But she’s impervious to Ryder’s advances. Each attempt to sway her to his will pushes him deeper into a dreamscape she seems to be controlling. Because if he can’t, he risks forever condemning himself and the woman he’s grown to love to a never-ending nightmare drawn straight from the twisted depths of hell.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

This is a great addition to a phenomenal series. I am normally not a fan of novellas but this one is an exception. I thought the storyline was unique, as are the characters. Ryder and Zakara are great counter-parts both in personality and ability. I really love how quick it was to read because I really didn’t want to put it down.
Ryder is a dream weaver and tasked with finding out about Zakara’s powers. Zakara resists Ryder at every turn. She is actually the type of woman Ryder is looking for to love. Zakara is the child of tow of the Eternal Guardians. She hasn’t come into her power yet at age 26 and wonders if she ever will gain a power. Ryder and Zakara were great together. This is a short novella but can stand alone and make you want to read the rest of the series.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Zakara “Kara” is a girl after my own heart. Ryder isn’t happy about his task. If you’ve never read any of Ms. Naughton’s Eternal Guardians series before, this may be a good place to start. The book does read as a standalone so you won’t miss out on anything. But it may have you wondering about the other guardians.
How do you feel about mythology? If you love it and don’t mind this fictional twist why not take a chance. There’s plenty of steam – kept watching to see if my e-reader screen was fogging up. You may find that no matter how slow you try to read, the ending still gets closer and closer. Even their time appears to be going quickly but nothing seems to be missing or chopped so that the next scene can occur.
The story got me to thinking as well. What would you do if you had someone that would come to you after you had gone to sleep? Would you creep out? Would you go with the flow? Maybe you like to be in control? Maybe you like to be different from your normal self? How would you feel if a god made an appearance? Do you dream about current things or do you get creative and dream of things you’ve read? Would you stand up for what you believe in and for whom you love? Now don’t you want to see if any of those questions can be answered as you read this book? Wasn’t sure of the ending though. It sounded like it might be happy but I felt that the story wasn’t finished.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I love the Eternal Guardians series and Kara and Ryder’s story is another fun addition to a great series! Kara and Ryder had a blistering hot attraction tempered with a bit of sweetness I enjoyed! I just wish we had a wee bit more time to explore things between them. There’s not a lot of space in a novella to always do characters justice, but I think Naughton did a fair job encompassing the gist of this realm. It was also fun peeking into some of the previous characters lives as well as Zeus. Because he’s always been a pain in the patootie within this series and I’m always delighted to see him get his comeuppance.
ENSNARED is the latest novella in Elisabeth Naughton’s contemporary, adult ETERNAL GUARDIANS paranormal / fantasy, romance series based in Greek mythology, prophecy and history, as well as the latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series.
The modern day heroes –the Argonauts-are descended from the Gods of Olympus whom fate has decreed the Eternal Guardians on Earth. This is the cosmic deity and dream weaver Ryder aka Morpheus (god of dreams), and Zakara aka Kara’s story line. ENSNARED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Kara and Ryder) ENSNARED follows the building relationship between cosmic deity and dream weaver Ryder aka Morpheus, and Zakara aka Kara, daughter of Callia, and Argonaut father Zander. Zeus, the god-king has taken control of our hero Ryder, and in doing so demands Ryder seek out the descendants of the ancient goddesses the Horae (goddesses of the seasons). Ryder’s latest target is the daughter of Callia and the Argonaut warrior Zander, a target who has yet to come into her powers. As a dream walker Ryder infiltrates our heroine’s dreams only to realize there is more to Zakara than anyone could have imagined. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Ryder and Kara, and the potential fall-out as Zeus demands Ryder finish his assignment.
