Misfortune comes to us all in some form…For Natalie Cameron, misfortune came in the most unspeakable way imaginable, now she must try and rebuild her life while fighting her own dark demons, the town speculation, her arrogant brother and her raging desire for the kindest man she’s ever met. Natalie Cameron, along with her young daughter, Dallas, is on the run from a past that threatens to … from a past that threatens to destroy her sanity. When her car breaks down on the side of a two lane Texas road, Jack Kinsen, her parent’s ranch foreman, unknowingly comes to her rescue. His kind eyes and sincere charm make him an easy target for Natalie’s trust issues and pent-up aggressions. But it doesn’t take her long to realize that her attitude towards him has a lot less to do with jealousy and a lot more to do with the fact that his closeness sets her on fire like no one else ever has. His sincerity begins to disarm the front she guards so vigilantly. If she isn’t careful, she could find herself lost to him….
At first glance, Jack Kinsen is fascinated by Natalie Butler Cameron and her child with her most curious gift. Natalie is the beloved only daughter of Jack’s employers and he’s not only baffled by her indifference to him but mystified by her unwarranted anger. She starts to awaken something primal within him, but will his compassionate nature be enough to break down the walls she hides behind or are her wounds simply too deep to heal?
Just as Natalie’s fate begins to turn around, unknowing danger lurks on the horizon. Natalie’s disturbing past is about to make an unexpected return…and with vengeance.
Abundance is a charming novel that will sweep you away with romance, drama and suspense as it expresses the depth of raw human emotion and the strength it takes to overcome tragedy.

A sweet, Steamy and Dramatic Western Romance. This story was heartrending. I was a little concerned in the beginning by Natalie’s treatment of Jackson, but as the story developed and her past terrors were revealed, it became understandable. I really fell in love with Jackson’s enduring, loyal, cowboy hero persona and I was really happy to see things work out for the two of them. Great first story set in this small Texas town!
Ahhh, this is the start of something beautiful!
Natalie and her daughter Dallie are fleeing home after their world falls apart. Welcome to Abundance, Texas – a quaint small town filled with a wild cast of characters. But, the coolest one of all is the drop-deap gorgeous Jack Kinsen. He rescues Nat and Dallie from the side of the road, and it turns out he works at her Dad’s ranch.
Oh yes, things will get good!
The sparks fly because Jack is absolutely smitten but Nat is too shell-shocked (and for good reason, we find out). Can this reformed cowboy help the broken girl of his dreams glue herself back together? And more importantly, are we ever free of the demons from our past or is there hope through love?
I know this is described as an endearing romance implying it’s super sweet, but I’m here to tell you there is plenty of darkness (which is my fave!). Take a trip to Abundance – it may bruise your heart or fix a broken one, but you’ll definitely enjoy yourself
Sweet is the best word that describes Abundance from author Swenson. Don’t let the “an endearing romance novel” in the title fool you though, this novel tackles some serious and all too real world issues. Jack and Natalie had great chemistry in this slow burn romance. Jack is a nice guy and Natalie is a resilient and strong woman. I also liked several of the secondary characters, Nathan and Luther to name a few.
There were a couple small things I didn’t like. For example, some of the conversations between Dallas and the others felt too advanced for a 4 year old’s capabilities. There were also a couple spelling/grammatical errors. Overall though I really enjoyed this book and look forward to continuing the Abundance series.
Ok, let me start off by saying that I’m a city girl, through and through. I’m not into small-town romances, cowboys, or country music. They’ve just never really been my thing. *shrugs unapologetically*
That being said, this book was fucking AWESOME! It’s a sweet, sassy romance with some suspense and darkness thrown in, which takes place in a rural farm town filled with cowboys, bull-riders, and farmhands. See my above statement. Right? So you’d think it just wouldn’t be my cup of tea.
As soon as I started reading, I was in it for Jack Kinsen. I fell in love with him right off the bat, and I knew that Natalie was going to annoy me by being so stubborn and resistant to his desire to sweep her off her feet. But then as I went on, and I found out why Natalie had such trust issues, I totally got it. Oh man, did I feel for her and her poor little girl.
The book was full of smalltown drama and steamy, slow-burn sweetness. I love a good slow-burn, so for me it was the best kind of torture waiting for the two of them to finally hook up. I swooned hard over the many, many times that Natalie would tease Jack, getting him all riled up then letting it fizzle out. The chemistry between them was undeniable, but it made perfect sense why Natalie was afraid to take it further. And let me tell you, Jack Kinsen is the ULTIMATE gentleman. Not many book boyfriends would have that kind of patience!
Jack’s relationship with Dallas, Natalie’s four-year-old daughter, made me melt. I love a man who’s good to children, and Jack did everything right. Spoiling her as if she were his own. It gave me serious heart-eyes.
The only things – and I mean ONLY things – that prevented me from giving this book 5 stars was the fact that it does need some polishing. There were some typos, repetitiveness, adverbs and such that if cleaned up by an editor would EASILY make this book worthy of best-seller status! That and the fact that the chilling suspenseful ending felt like it was over way too quick. No spoilers, but there’s some intense stuff that happens right at the end, and it could have been drawn out just a bit more. But aside from that, this book is freaking fantastic!
