“What’s your name, sweetheart?”….That was the first thing. I wasn’t his sweetheart, and he should have already known my name. But, that was the moment I became caught in Tyler Lohan’s sight. He was wonderful and complicated, and I’d spent my life trying to hate him for being the golden boy who had everything so easy. However, as with all things, Tyler wasn’t the person he appeared to be from … be from the outside, and once I saw him – the real him – I fell, and I don’t think I ever got back up.
There would be a total of forty-seven things that sucked me into Tyler’s life then forced me away. Forty-seven things that ruined me forever.
Forty-seven was never going to be enough.
There was no number great enough…
47 Things. A non-traditional standalone romance that follows a couple as they come to terms with falling love in a world they can’t control, and the certainty of the inevitable.

Wow. Just, wow. This book had me hooked from the very first page. Lilliana’s writing style is one that always grabs my attention and has me not wanting to put the book down. This one was no different.
The more we delved into Sarah and Tylers story, I became more intrigued with what was going on. There are a few things that the reader has to wait to find out, and when I did? NOT what I was expecting at all.
Their story is a really fun one to read, until the moment it leaves you in tears and wishing you could change everything about it. That Lilliana was going to throw out a surprise, and make it all better again.
I devoured this book and I truly loved it. There are some really great characters in it, and I enjoyed being along for the ride with them all. I learnt about a particular thing that I honestly didn’t know that much about before, and even though it ripped my heart out, the ending was exactly what I hoped for after everything the characters had been through.
Not every author can leave you wanting more after tearing out your heart and leaving you with tears streaming down your face, but Lilliana Anderson is one of those authors that can, and I am going to jump right into the follow up book for this story.
This is a book that gives you some really fun moments, makes you feel ALL THE FEELINGS, teaches you some lessons, and wraps up with a little bit of hope and a smile at the end. It sure is a journey, and if you haven’t read it, I recommend that you do. Just be prepared for a little bit of heartache along the way.
I was given an ecopy of this book for an honest review. Lilliana has written a beautiful love story, one of amazing courage. I laughed and cried and yes you will need tissues. Tyler is a remarkable man who learns how to love and trust in the amazing woman, Sarah. This couple will make you think about those in your own life and to never take love for granted. Truly a remarkable book that everyone should read! FYI. This is a story about terminal illness
Grab The Tissues! The Emotions That Drive Both Tyler & Sarah’s Characters Are Vivid And Life-Like, And You Cannot Escape Being Drawn Into Their Heartbreaking Story About Life, Love, And Letting Go.
This is the first book in the 47 Things series. It is Tyler Lohan and Sarah Kennedy’s story. It reads as a standalone. It is no secret that this book is a tear-jerker, but as devastating as it is, the love story is incredibly worthwhile. There is a second book in the series that takes place years later, offering fans a second story about Sarah.
Sarah Kennedy, twenty-one, is approaching finals in her senior year at Sydney University, nearly eight hours from her rural hometown of Moama in New South Wales. She left her family and farming life behind as soon as possible after graduating high school and never looked back. She had never fit into that life. Upon her arrival in Sydney, she had reinvented herself and was happy with the direction of her life. She wants to help people. She and her best friend Janesa are majoring in physiotherapy and are about to begin their careers. But her future begins to shift one fateful day when she slips on a piece of gum.
Tyler Lohan, twenty-two, had been in Sarah’s life ever since she could remember, though she doesn’t recall them ever having had a conversation. He is the only reminder of the life she left behind In Moama and his presence at Sydney University drives her crazy. Even here he is the center of attention, and his drop dead good looks don’t help matters. They managed to share the same major and take many of the same classes over the course of four years and still he hadn’t bothered to acknowledge her. So when he comes to the rescue and admits to being responsible for the piece of gum she tripped on, she is less than happy to have to finally face him under such humiliating circumstances. But as much as she tries to shoo him away, he doesn’t relent in his insistence that he take care of her as she nurses her broken ankle.
Sarah doesn’t want pity or guilt from Tyler, and she stubbornly tries to push him away. It is liking him too much, though, that scares her, because he is nothing like she expected him to be. Tyler’s tenacity eventually wins out over her stubbornness and the two finally get to know one another as Tyler tries to make up for his faux pas. They have an instant comfort with one another, yet both seem to be leery of crossing the line. When Tyler introduces Sarah to some of his friends, she learns a few things about him. He has a bit of a wild side, chasing adrenaline highs. He is also a health and fitness nut. But one piece of information she discovers has her both confused and concerned. Tyler doesn’t do relationships and has a habit of disappearing every so often. Tyler had promised he would help her get around with her cast and she was beginning to depend upon his company. She hopes that she might somehow be special to him, different than the other girls, but that hope dies when Tyler suddenly walks out on her, breaking his promise and leaving her feeling more alone than ever.
