Michael had a no fraternizing policy at the office – and he was starting to regret it.
My rating is 4.5 stars
Michael had a no fraternizing policy at the office – and he was starting to regret it. Now that Hailey had joined their team, it was very hard to deny his attraction to her. Yet rumors already had to be squelched about why she had been promoted to the position of vice president so quickly.
This sweet romance deals with some deep heart issues. Michael wasn’t even aware of the things he did to attempt to control the people and events around him. And Hailey struggled with a hurtful relationship with a controlling mother causing her to fear even starting a friendship with a man who had those same tendencies.
I was impressed with the way the author dealt with these issues and some of the realizations the characters made along the way. Especially the things that Hailey learned about herself. The conclusion she came to makes perfect sense but I had never even thought about it that way.
For those who have read the other Brides of Seattle books (The Reluctant Groom and Until I Met You – the prequel), you will be glad to see some of the characters from those stories. Hailey is Ray’s little sister. If you haven’t read them, it would be helpful, though not necessary, to pick them up and read them first.

Simply Smitten ( Brides of Seattle-Book #2 )
By: Kimberly Rose Johnson
Simply Smitten is book two by Kimberly Rose Johnson in Brides of Seattle Series. This can be read as a stand a lone. Wow, Ms. Johnson knows how to weave a clean wonderful Christian romance, that will have you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. I did not want to put it down. An easy and quick read. The story is well written and the characters are real like. There are issues of faith, trust, being controlled, and forgiveness. Hailey and Michael both are under a lot of pressure. They both have lessons to learn. Will they learn who is really in control of them?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
It is a pleasure to read this sweet Brides of Seattle series with its true-to-life characters, whose struggles are completely relatable to our lives. There are themes of trust, forgiveness, fear of being controlled, free will, and wondering why God lets bad things happen. I loved this quote: “regardless of what happens here or in my personal life, He’s with me and will help me through it if I let Him. I want Him in control, not me. I realized if He is in control then I can’t be.” I’m looking forward to more books in this wonderful series (I hope). I highly recommend this book and series to all who enjoy sweet Christian Contemporary Romantic Fiction. I’m “Simply Smitten” with This Sweet Series!
