One night of passion. Two second chances. Three little texts . . . Former child star, Charlie Klein, is in a world of trouble. She’s broke, jobless, and no longer famous–except with the IRS. She’s ready to run, so an emergency call from Texas is all the excuse she needs to get out of Hollywood. But she doesn’t expect to crash into the sheriff of her hometown, the boy she loved and lost. One look … and lost. One look at Hank Odom confirms what her heart has always known . . . She never stopped loving him.
Unlike the men in his family, Hank’s a do-the-right-thing kind of guy. When his cheating, soon-to-be ex-wife texts him wanting a second chance – or a twentieth chance – he’s determined to honor his vows. One problem? His traitorous heart has never forgotten the woman who just blew back into town.
One night of passion. Two second chances. Three little texts. And nine months of OMG!

Loved this book! My favorite of the series so far. The romance is swoony, Hank, the hero, is sexy and Charlie, the heroine, is strong and sassy. I loved Charlie’s character journey. Was admittedly mad at Hank a few times, but only because he was being so…Hank. Full of humor and heart.
At 15 Charlie was just coming into herself when she was ripped out of her hometown and her growing relationship with Hank. I know at 15 you can’t really call it a relationship but first love is often the one you never get over. Eight years later her life in shambles and her grandfather in the hospital Hank appears in the most improbable place. Life, mean people, users, drug dealers, and Hank (of the do the right thing even if it hurts club) work to keep them apart. But surely fate will be kind to Charlie this time, not on a bet! This twisty “feel” fest had me crying, laughing out loud, so mad I could throw my ereader and turning the pages as fast as I could.
I love this series from Jami Albright and second chance romances are my jam. Add in the fact that they were high school sweethearts and I’m sold. The sweet, sexy sheriff and the bankrupt ex child star are a great addition to this cast of characters. I was also glad to see more from Honey in this book. The cameo from Beau makes me super excited to read his story!
I have been absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in this series, so I was beyond excited to read this. This book was not at all what I was expecting to get. Maybe it was the mood I was in, but there was just too much angst, drama, and emotional manipulation for me. I completely understand why the characters do the things they do, behave in the ways we see. The book is brilliantly written, and I think that was part of my problem. The characters are so real they leap off the page and straight into my imagination. So real that I want to smack both Charlie and Hank, or at least take the pair of them and shake them, yelling “get over yourselves!” I thought Charlie was a whiny brat, too invested in getting her own way in everything. And Hank was not the alpha I’d come to expect from previous heroes in the series. He lets the women in his life get away with far too much bad behavior at the expense of his self-respect and emotional well-being. This was a long book with a lot of things happening in it. Not only do we have the drama between Hank and Charlie, we’ve also got Charlie’s imploding/evolving career and missing money as well as everything with Hank’s extended family and the drug kingpin he’s supposed to stop. There were times I found it difficult to keep track of which plot thread I was following. I know that there will be readers that love the over-the-top emotional turmoil of this book, but all the self-sabotage wasn’t doing it for me. However, the adorably precious epilogue almost makes up for all of it.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Following right behind the others in this series, this one was great and so funny! Hank and Charlie were too cute and I was so happy to see how their story played out. I’m really excited to see where the series goes next!
Running From The Law is a sweet, emotional read that I couldn’t put down. It’s about two people who were meant to be together and finally get their chance. Hawk and Charlie are great characters and I loved getting to read their journey of love. This story has the perfect amount of laughter and heart and Jami Albright writes this genre best.
So much fun from one great book!
There are two things you can count on with a Jami Albright book: You’re going to laugh your head off, and you’re going to cry your heart out. This is the third book in the Brides on the Run series, and it’s the most hilarious and heartbreaking one yet.
Charlie is a Hollywood child star well past her childhood, and well over her career. She heads back to her small hometown to take care of her ailing grandfather, but when she runs into her childhood sweetheart their old flame becomes a raging inferno and no words are necessary. Until after, when the words “wife” and “already married” send a stunned Charlie back out on her own, but not exactly alone anymore.
This is not a simple second-chance romance. Hank’s life is complicated, his personal demons still haunt him, but his feelings for Charlie are the one thing he’s not confused about, even when he should be. Charlie’s life is at a crossroads as well, even before she showed up in Zachsville, and her only goal is to uncomplicate it as much as possible before the next life-altering event arrives. And time is quickly running out.
Their romance takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and encompasses so many wonderful secondary characters that by the time you get to their HEA you’ll feel like a member of the family. This book is everything a romance reader could ever want, and it’s brilliantly done to perfection. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
One of the best new books on the market! Jami Albright knows how to combine romance, comedy and that special “something” that makes readers stay up all night because they can’t put it down! AND she has the greatest book covers that reach out and say “PICK ME, PICK ME!” Charlie and Hank and the entire cast of characters exude the qualities you expect from a Jami Albright book: smart, sassy and sometimes over-the-top! This is one my favorite books ever. If you want to know what the book is about, then read the jacket. Then hang on to your butt because you are in for a wild ride!
