From the author of Prescott Family, comes the next installment in the Enforcers of San Diego interconnected series, featuring a widower father who learns: sometimes forever has been in front of you all along…After growing up in a household without a mother and with a father who could not care less, Mikey Leeds took his world into his own hands. Being drafted into the Ontario Hockey League at … Hockey League at seventeen, then the National Hockey League at eighteen, should have been the height of his dreams…but that was only the icing on the cake.
Moving to Canada for hockey was only the beginning of the good life. It also brought him Trina Perri.
Life was good.
Life was perfect.
And it all came crashing down one night in late December.
Year after year, the twenty-second of December brings darkness into Mikey’s life. He can’t catch a break.
This December, he’s taking a page from his own book. He’s going to take back his life, and not let hockey superstitions hold him back.
He has an angel on his side, while another has always been in front of him.
He just needs to see the assist for what it is, and not let her go…
Again.
This is a standalone in an interconnected series. It is not necessary to read the previous Enforcers of San Diego books, however characters from that series, as well as Prescott Family, will make appearances!

I’ve never read a Mykel book that I didn’t enjoy and this collection did not disappoint. Leeds and Molly were a good couple. It was great seeing how Leeds have grown since the death of his wife. It was also great reading about the conflict he has with “liking” his wife’s bff. Loved the buildup in their relationship – a good mix of funny, sexy, and witty. More please!
After a rough childhood, Mikey Leeds changed his life for the better. He got himself a great career playing a sport he loved, a loving wife and a baby. Then he lost his wife on a fateful December night.
Molly has been with Mikey’s family since his wife was alive. More than Anderson’s nanny and the only mother he’s ever known, she was Trina’s friend.
After years of pushing and pulling, Mikey has decided to come to terms with his feelings for Molly, but her position in his household and her misplaced loyalty to his late wife, keep preventing them from moving forward.
I really enjoyed Mikey and Molly’s story. Once again the author delivers a fast paced, well written story filled with a love that conquers all. The backstory and the way they both relate to Trina were among my favorite parts of the book.
I’m once again left with the feeling of having spent time with family and can’t wait for whatever Mignon gives us next.
I have to go with five stars on this one, it has it all. I love hockey player romance, I love the relationships within a hockey team, and I love to revisit characters from earlier in the series. Hockey players seem to love harder than any other hero and Mikey is no different, his love for Molly and Anderson is so full and complete you can just feel it through the pages. The women who love hockey players are so special. This book had great characters and a well-written storyline. Easy to recommend this book if you love a great love story with lots of emotion.
Mikey’s story broke my heart. He never had much of a family to speak of, so when he fell in love with his wife, his world was perfect until one night shattered it all and left him alone with his young son. The one person who saw him through his darkest days was his wife’s best friend and their nanny Molly. Somewhere over the years, Molly became Mikey and his son’s family and he never even saw it coming. The feelings between Mikey and Molly are so real, but Molly is so torn because she saw the love between Mikey and Trina and doesn’t ever think he can love her the same way.
This is such a good story about moving on and finding love the second time around. Mikey and Molly took a lot of years to get to where they ended up, but they were meant to be. Molly was a fierce mother figure to Anderson even as the nanny. It was hard not to love her as she looked after this little boy as her own. This was such a good read in this series. I wish it was a little longer of a story since I didn’t want it to end.
All I can say about this book, is that it did not disappoint. Mike Leeds found his HEA with a few hiccups on the way. I absolutely loved reading this book, though this is mike’s book, we get to see how his friends are coping. Ms. Mykel brings in the element of life in her books ( this is a fictional series). I look forward to reading the next book in this series, which I have a feeling will bring in a lot more emotions and we will see how everyone is coping with their lives.