Tyler and Sarah’s story delves deep when Tyler eventually reappears. There are secrets. There is adventure. And there is heartbreak. Sarah has to accept Tyler on faith or walk away, because he holds his secrets dear. His love of life is infectious, and his fun loving ways ensure he is always surrounded by friends. Sarah is more of a loner. She does have friends but values her privacy. Tyler pulls her out of her shell, but she also has to live with day-to-day uncertainty if she accepts Tyler into her life. They face tremendous obstacles, but their shared small town history and instant connection give them a foundation to work with as they sort out their lives and their feelings for one another.
Grab the tissues! By my count there were twenty-six teary moments (some of them blended together into longer episodes). The emotions that drive both Tyler and Sarah’s characters are vivid and life-like, and you cannot escape being drawn into their heartbreaking story about life, love, and letting go. The writing is truly inspired. The plot is complex. The characters are carefully crafted and three dimensional. The story is written in first person in Sarah’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
This book broke my heart and it made me sad for days whenever I thought about it
Content Warning: sex scenes and discussion about suicide
I am a reader who loves staying in my comfort zone whenever choosing a book genre that I will read. If a book does not fall in the horror/mystery/suspense/thriller categories then there is a likelihood that I will not read it. Well…that was me before. I suddenly got bored one day of reading the same genre over and over again so I opened my door to other genres and one of my visitors is (Contemporary) Romance. Or maybe I should not have really let Romance in?
Sarah Kennedy and Taylor Lohan have known each other since high school. Both living in a town in the countryside for almost their whole life, they both wanted to come to the city to start a new life.
Sarah hates Tyler for being a golden boy, that everything comes easy for him. Until she finds herself falling for Mr. Golden Boy who is notorious for his disappearing acts without any explanation. Little did Sarah know that Tyler was hiding something from her. A secret he never told anyone, except his mom, as he greatly fears that he will lose the only woman he truly loved – Sarah.
WHAT I LIKE
I have always believed in soulmates. I know there is someone out there truly destined for you to meet and be with forever. Lucky are those people who were able to find someone whom they can truly connect on a deeper level, someone who accepts everything and all of your flaws and imperfections, and someone who brings out the best in you. I like that the author was able to fully capture how it feels having your perfect, forever mate/partner. Despite the shortcomings of both Sarah and Tyler as a couple, they strongly held on to each other in weathering the storms in their relationship.
I also like Tyler’s attitude in life. He acknowledges that life is too short might as well live in the moment and try not to worry too much about the future.
And what an ending, oh boy! I have this thinking that when it comes to Romance stories, it is always like a fairy tale ending: “and they all live happily ever after” and such, but no, this book is not like that. This shall serve as your warning.
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE
I wished I knew more about the two main characters of this book and less of the PDAs. I know, I know this is a Contemporary Romance and what else should I expect? I enjoyed the steamy bed scenes here and there, but it felt like I’m a grumpy old woman watching two lovebirds who can not
seem to stop gushing about each other. I was literally rolling my eyes several times. The story went downhill when Sarah and Tyler became a couple and when I say downhill, it made me feel like I am third wheeling and their PDA’s (LOTS OF IT) has made me uncomfortable and cringed many times.
Just like in any relationship, this book has its own highs and lows.
I would like to thank Lilliana Anderson , the author of 47 Things, for sharing to us the wonderful and heart wrenching story of Sarah and Tyler.
It deserves more than five stars. This is the first book I have read by this author, and it didn’t disappoint me. I heard it was a good ugly cry book, and since it’s hard to make me that way, I was a bit sceptical. But, it was that and more. It’s a beautifully written heartbreaking story, that was so realistic, I was sucked right into the book, and left a sobbing mess at the end.
Did not turn out as I thought it would, it was even better in the way it fooled me right up to the last parts. Very good book about sad but realistic events. Loved the characters!!!!!
Story was different and I too have suffered losses, book touched my heart.
light read but kept my attention, unpredictable in the beginning and differenent
Omg! If you like romantic tearjerkers this book will certainly give you that!

Enjoyed reading 47 Things — was a love story and alot of tears through the book.
Very good read.
This book grabbed me from the getgo. I enjoy characters so well written you feel as though you know them. It is one element that makes a good read. In this case, keep the tissues close and enjoy.
This book was a bit hard to finish, once I realized what was coming, but I also couldn’t stop till I got to the last page. Have tissues handy.
Beautiful love story with tragic ending, especially when I know a number of people with MS.
very forgettable but i vaguely remember thinking it was one level above the usual drivel.
