On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? Stephen King’s heart-stoppingly dramatic new novel is about a man who travels back in time to prevent the JFK assassination—a thousand page tour de force.
Following his massively successful novel Under the Dome, King sweeps readers back in time to another … to another moment—a real life moment—when everything went wrong: the JFK assassination. And he introduces readers to a character who has the power to change the course of history.
Jake Epping is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, who makes extra money teaching adults in the GED program. He receives an essay from one of the students—a gruesome, harrowing first person story about the night 50 years ago when Harry Dunning’s father came home and killed his mother, his sister, and his brother with a hammer. Harry escaped with a smashed leg, as evidenced by his crooked walk.
Not much later, Jake’s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane—and insanely possible—mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake’s life – a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.
A tribute to a simpler era and a devastating exercise in escalating suspense, 11/22/63 is Stephen King at his epic best.

One of Stephen King’s best!
Very different but what if JFK hadn’t been killed and Oswald wasn’t the killer??

It’s Steven King. What more needs to be said other than this is a well-written book guaranteed to be another best seller. King has tapped into the realm of the truly blessed. There’s talent, good fortune, success, recognition, and the motivation to produce a body of work few will match, let alone exceed.
Such a great twist in history….very much a page turner
I thought it was super!
I loved this book! By far one of my favorites.
This is in my top ten all favorites!
An immersive experience.
I loved this book. Stephen King did a great job with time travel and I usually do not like time travel at all. I decided to read it based on the title, figuring it would have something to do with Kennedy’s assassination. He was very thorough in describing the different decades. A very interesting read!
I wasn’t sold on this book because of the cover–just not something I was excited about for a King book because it reminded me of his Delores Clayborne/Gerald’s Game days. I had a long flight and was in the mood for an epic read, so I took a chance. And I’m glad I did. King masterfully weaves history into his fantastical setting. It was fun & …
This is my go-to book for anyone of my friends who wants to read a Stephen King book but doesn’t want something scary. I could not put this book down. This is the first book for me that wrote about time travel that made sense. I spend a week on vacation and read every day I could. The main character is written so well, you feel as if you are put …
I loved it. The story is wonderful. I love seeing the 60’s come to life. It really gave me a glimpse of a world I’ve never known.
I read King many many years ago and also liked his writing. However, there came a time when he just didn’t keep my interest enough to finish his books. Then I spied this book and just the title made me want to read it. Another ‘supposition’ about JFK’s assassination and time travel: what’s not to like? This was one that kept me interested …
