies being a bully… he was a bully to Coy…
it was still a great book – I love Coy…
