Nothing stays black and white in a world full of shadows… whole, a world I didn’t even know existed until I used my magic and unleashed hell upon my naïve self. From heart-eating ghouls to glamors, potions, and spells… nothing is as it seems.
A renegade demon and his brother are teaching me the ropes and driving me crazy with their I-know-better attitudes, beckoning stares and stupidly handsome faces.
At this rate, I’ll flunk Witchcraft 101. I want to hunt down the bastards that destroyed my future, but the brothers’ past is threatening to steal my soul and tear me apart—literally.
To survive, I must embrace the darkness simmering inside me and unleash the devil within, no matter the consequences…

Audio Review: Shadow Walker (Bloody Hearts, #1) by Anya J. Cosgrove (Author), Kelsey Navarro (Narrator)
Navarro proved her versatility. Shadow Walker is not my normal type of read. Paranormal is not my genre of choice, but somehow both author and narrator made it work. Alana’s journey from teen angst to adult shadow hunter is a captivating transformation. From dangerous enemies to possible romance and let’s not forget the learning curve along the way, Cosgrove and Navarro kept me invested and that is a tough task.
When Alana turns 20 she’s shocked to learn she’s a witch, uncontrollable powers & all. As she’s trying to learn to deal with her new life, she meets 2 brothers who are protectors of witches. They are trying to help her survive in her new world. It’s not easy, but she’s determined to learn what she can from the brothers.
This is the first book I’ve read/listened to from this author. I thought it was a good story with lots of twists. The love triangle between her & the brothers is different in the sense that she’s not totally attracted to one of the brothers, but just something she wants. Interesting story line. I will pick up book 2.
The summary seemed interesting enough, definitely fit my niche of books I read, but it did the book no justice. If anything it was a tad misleading with the wording. But seriously, this book.. it was great! The intro slowly introduced you to the characters and the relationships then started with the main plot line which I much prefer then being tossed in randomly when action is happening from word one. The abrupt change from the MC having zero romantic feelings for the guy definitely bugged me when all of a sudden she was crazy about him (perhaps the ritual?), but I would’ve preferred a bit of a build up for her feelings for him. I much prefer him over his brother obviously, the good ones always seem so dull..Some parts that haven’t been written yet seem a bit obvious to me like her potential heritage. Overall great story, great plot line and cant wait for more.

Terrific Story & Narration 4.5 Fascinating Stars
Shadow Walker
Bloody Hearts, Book 1
By: Anya J. Cosgrove
Narrated by: Kelsey Navarro
This is fascinating story is well written and well told. Anya J. Cosgrove creates imaginative and interesting storylines and equally imaginative supernatural characters whom live amongst ordinary humans. Alana grew up as an ordinary human and was unaware of supernatural powers, all that changed on her 20th birthday. Starting with an accident, a magical healing and visions that she could not explain and then an attack. She is saved by Thom and his brother Liam, who then bring her to their safe house. They try to explain what she is and what they are. She is a witch, her powers have lied dormant and surfaced out of desperation to save her father. At first she was not allowed to leave but then she agrees to stay, needing to learn more about her powers and the dangers that loom outside. The different types of demons, shadow walkers, ghouls, other witches/wizards and other supernatural beings. Alana and Thom have been friends, there is a bond between them, a natural attraction. Liam, also has an attraction to her, but a different one, a demonic one. He swore to protect her and fights his urge to give in to his desires, which are not your ordinary romantic desires, even the scent of her blood drives him crazy. I loved the chemistry between Liam and Alana, you can just tell it is explosive. I am looking forward to see what the future brings for all of them. Will Frank get the better of them, what is the deal with her father and her real parents and their connection to the Walkers. There is never a dull moment in book, there is plenty of action, drama, angst, twists, thrilling suspense and a build up to a slow burn romance and possible love triangle.
I listened to the Audible edition, Kelsey Navarro is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She does a great job projecting the emotions of the characters as well as the drama of the story into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
This was a good read. I would definitely read the next book in the series.
She is a witch and she finds herself being pulled to two brothers but she does not know they are demons. They are falling for her but the past is coming to blight them. What will they do? Will. She stay? Will she flee? What is the danger coming? Watch you back

This is a great slow burn urban fantasy / paranormal read! Well written you get sucked into this world from the start with its kick ass witch and her hot and sexy men! Action packed with magic, mystery, witches, demons and sexy love triangle, I wait for the next book!
What can one new witch do to prevent her death? Get kidnapped by two hot as sin brothers. Alana can’t decide if Thom, who is human and his older demon brother Liam, are saving her or driving her crazy. On things for sure, the heat between all of them will pull you in and have you craving for more. Will the brothers be able to protect her from the evil stalking her, and still be able to have their HEA? I can;t wait to read the next installment.

