Miss Brianne Collins is accustomed to getting everything she wants in life. She grew up on a genuine Southern plantation, but she wants more. Until she meets Lord Julian Kendall and they strike an unlikely friendship.Julian Kendall is the second son of the Duke of Weston. To alleviate his … alleviate his boredom he starts working as a spy for the crown. In his first assignment he’s sent to America and observe the suffragists there and report back. It seems silly to him but he does as he’s told.
After a while Julian and Brianne’s relationship takes a different turn and with war on the horizon they may never have the chance to discover what is inside each other’s heart. Happiness seems elusive as war rages on around the world, but both hold onto hope they have a chance at finding it.

It’s nice to get lost in a story. While the content could be today:s headlines, the under tones remind you it’s fiction.
Dawn is a great story teller, she puts research into her stories. It gives the story a nice balance!
I wasn’t really able to get into this book as much as I would like. It was difficult to connect with the characters. Brianne was spoiled and a big pain, it wasn’t till almost the end that I felt she grew up a bit. Julian was arrogant and not in a good way. Their romance was choppy, and didn’t bloom entirely in front of the reader. Maybe this style or writing really wasn’t my thing, I dont know, but I most likely wouldn’t read anything else in this series.
The audio performance by Nicola Delgado was well done. I felt that her accenting had more of an english vibe than aristocratic/upper crust but it came and went a bit. I look forward to listening to another narration by her.

The story of Brianne Collins and Lord Julian Kendall is full of twists and turns. The friendship, platonic at first develops into love through letters and chance meetings. The power of war pushes them together and throws them apart. Really enjoyable and loved it is interwoven with Catherine and Asher’s story.

Tempting an American Princess is the second book in the Marsden Descendants series and I just absolutely loved this book. I just had so much fun reading this story and I just didn’t want it to end. I will most definitely be reading more wonderful stories from this author.

This is an interesting wartime romance that takes place over years. I do like the way they corresponded and fell for each other through letters and how with everything going on in the world at that time they felt they would never be together. These two go through so much in this story and the way their story ended was perfect.
I thoroughly enjoyed this WW1 saga with great characters, romance and intrigue. She was a spoiled socialite from.South Carolina who.wanted to go.to.NYC for more activities. She was disappointed but met a friend of her brother who was a file’s son. Over the years they fell for each other, but the war separated them. Then.there was an accident and each thought the other died. A chance occurrence brought them back.together and he got a surprise. The ending was great

I liked the characters and their friendship, their challenges and wins.
The story has its slow start, its war taste over different countries and a hint of loss.
An interesting experience.

New York 1911 Brianne was finally in New York and was so excited. As she and her mother and brother exited the train, she ran into a women. Imagine, this one was a large supporter of the Sufferage Movement just as her cousin was in England and they knew each other! Then as she turned to find her mother, she ran into another person. “Brianne glanced up at the man and held in a breath. He was gorgeous. The most handsome male she’d ever had the pleasure of gazing upon.” Thus her first meeting with Lord Julian Kendall. What she didn’t know is that he was a spy for the Crown and on assignment to observe the efforts for the suffragists. He hoped to wrap up quickly now that he saw Brianne seemed associated with them.
This story is a journey of Julian and Brianne which spans two continents as war erupts all around. The author did a wonderful job of setting the scenes with descriptions you could almost see. A well rounded story that brought this time alive with the characters making their way to their happy ending. Enjoyable!

This story has strong engaging characters, heart wrenching twists and turns which keeps you turning page after page. Full of mystery, misunderstandings. A must read. My free opinion. Thanks.

Book two in the Marsden Descendants about a second chance between Miss Brianne Collins a southern belle and Lord Julian Kendall. Both have thought since they last saw each other that the other had died one in a shooting and the other when a ship blew-up. Both think they saw the other die. Brianne in that time has had Julian’s daughter Vivian. They meet by chance on a train to London. I enjoyed reading this story. This story was an interesting one to say the least. Brianna convinced her parents to allow her to go to New York to see a season because she was bored with Charleston. Julian is working for the crown and so he must keep secrets and then he starts corresponding with Brianne but war is separating them and they feel they will never meet. Awesome awesomeness I loved this book.

Real substance in the piece.
Like all the stories I have read of Dawn Brower’s, there is real substance in the piece. This look at the suffragist movement was very different and interesting. It spanned over continents, the time of war, with loss and separation displayed so brilliantly by the author. There is so much pain in this story, but I do like how it ended. This is another great book by a very talented author. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it
Miss Brianne Collins was a very spoiled young lady who grew up on a Southern plantation. She grew bored with her life of leisure and ultimately convinced her family to give her a season in New York for some excitement. But even New York wasn’t as exciting as she had wished until she turned her attention to Lord Julian Kendall.
Lord Julian Kendall, the second son of the Duke of Weston, arrived in New York from England. To eliminate his own boredom, he was working as a spy for the crown, currently ascertaining the political climate in America in regard to women’s suffrage.
Brianne and Julian’s relationship spans two continents as war rages around them. Will they ever get to find out how they really feel? Or is this something that can never be?
Unfortunately, this book contained some of my not-so-enjoyable subjects, such as war, politics, and bored aristocracy. Therefore, I was predisposed to not particularly like the characters or the situation they were in. I just couldn’t seem to connect with them. I don’t blame the story line or writing; it just wasn’t one that I enjoyed as much.
This is the first romance I have read about the suffragist movement. It was quite different from what I usually read and I really did not find it that interesting. It was okay though.

I Just love this family! Bring the Marsden’s and Kendalls of Weston Manor together and you can count me in! Brianna and Julian’s story spreads a cross two continents where they find each other then lose each other as they are tragically torn apart by war. Started a little slow for me during their time in New York but by chapter two I was swept away in the story

Lord Julian Kendall has come to New York City from England using his position as a duke’s second son to cover up the work he’s doing for the crown in determining America’s current political climate with regards to women’s suffrage. He thinks it a bit ridiculous, but hopes for a better assignment after a job well done.
Miss Brianne Collins had wheedled until her family finally agreed to allow her a season in New York to combat her boredom with Charleston society. But when she arrives, New York isn’t what she’d thought it would be and she eventually begins to admit that her brother’s bothersome friend, Lord Julian, is actually quite intriguing. Soon the two strike up a friendship, mostly through letters as they are separated by war. Soon it seems the separation will be permanent and there will be no happy ending in store for either of them.
I found the writing a bit repetitive and not to my style; I could never quite get used to it. Julian was a bit arrogant at first, but Brianne was downright insufferable as the selfish, spoiled, “independent” heroine that seems to be so popular right now. Thankfully, she improved and matured somewhere off page and was better later on in the book. We don’t really see this love story develop; instead we get snippets of each main character’s life with several months or years jumped over in a matter of pages. I wasn’t terribly crazy about the style as it made it rather difficult for me to really get into the story. I felt like I never really got to know the characters, especially with much of the development they did have occurring off page.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