Shanna’s writing is lovely. I’ve heard many romance readers say that they aren’t keen on third person, and I personally think it takes a more open-mind to enjoy it, which I certainly do. I LOVED the fact that we got all kinds of POV’s in this book, not just Jack and Natalie. It was so exciting to suddenly be following other characters, which is also why the third person worked so well. Shanna pulled it off stunningly.
I would HIGHLY recommend this book to any romance lovers! If it can capture my attention – someone who usually has no desire to read about cowboys and southern stuff – that just goes to show how truly wonderful this book really is.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! A round of applause for this indie author and her imaginative creation of Abundance!
This book was intense and so well written. Natalie’s story was of a strong courageous woman that had me smiling with pride. Jack was the quiet in a once dark storm! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful crazy story, i loved it.
Abundance is a great, entertaining book that kept me on the edge of my seat! I fell in love with Jack, Natalie & Dallas. Love the country setting, and the author did a great job to paint the picture in my mind.
Fans of Nicholas Sparks and Nora Roberts will LOVE THIS BOOK! Ms. Shanna Swenson truly knows how to weave a story.
This is not some light-hearted, erotic/cliché romance novel. THIS book captures and exposes the human heart–in all its glory and flaws–through her well-developed characters and their complex dynamics. You’ll find yourself absolutely LOVING some of the characters (especially Jack, Natalie, and Dallie), and you’ll find yourself utterly HATING the antagonist. He is vile. I think I’ll hate him forever…. Now, that’s good writing, when it evokes such great emotion from the reader.
I honestly could not put this book down, and stayed up way too late to finish it! It has it all: SUSPENSE, romance, humor, love. It will leave you wanting more (and I’ve already purchased the sequel), while also leave you hugely satisfied and glad you took a chance on “Abundance”. Fiction fans will love this– Definitely not limited to only romance readers. The suspenseful, fast-paced plot will thrill you, and again, has a Nicholas Sparks/Nora Roberts feel to it!!
Make sure to look “Abundance” up!! Ohhhhh, and did I mention there are HOT cowboys!?
Natalie Cameron and her daughter Dallie are returning to the family ranch in Abundance, Texas on the heels of a horrendous marriage that ended in tragedy, murder, and scandal. Emotions run high as Natalie comes to terms with her circumstances, and begins to build a new life with her young daughter at the family home. Ranch foreman Jack Kinsen tries to reach out to the broken woman offering kindness and friendship, but Natalie takes her hurt and anger out on him, threatening a deep attraction developing between them.
Author Shanna Swenson takes you on a steamy, romantic, emotional ride as Natalie works through her raging feelings that threaten to take her down. Will she be able to trust and love again with help from her parents and Jack? Her vengeful ex has other ideas, and is bent on destroying the woman he feels betrayed him. I really enjoyed this read filled with life complexities, developing romance, family relationships, steamy encounters, and a suspense filled ending. A great read, highly recommended!
Nicole is an outstanding writer and she did a wonderful job in this character driven romance. A young mother who returns home after breaking free from an abusive relationship—only to find herself attracted to a handsome cowboy who lives at her parents’ ranch. Their attraction is almost immediate and the sexual tension is on high-gear all through the story. There were a few things though, in my opinion, that just didn’t merit 5 stars. There were too many characters in the story—and every single male seemed to be attracted to Natalie which didn’t seem realistic. Jack’s character-development was inconsistent. Most of the time he was just a nice guy who she could trust—which I loved—but then at other times he came across as sex-crazed, jealous, and manipulative. The constant sexual advances were a bit too forward for his character. Especially so early in the story. Natalie’s inconsistencies, on the other hand, are justified considering her emotional rollercoaster of a past. As for Dallie, she’s the most adorable four-year-old ever! By far my favorite character. Overall, it was a good story. Easy to read and entertaining. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a good contemporary cowboy romance I was given this book in a giveaway and decided to review it voluntarily.
uuummmm how did it take me so long to find and read this book / series???
Abundance is a truly emotional, heartbreaking, suspenseful, and oh so swoony romance story that will captivate your attention, steal your heart, and have you devouring this story as you find yourself unable to put it down.
Natalie Cameron along with her 4 year old Dallas are on the move. Wanting to leave a darkened past behind them they are returning to her hometown Abundance, Texas where Natalie’s parents own a ranch.
Exhausted and hungry Natalie’s car breaks down on the side of the ride just before she reaches Abundance. Enter Jack Kinsen who happens to be driving by. Jack is not only foreman of her parent’s ranch he is sweet, sexy, and utterly swoon-worthy.
With sparks, sexual tension, and chemistry between these two will Jack show Natalie that love can heal? Will Natalie be willing to open her heart again? Or will her trust issues and insecurities hold her back?
Wowsers, the journey for these two was heartbreaking, suspenseful, sweet, steamy, and heartwarming. As I devoured this story my heart and emotions were put through the wringer. I felt angry and frustrated, I smiled, I gasped in shock and surprise, on occasion I held my breath with anticipation, my kindle heated up, and my heart oh boy it ached, it broke, and was beautifully pieced back together.
I loved the multiple POV and with so many wonderful and intriguing characters introduced I can’t wait to dive into Book 2 of this series!!
A small town, hello cowboys must read series!!!
