“Mrs Murphy’s fourth caper will be lapped up like half-and-half by the faithful.”—Kirkus Reviews “The best yet.”—Publishers Weekly The residents of tiny Crozet, Virginia, thrive on gossip, especially in the post office, where Mary Minor “Harry” Haristeen presides with her tiger cat, Mrs. Murphy. So when a belligerent Hell’s Angel crashes Crozet demanding to see his girlfriend, the leather-clad … demanding to see his girlfriend, the leather-clad interloper quickly becomes the chief topic of conversation. Then the biker is found murdered, and everyone is baffled. Well, almost everyone . . . Mrs. Murphy and her friends, Welsh corgi Tee Tucker and overweight feline Pewter, haven’t been slinking through alleys for nothing. But can they dig up the truth in time to save their humans from a ruthless killer?
“If you must work with a collaborator, you want it to be someone with intelligence, wit, and an infinite capacity for subtlety—someone, in fact, very much like a cat. . . . It’s always a pleasure to visit this cozy world.”—The New York Times Book Review

Love her amateur sleuth in this series with the cat and dog helping solve mysteries. I’ve read them all. Clean books.
Love this series. The human characters are interesting and different. The animal characters are much smarter than all – such as it may be in real life!
I have loved all of this series. I read this book a long time ago, but recommend it to all who like to read a mystery and then be able to sleep. The talking animals, heard only by the animals and reader, have wonderful insight into human nature. Read, laugh, and enjoy small town characters.
I always love Mrs. Murphy. Makes me wonder what my cats are thinking.
I love everything that Rita Mae Brown writes. As usual you connect with both the human and especially with the animal characters in the book. Even though I know this is not what I would consider a heavy book it is one that I do find myself becoming engrossed in the plot and in the development of and I just knew but long-term characters. This book …
Fun read if you follow the series.
Rita Mae Brown is one of my favorite authors. This book was just as good and well-written as others I’ve read by her. I enjoyed it very much.
Always entertaining, Sneaky Pie Brown never disappoints!
All rita mae brown cat series a delight to read. Thoroughly enjoyed all.
I am the wife of the name on this account and it was me who read the books. So good I am now on my fourth in the series. Loved how the animals can talk to each other and talk to people, but people don’t understand the animals. Unrealistic of course, but great fun to read and food for thought.
I read all of her books – really like them all.
Not as good as author’s literary fiction. But cute.
I love all of Rita Mae Brown’s books! This one was great too.
Any time I can curl up with Mrs. Murphy and “Harry” for an afternoon is like having old friends over for a light lunch and a game of poker. Ms. Brown’s characters are very well developed, they’re funny but they exhibit real life emotions and situations that readers can relate to. Paydirt, and every other murder mystery in the Mrs. Murphy series, …
