This is a great read. It exposes the urban legends of Christian belief. My eyes are now open to some of the religious traditions that are biblically false. I can’t believe that I had actually accepted many of these. No more! I have had a reality check through this book.
Larry Osborne’s Ten Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe will help new believers and seasoned Christians alike. People often believe what they’ve heard without knowing why. Larry pierces through widely accepted spiritual legends with common sense and scriptural precision.
Some of these are pretty obvious, but some are not. Amazing what people Believe is true. Book breaks down false beliefs and lays out the truth.
Makes one evaluate one’s own beliefs.
I think that everyone who calls themselves a Christian should read this book. It’s that good, and that important. It has opened my eyes to some things that I’ve thought, and believed, that were unscriptural. I don’t think that I mis believed knowingly, but because I took someone else’s word when I should have gone to the Bible for myself. Read this book!!! It’s not all didactic and preach-y, it’s more as if you had a really good friend who just happened to be a great bible scholar who can explain things. Terrific book. My husband and I are going to use it for a bible study group.
I disagreed with one of his chapters, but the other 9 I thought were very true and helpful for people who may not have really thought about those issues.
Lots can be learned from reading this wonderful book. There are so many Christians who can learn a lot that makes them more effective, more loving, and more understanding. Wish I had read it 20 years ago, but of course it wasn’t around them. As a retired 50 + minister who I hope never stops learning, I sincerely hope you would read this informative book. I highly recommend this book and give it a 5 star and more if I could. Blessings
Very well written book. Enjoyable to read and solid guidance.
This book sounded like it would have interesting and new facts but I found it was boring. I read some of it but couldn’t finish it. There wasn’t anything I found helpful. Pass
Examples do not always help to make the issue clear, but most of his points are spot on. Wished more people would read to understand that just because you heard somebody say it, doesn’t make it true. Great read for a new Christian or an old Christian seeking truth.
Makes you stop and think about what you believe. Are your beliefs really your own or hand me downs.