ENSNARED deviates from the previous story lines in that there is no mention of Zeus’ struggle to complete the Orb of Kronus a circular disk, designed by Prometheus, that holds all four elements, and the deity who is in possession of the Orb has the ability to start the war to end all wars. Zeus had previously stolen the Orb of Kronus from the Argoleans but the water element remains elusive, and Zeus suspects is has been hidden in Argolea, where the Olympians –and thusly Zeus- are unable to cross. Saying that, Ryder will be accepted by the Argonauts and thusly protected while living in Argolea.
The relationship between Ryder and Kara is one of immediate attraction perpetrated with a seduction and a lie. Zeus demands Ryder’s obedience but in doing so places Ryder together with the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary characters include Zeus, Zeus’s Sirens, Callie and Zander, as well as a number of previous story line couples.
ENSNARED is a quick read; a story of power, control and love; a tale of vengeance and freedom. Once again, Elisabeth Naughton blends modern day with fantasy and mythology as the gods and goddesses of Olympus seek to win at all costs. The premise is inviting; the romance is seductive; the characters are strong and captivating.
A steamy, twisty and sometimes dark start to the series
Whilst this is the 7th book in the Myth of Omega series, you can read this without having read the previous books. It does end on a cliffhanger, so if you hate them it could be worth waiting until Kardos and Shaya’s story is complete.
Own to Obey is a captivating story, that has a new dynamic compared to the previous two stories. Shaya doesn’t go into a Haze, nor is truly a captive, as in the first 3 books, and Kardos is at heart a kind and caring man, unlike King Malloron in the previous 3 books.
Shaya is much more of an innocent, both figuratively and literally, but there is also strength in her quietness. She is a very easy to like heroine and chapters from her perspective draw you emotionally into the story. Kardos is somewhat of an enigma at times, occasionally he appears quite cruel, though this is more due to cultural differences than any genuine barbaric intent.
This book totally left me desperate to know what happens next, Shaya is facing an unknown future with the potential for some dark times. Kardos is struggling to reconcile his current emotions with his long terms plans. Bring it on, I can’t wait!
This is the first book I have read in the series and I have to say that it made me want to read the series because I was so enraptured by this novella that I needed more of these characters and I need to find out what happens with them and how there parents are and the trouble that Zeus has been causing for them.
In this Novella we get to see Zakara and Ryder and oh boy oh boy was this a good one. Ryder has to use his own gift on himself and when he does things go left real fast and he has to figure out how to get himself out of this nightmare because it is no longer a dream. He is attracted to Zakara and she is attracted to him but she fights it and the more she fights it the worse things get and Zeus is starting to win. He has this evil plan planned for Zakara and Ryder and if they don’t get it together soon he will win.
Ensnared: An Eternal Guardians Novella by Elizabeth Naughton is her newest 1001 Dark Nights books. It picks up after the last book in the series, while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the previous books in order so you understand the back stories. The Eternal Guardians series is a favorite of mine based on the Greek gods. In this book we follow Zakara, aka Zara, daughter of Argonaut Zander and the dream god, Morpheus, aka Ryder. Zara has always felt plain and unspecial because she didn’t have any special gifts. At her age her gifts should have manifest years ago. She escapes her real life with her dreams. Ryder is tired of serving Zeus but doesn’t know what other choice he has. Both their lives are about to change. Elizabeth’s ability to write about the Greek mythology with such passion is amazing. She draws you in and then shakes everything up. Her characters are so unique yet so easy to relate to. If you love mythology and a great love story then this is a series for you. With every new book can’t wait to see what’s next. This series is a pure delight. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.
Ensnared Pulls You In…
Ensnared may be a novella, but it packs a serious punch. It is written in a way that it is a stand-alone book and does not need to be read in order of the Eternal Guardians series but trust me, if you have not read this series it is a must read. I love the series and Ensnared did not disappoint. As the series has progressed, we are now getting to read about the children of the Eternal Guardians.
Zakara, is one of those children, and she is struggling to come to terms with the fact that she apparently has no gifts. Her parents shelter her and seek to keep her out of harm’s way, but that only seems to suffocate her. She finds her dream world much more appealing and who wouldn’t. The man in her dreams is delectable.
