Eighteen is hard.
And so is Mateo Alesci.
Hard to read, hard to predict, hard in every way that counts.
He wants things from me.
Dirty things, nasty things, forbidden things.
And I have to give in.
His attention is completely inappropriate, but I can’t say no.
The way he looks at me… the way he watches me through my bedroom window… the way he drags me deeper and deeper into his completely … deeper into his completely forbidden fantasy just… turns me on.
He knows it turns me on.
He holds all the power. He holds all the cards. He holds my entire future in his hands.
And I have to give in.
Because Mr. Alesci is my teacher.
And I need everything he’s offering.

I was asked to list a book that took me out of my comfort zone. I read at least a book a day. But this one stuck in my mind. I read it almost a year ago. When I originally saw this I was turned off by the title.. I know- don’t judge a book by it’s cover (or title), I knew better. It was a great read, well developed characters and a solid plot that was followed throughout the book. Lots of steamy scenes and some real eye poppers that you do not see coming.
So … I’m not really like huge into the teacher/student trope, so I knew I’d have some reservations with this one, but I was happily able to let them go and just ride the wave.
Julie has a very laid-back writing style, and it just makes it easy to sink into. These are gray characters for sure, if you’re into teacher-student, this is definitely one to check out. I would not say there’s much redemption for him here, and honestly, I think that’s better.
If a teachers going to get into sexing up an 18 year old high school senior, I’d rather the author didn’t twist herself into a pretzel trying to make us think that’s okay. It’s better if he just owns that he’s a bit of a dick.
There were some twists in here that left me conflicted in terms of plotting. The dark hour kinda blasted out of nowhere, but honestly, I didn’t care. This is an easy to read, no frills, smutty face-dive into teacher trope, and I was fine with it.
If you’re into sexy, a humorous sarcastic character voice, a strong female lead, this is a good one!
Wow, another crazy JA Huss story. A hot & steamy teacher-student romance. The steaminess comes quickly in this book, just the way I like it! Mateo & Shannon left me wanting more. You definitely need to read/listen to this book. Excellent narration by Ava Erickson!
Eighteen has everything I love in a romance and more. Matteo is as sexy as they come, and Shannon with her sassy mouth was a joy to read. This well written coming of age storyline has sex and drugs, angst and loss, and a teenager who’s just trying to find her way in the world. It’s brilliant and Ava Erickson being the amazing narrator she is, brought the story to life! I highly recommend it.
I didn’t know what to expect but Julie is known to mess with your mind. I have read a few very great teacher/student romances and a couple not so good ones. This story isn’t your typical teacher/student romance. Mr. Alesci was such a Alpha male, he was very possessive and took control. He wasn’t afraid of being caught. He had a very laid-back attitude. There is a bit of a love-triangle at the beginning but it won’t bother you though (I hate love triangles, but didn’t mind it at all in this book).
I didn’t know what to think of Mr. Alesci, did he really like her or was he playing Shannon. I had my doubts throughout the book but that is just what Julie does to readers. It makes the book so much more exciting because you don’t know what to expect. Shannon lives with her no good brother-in-law and her baby niece and is just trying to graduate and survive being eighteen.
I don’t want to say too much, you have to read and experience it yourself. I do wish the book was longer. I did like the way it ended. I do wonder if it ended the same way for the person on who the story is based on (Because this story is based on a true story!!). That person had a very interesting life at eighteenth. Julie is such a diverse writer, she comes up the most unique story-lines. (All of them are super hot and sexy though)
Well I don’t know about you, but I’m all hot for teacher! Damn this book was not only really good but wicked hot too.
I really like Shannon, but her life kinda sucked. Moved around with her sister, there’s no roots for her. You can’t help but feel bad for her, poor girl couldn’t catch a break.
“Invisible, that’s what I am. I guess I should get used to it.”
I just need a minute to talk about Mateo. Hello there you. Mr. Astronomer, Mr. Adventurous. Mr. Mega Hotness. At first I wasn’t sure what was going on with him. I thought we were going to have a stage four creeper on our hands. But oh no! He just really has a hard on for Shannon and just wants to be her friend.
“I’m gonna be seeing a lot of you, Shannon Drake. There’s no way in hell you’ll be invisible to me.”
Oh man, what a story. I really enjoyed this one, like a lot. Pretty much all the characters blow me away. I think it’s time for a reread!
I LOVED it!
