With the fate of Evelyn’s entire family tree, their own souls, and the safety of Beverly Hills on the line, the twins must battle fanged foes and tinsel town woes to get to mission accomplished.
Will they save the day, or will they get sucked into some old and new black magic?
If you love paranormal witch cozies with cats, comedy, and a touch of romance, you’ll love this new cozy mystery series. Each book complete. Read in any order.more
The twins, aka the Fair Witch Sisters, are having a hard time trying to prove they are not evil. Intentions should matter as much as results for a lot of things, and since they are strong, some boundaries are more lethal if pushed too far.
Trying to compel the slightly pervy guy to behave better towards women was meant to help him and the women around him – a little lazy as she really didn’t want to talk to police again.
So are the actions of the twins wrong, or are the standards maybe a little too binary? And hey, why was no one trying to stop the creepy power stealing witch? A real baddie there – and differentiated guidelines and not close enough attention to real threats.
Another exciting family dynamics and magical adventure!
I’m enjoying this series. The characters are lively and the book is well written. The witchy twins newly acquired magical skills occasionally backfire, with amusing results. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Love, love, love this series. Didi and Joy are so much fun; and Mom is pretty amazing. It is such a joy to read this series. Each book continues the journey for the Fair sisters and their growth into their witching powers. This book was especially interesting as the plot centered around an evil that was growing. The characters in the story are wonderful. From goth teens to vampires and evil doers, you will not be able to put the book down. You need to read these books; you will not be disappointed.
The Fair Witch Sisters:
Potions Eleven #2 – I always enjoy Ms. Murphy’s sense of humor and her storytelling talent. I couldn’t stop laughing through the messes the sisters keeping falling into, especially poor Joy. The storylines are steady evolving, and this book’s multifaceted plot was full of all kinds of happenings, all while moving along at a fast pace. The sisters keep discovering their magic, some fun, some not, while solving a couple of mysteries that sprang from just one case.
There are quite a few interesting characters not expected when finally exposed that lend to the depth of the story, and the other characters are suited to the story. It appears we have an intro to a new character, a possible major player in the next book. There is no cliffhanger, just a peek into a storyline that has existed since the first book’s introduction. This is a delightful read and I have to see what the rest of the series brings. 5*
Father Knows Death #1 – This is a different type of series from Ms. Murphy’s Mom and Christy’s Cozy Mysteries. There magic and twins involved this time. Instead of the belly busting humor found in M&C, this book is filled with dry humor. The storylines are interesting and the characters range the gamut; you never know who will show up and what they will be, human or not.
There is a killing and the family is involved; the twins are the investigators, Mom runs her tea shop but gives advice, on the magic not the investigation. The twins have reached their 35th birthday and their change of life. Not menopause, magic abilities and there’s a trail to determine what type of witches they’ll grow up and be, black or white. The supporting characters are good choices. An interesting read by an entertaining author that keeps the reader immersed in the story. One thing that I didn’t care for is that Joy is a similar to Christy (M&C) by being down on herself too much, it’s a cultural thing but this reminded me of Christy a lot. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
The Fair Witch Sisters end.
The Secret Truth of Time – I’ve read Mango Cake and Murder, and Apple Pies and Alibis, and was surprised at the difference between those books and The Secret Truth of Time. Totally and completely apples and oranges. This well written paranormal book is fast paced and difficult to put down. I read it in one sitting. The characters are interesting and the plot is intriguing. The Time Travel alone is a major character! Ms. Murphy is one heck of a storyteller. Don’t expect humor and lightheartedness in this story. It is spellbinding! 5*