Ryder, a dream weaver, has been tasked by Zeus to discover her talent. What was once an assignment becomes so much more, when Ryder realizes that he would do just about anything to protect Zakara from Zeus and his own destructive agenda. There is so much that goes on here and so much is uncovered that is best left unsaid. No spoilers here.
Ensnared is non-stop from beginning to end. I loved it, the only thing that would make this a better read is if it were longer. Happy reading!
Loved Kara and Ryder together. Ryder is used to being the dream weaver not having someone trying to pull him into theirs. He’s seen her before in his dreams and wanted her but he’s stayed away. Now he can’t though, he has to do something for Zeus.
Once Kara and Ryder are together though, they’re unstoppable. Ryder hasn’t felt anything for someone for so long and he wants to keep Kara all to himself. Kara though has other ideas how this should work. Will they have enough time to figure it out before Zeus does?
Zeus doesn’t know what he’s done until it’s too late. Loved seeing him get some of his own medicine!!!

I always forget how much I enjoy the Eternal Guardians world until I dive back in! Ensnared features Zakara, the daughter of Callia and Xander, but like all the 1001 Dark Nights stories it can easily be read as a standalone.
Zakara is having a bit of an identity crisis. Argoleans usually realize a special ability of some sort by the time they reach the age of 20 (superior strength, healing, visions of the future etc.). At 26, she has yet to see any gift manifest itself and she is treading water at her mother’s clinic to keep her parents happy despite being bored to tears. She is also feeling increasingly suffocated by being trapped inside the city walls by her overprotective parents after her cousin was kidnapped by Zeus months ago. Her only escape is in her dreams where she encounters the most delicious man she could have ever conjured up.
Ryder, aka Morpheus, is the last dream weaver and an unwilling participant in Zeus’s plan of the day to try to destroy the Argonauts and take over the world in general. From the first time he encountered Kara in her dream world, Ryder felt the same inexplicable pull to her that she feels. But no matter how much he believes he has found a person who can truly understand the depth of his loneliness, he knows from firsthand experience that getting to close to anyone just gives Zeus more ammunition to inflict pain and suffering.
Of course best laid plans never quite work out and Zeus finds a way to muck things up as usual. I loved Kara’s spirit and the ease of her interactions with Ryder. Oh and did I mention that you will need a fan for the sexy times?
Ensnared was a wonderfully yummy quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed!
It’s been awhile since I read the Eternal Guardians series and this little nugget has me itching to re-read from the beginning. Ensnared features Ryder and Zakara and some appearances by a few other Argoleans, trying to defeat Zeus at his own game, while falling in love. It’s a quick read, but has all the elements of an Elisabeth Naughton full length book. Danger, Suspense, sexiness and hits on some real emotional topics that are in the headlines today.
Nice Read.
ARC received for honest review.
What a fun, flirty love story in this novella. Trying to outwit the big God Zeus and follow their hearts plus figure out who they are kept us on our toes through out. Lots of action packed twists and turns.
I have enjoyed many romantic suspense series by Naughton from Deadly Secrets, House of Sin and her Stolen series but have never read any of her Eternal Guardians’ series until now. Ensnared is the first of this series I have read and enjoyed. As with her other many stories, this one is just as engaging and suspenseful and has you turning pages as quickly as possible to see what happens next. This is a quick, fun, romantic novella that holds your attention from start to finish. I really enjoyed the characters, the different settings, the overall storyline and the descriptiveness of the scenes were clear and it was easy for me to envision the surroundings as I was reading. I will most definitely be seeking out more of this series to read.
*I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I love this series. It is so nice to look into the life, loves and adventures of the guardian children. Zakara is bored being in the castle and her only escape is reading or getting caught up in her dreams where Ryder is waiting. There is romance, action and of course the might Zeus. This novella was quite enjoyable.
