Radolf Wolferton, Duke of Wolferton was the fourteenth of his line. He hated London and his townhouse there. It once belonged to his father, who was a cruel and debauched person. He was trying to redeem himself. As he had during the war and his ten years after. After his sister’s disastrous marriage and the beatings she had taken, when her husband died, he had Camille come live with him and he did so enjoy her.
Miss Jaclyn Moreux was his ward and had been gone ten years at school. Her father had been the duke’s best friend but he was killed during the war. His sister had gone to bring her back from Belgium and a short vacation. The two ladies had become very close.
This was an unusual story, it started out how Wolferton’s, at least he was, guarded by the Red Wolf and a Guardian Angel. They were depicted on a beautiful stained glass window.
I enjoyed this tale and read it in one sitting, It was that good. The characters were excellent, engaging but they weren’t that sure about their relationship but they knew they cared for each other. The author put in some interesting twists which help keep the book entertaining. It was well written, easy to read and so complicated sometimes but the author kept it all straight. I highly recommend this novel but it is for those eighteen and over, very racy.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
This is not your usual Recency romance, no.not at all. This tells the story of the Duke of Wolferton, who is part wolf part good unlike his father. Radolf Wolferton (that’s Radolf on the cover) has taken on Jaclyn Moreux his young ward to care for and to find a suitable husband. This is a Paranormal Recency Romance, but I don’t want to say too much and spoil this exciting story for you, so I’ll leave you with Sandra Masters’ intriguing tag line: how do tempt a devil? By offering him an angel. Check it out for a thrilling read!
The story starts with a legend. Centuries ago, the Wolferton family aided and protected a family of red wolves. The power that was their reward has passed down through the family and is depicted in a stain glass window. Only the family can see the changes in the figures in the window that signal events in their lives. When his ward of ten years arrives at his home, Radolf sees the window glow and the eyes of the wolf and the warrior change. He doesn’t know precisely why, but he knows that Jaclyn is special. He and his sister Camilla hope to help Jaclyn find a suitable husband. She is well received, and they do find her a husband. You might be surprised at who he is.
Radolf is the fourteenth Duke of Wolferton. He is brooding, a man with a dark past. He is considered a hero of the battle at Waterloo. Jaclyn is the daughter of one of his fallen men. She is a light in his dark world. Camilla, Radolf’s sister is a delightful person. The villain in this story wants to take Jaclyn as revenge for a grudge he holds against the family, particularly Radolf’s father. The story line is thought provoking and the characters are interesting. There are some twists and turns in the story and the mystic element lends the feel of a Gothic adventure and romance. A good read. I recommend it.

A power passed down through the centuries to the Wolferton family. The family mascot and coat of arms was the red wolf that began the legend and was captured in a stain glass piece that showed the wolf with a strong warrior and it had magical powers that could be seen by them.
London 1825 Radolf (red wolf) the 14th Earl of Wolferton had a ward. Jaclyn. that he had not seen since she was ten and sent to school. Upon her arrival as an adult, it seemed the glass glowed as she greeted Radolf and it seems the story begins. Radolf has had a terrible past, although touted a hero of the battle at Waterloo. He is a dark character that needs to be brought to the light and it seems Jaclyn may be the answer. But she is lured by his charm and seductive passion in his embrace but there are outside forces that may pulled them apart.
There are several twist and turns in this fast paced story that will keep you enthralled until the end.

A different take on a Regency romance & whilst I did enjoy the book I’m not a lover of fantasy, supernatural novels. This well written book had a story that didn’t lag & the characters were well fleshed. I liked the book but it didn’t have me in raptures, I’ve read other books by the author & will certainly read more of her romances
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
