Complex is the first standalone in the outsiders of Eron Series. His mother has gone missing. Her family is the prime suspect in her disappearance. After ten years away, Sofia Wise returns home to mourn the loss of her grandmother, and she’s desperate to reconnect with her family. When a dark, devastatingly handsome stranger shows up on her family’s doorstep,Sofia takes one look and is tempted to … and is tempted to make her visit permanent. The problem is, the town’s detective is suspicious of her entire family, and it might take some convincing to prove that she’s more interested in the man himself than in the complex case at hand.
Trevor Freeman is a hardworking detective for the town of Eron. When his mom disappears, he blames the Wise family and will stop at nothing until they are brought to justice —that is, until Sofia Wise blows into town. The mysterious, beautiful member of the notorious Wise clan complicates everything, distracting him from his investigation and threatening to steal his heart.
Despite their differences in financial and social status and the animosity between her family and him, there is an undeniable chemistry between them that has no logistics.
As their attraction for each other escalates, the relationship becomes more complex than any of Trevor’s investigations thus far. Will they ever be able to trust each other? Or will their differences hinder their chance at love?

I thought this book was excellent. I recommend this book highly to everyone. A must read in my book. The best part is everyone can read this book… Loved the book. I’m reading book 2 now.
So I’m reading this series out of order but I’m still enjoying them 🙂 I loved Complex and the story of Sofia Wise and Trevor Freeman. Goodness did these two had issues of their past to work through! But what a beautiful redemption story and examples of God’s grace and love did they ended up proving to be While I always enjoy the romance aspect of a book (and this one was a sweet one), this time what truly spoke to me was the message of God’s mercy and forgiveness, and how we have to bestow it upon others since we’ve already been forgiven so much! Truly, thank you to the author for penning such a beautiful story.
As for the narrator, she was fantastic (just as she was in Choices) with both male and female voices ; of course, the nuances and tones were just on point and she did a great job bringing the whole cast of characters (even the ones with accents, such as Enrique, I think) to life. The only thing I think could be better was the last chapter, since it seemed there were fragments of a couple of sentences that were repeated, but besides that, it was pretty perfect to me 😉
Overall, a fantastic audiobook with a truly wonderful story that I’d recommend to all fans of the author or simply of the Christian Fiction genre. ~ 5 stars
I liked this “star crossed” love story. Fortunately, it didn’t end in death. There was just enough family issues to cause questions about the relationship but not enough to make me roll my eyes. I want to read or listen to more books by Rose Fresquez. Andy Garcia-Ruse did a good job as narrator.
Complex is an interracial romance story and it’s the first book in the Outsiders of Eron Series.Sofia Wise has just come back to Eron. Trevor Freeman a hardworking detective for the town of Eron is trying to find answers to his Mother’s disappearance and the Wise’s might be the last one to have seen her. They hit it off but will things keep them apart? I enjoyed reading their story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Short and sweet. This is more romance than suspense. I would have l liked this book to have been 3 as there is so much information in the back story that could have been told. I did enjoy the read and I look forward to other books by this author.
I mostly enjoyed this story. While I understand that there are families that think they are above the law and rule the small communities where they live, I found it to be just a little much in this story. It was still an enjoyable read and it leads into the next book quite nicely which I did enjoy more than this. I will say about half way thru the story I had figured out the ending of it.
The narrator did a good job with this story.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, however, I am voluntarily leaving this review.
Sofia and Trevor have a connection that isn’t really great and they a few differences. Will they let these things keep them apart? Loved his dad and sister. Her family well UGH. There is a mystery Trevor is trying to solve but it might cause a rift between him ad Sofia. This book really showed how forgiveness is so hard but so freeing.
I loved this story!! Trevor Freeman is a man with a mission: find out what really happened to his missing mother. Sofia Wise is returning to her hometown for her grandmother’s funeral. The only person in her family she had a good relationship with. Can she reconcile with her father? Can she get along with her shallow mother? What about her arrogant brother? Then, she meets Trevor, and finds out how he feels about her family. Can they get past all of that to find happiness together? This is such a good read, and Rose shows how God can work through many things to bring us where we need to be!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
