#1 New York Times Bestseller Winner of the 2014 Living Now Book Award for Inspirational Memoir“An enormously smart, clear-eyed, brave-hearted, and quite personal look at the benefits of meditation.”—Elizabeth GilbertNightline anchor Dan Harrisembarks on an unexpected, hilarious, and deeply skeptical odyssey through the strange worlds of spirituality and self-help, and discovers a way to get … skeptical odyssey through the strange worlds of spirituality and self-help, and discovers a way to get happier that is truly achievable.
After having a nationally televised panic attack, Dan Harris knew he had to make some changes. A lifelong nonbeliever, he found himself on a bizarre adventure involving a disgraced pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a gaggle of brain scientists. Eventually, Harris realized that the source of his problems was the very thing he always thought was his greatest asset: the incessant, insatiable voice in his head, which had propelled him through the ranks of a hypercompetitive business, but had also led him to make the profoundly stupid decisions that provoked his on-air freak-out.
Finally, Harris stumbled upon an effective way to rein in that voice, something he always assumed to be either impossible or useless: meditation, a tool that research suggests can do everything from lower your blood pressure to essentially rewire your brain. 10% Happier takes readers on a ride from the outer reaches of neuroscience to the inner sanctum of network news to the bizarre fringes of America’s spiritual scene, and leaves them with a takeaway that could actually change their lives.

Just the right mix of self-help and plot line to keep you reading along. I didn’t know who Dan Harris was before reading, but I loved reading about his life and journey.
This is a memoir from Dan Harris on how he was before and after mediation. I found this interesting on how it changed and improved his life. If you are wondering if medication would be good for you, this would be a good book to read.
Improve your life through meditation. Even poor meditators derive benefits!
Opened a new world to me
Loved Dan Harris! So funny, so witty! A wonderful view on meditation, especially for us beginners!
I loved this book! It was the rare combination of laugh out loud funny, and totally inspirational. I have recommended the book to all of my friends, and several of my acupuncture patients. I continue to refer back to the book, and will probably do so for a very long time.
Wonderful, fun to read, and extremely inspiring!
This man was clearly inspired by meditation and its merits. I can’t say I will be a convert, but I have already given a couple of his tricks a try and it really does make a difference in the way I view things. He write with great enthusiasm, wit and heart – I think you’ll enjoy the quick read as something more that a self-help book.
Interesting to hear a unique journey to mindfulness
A balanced and candid memoir of one who waded into the world of pop religious culture and survived with some Wisdom intact.
I”m definitely a meditation sceptic but enjoyed this book by Dan Harris which deals with his breakdown and eventual dedication to his particular type of mediation– which is much easier for many of us skeptics to attain! I’m a beginning to see that it might hold some possibilities for me– something I never thought I’d say!
very interesting and entertaining
I am always looking for a way to stop the constant chatter in my head that tends to be negative. This book is easy to read, kept me engaged, and gave me answers.
