I read this book awhile ago and freakin’ loved it. The sequel, The Savageside, came out while everything was crazy in my life, but I’m super excited. The Flipside was so good I downloaded the second book without even reading the blurb. First off, any story with a pet Ankylosaurus named Elvis just hooks me right in.
The concept is that there is the regular appearance of these “bubbles” of time from the Cretaceous Period and that humans can enter them without disrupting the future. But, for some reason, these bubbles stop appearing when they should. Enter Trevon Cash, former Head of Security for Topside Command, who now has to lead a team into these bubbles and figure out what’s going on.
I don’t want to give away any more than that, you know I’m big on not giving away spoilers, but I have to say I think you’ll love it as much as I did. This book is military action/science fiction/time travel rules/dinosaurs/ and snarkiness all in one.

The Flipside
By: Jake Bible
Narrated by: Andrew B. Wehrlen
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I loved the book so much I just had to get the audible and listen to compare it. I love this narrator and was completely thrilled with his performance. The tension, suspense, action, and science fiction came together so well! Dinosaurs can scare the heck out of me if done right, and Bible took me back in time and scared it out of me! The plot, characters, and excellent world building were tops! Add excellent narration and this was a real winner!

Prehistoric meets futuristic in exciting thriller
The Flipside by Jake Bible is one wild ride through time with dinosaurs, high tech cyborgs, time travel through time bubbles, and interesting characters. This book has such wonderful characters that I couldn’t help but enjoy. I especially loved the friendly dinosaur raised “topside” (not in the time bubble worlds). The plot and world building was great also. Great job, hope there will be a book 2!
I really enjoyed this unique, exciting take on a Jurassic Park type theme. Time travel back to the era of the dinosaurs became a possibility when rift bubbles appeared in various places in the world, forming links to the distant past. In the US, Topside Industry take “vacationers” back to prehistoric times on the flipside, but after years of stable and predictable bubbles, something goes terribly wrong and both the past and the present may be at risk. Trevon Cash is the former head of security for Topside, but when things start to crash, he rejoins the team and is sent flipside to try to figure out what is happening. This story is a wild, thrilling ride filled with predatory dinosaurs, AI technology, family dynamics, unstable landscapes, foreign powers and plenty of fast action, loss and humour. The plot easily keeps your attention and there are lots of great characters. I think my favourite was Elvis, the tame, well-trained pet Ankylosaurus that was raised topside. I loved how he always enjoyed giving Cash a hard time and their interactions always made me smile. Andrew Wehrlen did a great job narrating the audiobook, he gave each character individual voices and showed the various emotions in the story well. If you enjoy action, adventure, dinosaurs and a bit of gore, then you will love this story. I’m looking forward to seeing how things will develop in the next book.