I received an ARC of this book. I really enjoyed Shadow Walker. The world is well constructed and the characters are interesting and well developed. The book was so exciting and interesting. The combination of the supernatural, suspense and romance is so good. It is difficult to put the book down once you started reading. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the next book.
I really enjoyed this first part of the Bloody Hearts trilogy – the love triangle was well done and I wanted MORE immediately! The world of demons and witches is super intriguing and Cosgrove’s writing is great.
So, the black and white of it? I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK.
Loved it.
So much.
I wish I could go back and reread it for the first time all over again. Actually, I am already rereading it because I seriously enjoyed it that much.
I don’t do spoilers because I’m a lover of surprises SO let me say that there is such a unique twist to all things “supernatural” in it … the Shadow Walker thing is something I’ve never read before so it was just a super breath of fresh air.
Also, there is reference to one of my FAVORITE..and I mean ALL time favorite couples, in the story. It made me laugh and goofy smile when I read the line – “He might as well have pulled my pigtails and called me Carrots.”
As soon as I finished the book I was immediately on the hunt for when book 2 would be releasing because I need it.
I need it you guys.

Oh my, this is great! I couldn’t put it down at night until my eyes crossed. It is that good. After a little background, this story takes off on a wild adventure. I was very impressed with the characters and the world-building. Thom is the light to Liam’s dark nature. I love how they protect each other. Liam is my favorite but Thom is great also. This is an addictive beginning. I can’t wait for the next. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
This first book in the Bloody Hearts series by Anya J Cosgrove was one of the most entertaining reading about demons, witches, seers and shape-shifters I have read for some time. It grabbed my attention from the first page down to the last enticing non-conclusion ending that I had to finish it all at one reading. The characters are complicated and multiple personality like as they walk the line between dark and light and evil vs good. I certainly hope Anja doesn’t take another 10 years to continue with the series. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
A great start to a new series I will be reading the next book, once I started reading I was not putting this book down. The pages run smoothly one to the other a story well worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The back cover was what drew me in, it sounded really interesting.
Alana is a twenty year old student, her life is pretty ordinary, and like most twenty year olds, she has a crush on someone, they do art classes together, and although they are chatting, Alana would like it to be more.
And when she finds out she’s not really that ordinary, at first she won’t believe it, but with monsters chasing her, who can she turn to ?
Thom only wants to help Alana, yes he’s attracted to her, but he’s trying to fool himself it’s only a job. He’s helped plenty of other witches, but this time it’s different.
Liam is or was a witch hunter, finding and draining them for their blood, his masters trained him to do his job, but no longer, he is free, but how did he get his freedom ? He has no compassion in him, he fights his demon side on a daily basis. The witches blood calls to him whenever he is near Alana, or any witch. And after rescuing Alana, using her blood to escape, he has once again turned back into the monster he fought so hard to escape from.
The walker brothers rescue and train witches, and are probably the best bet in Alana’s training, they won’t take any of her excuses, and as she’s being stalked by demons, she will need an insight into the demon mind.
Alana can’t get the hang of her magic, even the simplest of things are proving difficult for her. But if she doesn’t then she can’t go home, but she has only just come into her powers, Thom explains that until she learns to hide her powers she can’t go home !!! But in all honesty, Alana can’t go home anyway, (demons will be on the look out for her, and will use family and friends to find her) so she’ll be given a new identity and set up
Somewhere new !!!!
And the attraction between Thom and Alana is a slow progression, she really likes him, and Thom is warming up to her. But the thing with her and Liam is totally different, it’s interesting to read
But how will the attraction continue? Will she choose ? And what about the demon that is stalking her ?
Wow. It is hard to put into words, but this story had everything, from angst to suspense to the supernatural. I couldn’t put it down.
This is the first book that I have read from Anya, and what a doozy. When I saw the cover and then read the blurb I immediately knew that I wanted to read this ARC of the series.
What I loved about the story was the world in which Anya created. The story flowed quickly and I found my feelings for Liam slowly change over the course of the first book.
I have to know what happens in the second book. I am not going to give away any spoilers as I think you should go into reading this story with a blank mind.
This is a must read!
The romance is deliciously slow-burn, and the heroine is strong and capable without being one of those “I discovered magic and now I’m the strongest user in the history of time” A newborn witch is hunted by a demon for her blood and her two protectors are brothers.Studying martial arts and sparring with the six-foot-three muscular Walker brothers does nothing to help her focus. Alana’s doesn’t want to fall for a man.
