Seth and Evan are learning to navigate their partnership—as lovers and monster hunters—while they chase down the next witch-disciple and avoid attracting the wrong kind of attention.

Dark Rivers run deep, and Seth and Evan find this out when past monsters rise up from the depths to terrorize them. Seth and Evan are hunters targeting the evil witch coven that kill innocent victims for power. Evan was thrust into this world when Seth came and saved him from the very same witch coven that they are hunting now. What started out as a rescue turned into a beautiful romance, but now that the dust has (metaphorically) settled, both men are learning what it means to be in a relationship. I really love the characters and how they interact with each other. The banter is awesome and it really makes the story a lot of fun.
Seth and Evan are trying to protect another potential victim from the witch disciples, and their experiences dredge up past trauma.
This volume of the series has plenty of action and tense moments. Seth and Evan are still learning to navigate their relationship which also adds a bit of tension. The tension is nicely balanced with a few romantic moments, a couple breaks for a bit of levity, and a handful of steamy scenes. You may never look at Christmas lights the same way again.
Kale Williams does another great job of narrating this story with an even larger cast of characters to voice.
I like how Seth and Evan is working true there personal and professional relationships in this book. I think this book is better then the first one. And that the story is getting better.
Holidays hunter style
Seth and Evan have amazing chemistry and are hot. But what I loved most about this book is we see them open up more to each other. They share about their heartbreaking pasts, which shows them reaching another level of trust in their relationship. The more I learn about Evan and Seth, the more I love them. I adore how they take care of and protect each other, and they’re both so brave. They also make me constantly laugh with their silliness and teasing. By the way, I’m a fan of sloths, monkeys, and Italian food.
They truly rely on each other as a team in this story, and they make a kicka$$ one, FYI. They both have unique skillsets and strengths that combined make them very powerful, and they have a spooky way of getting clues. I really liked that Evan got to showcase his skills in this book. He’s so amazing and very clever. I’m extremely happy he and Seth found each other. High-action, magical battles, danger, surprise cameos and unexpected twists make for a page-turner you won’t want to put down.

Another gripping story! I’m loving this series!
A thrilling fight against one of the witch disciples that challenges Seth and Evan, with Evan’s past coming back to haunt him and a new fledgling alliance that might just be what they were looking for this is an edge of your seat, haunting suspense and I loved every minute!
I love the fast pace of Morgan’s writing and am coming to love Seth and Evan more with each book. They have faced so many challenges and keep fighting and learning. I really enjoyed the introduction of some new characters and I just can’t wait for the next adventure!
Awesome writing, adventure, suspense, and narration. This series and the author are becoming a must-read for me!!

This is my review of the audiobook:
I love watching Seth and Evan’s relationship grow, as they become a stronger team. This time around, Evan gets to see just what Seth went through when he was trying to save Evan, as they are now trying to save the next potential sacrifice of one of Gremory’s witch-disciples. I love the interaction between these men, and I appreciate the tender moments they manage to fit in despite the scary action they must deal with.
Along with the supernaturally horrific characters, there is also some human evil that has to be dealt with in this installment. It’s enough to keep the reader/listener on the edge of their seat. Be ready for some creepy chills mixed with anger over the things Evan is forced to to go through. On a happy note, our guys finally get some assistance. It’s nice to see them interact with others who know them for who they really are, and can also relate to their life of fighting monsters.
The narrator is the perfect choice for this series, and he does a wonderful job depicting Seth, Evan, and the other characters, as well as describing the wild and terrible things they go through. I really enjoy his performance.
This author is quickly becoming a favorite, and I highly recommend this book and the Witchbane series. I look forward to more!
Seth and Evan are so fun to read about. I love that they both continue to grow as characters, as well as a couple in this story. It was good to see that Evan is not only working with Seth to stop the warlocks, but is also considering working on his mental health and recovery from everything that he has endured over the past couple of years.
I liked how Seth and Evan were able to find allies in this book. It makes the future of this series more dynamic, in my mind, to know that these two hunters may be developing a strong network that they can rely on as they whittle down on the warlocks they are after – especially if each one gets more savvy to their mission as time goes by.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The action is ramping up. Well, it eventually does. We’re “treated” to the leg-work aspect of hunting down immortal dark witches and while the pacing suffers sometimes, it’s interesting to see all the work they put into investigating all the leads, locations, and connections necessary to finding the villain. We also get to see more of the relationship angst as well as Evan’s hard road to recovery from his involvement in the bloody events of Witchbane. There were quite a few things that could have been left in Burn but since it’s a novella that not everyone will read I can see why some of the hesitancy, doubts, and fears are reprised here.
While it takes quite a while to get to the big action there are some inclusions here that bode well for a more interesting series. Additional characters are introduced that will likely play more of a role than an occasional phone call for passing on intel. It seems like a team, a make-shift family is being created to support, aid, and carry the weight of everything they’ll encounter as they try to stop the dark witches. Seth and Evan are creating new traditions as they make sense of a new life while making peace with the old. The confrontation was a lot bigger, more frenetic, and crazier and I absolutely wasn’t expecting any of it. Overall this series is going in a great direction and I’m really excited for more.
