BOOK HANGOVER! Get comfy and get your snacks at the ready. Once you start this book you will not be able to put it down until you finished it. It will also make you put your Do Not Disturb I’m Reading sign on your door.
While Dylan is Swoon Worthy and Marya is one strong woman who reminds me of my own mother working 3 and 4 jobs while raising my brother and sister on her own until my dad came into the picture. Dylan is the Knight In Shining Armor that Marya needs. The fireworks definitely goes off between them.
This book is intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat while your trying to figure out who did it.
Marya and Dylan are swoon worthy. But also very realistic in their problems and parental situations.
Marya worries she would be too old for the handsome FBI agent, and Dylan, like Marya, is a single parent trying to do his best to work and be both parents his kiddo.
Sparks fly with Marya….and I am glad she just doesn’t immediately insta lust Dylan, it is a strong building of relationships. She doesn’t NEED him, but she learns to let him help her and be her protector in all his alpha hotness! Marya is so dedicated and loyal to those around her, you instantly cheer for her to have her happy ever after. The book takes a suspenseful turn, as Dylan’s child abduction case hits too close to home…literally.
Such a fantastic book. It is definitely getting tagged in my reread pile!
Marya is a single mom to three active boys. She works two jobs to keep her family afloat – she struggles financially because the boys’ father isn’t around. Dylan is an FBI agent and single father, and he’s interested in Marya. He thinks they have more in common than just their sons playing soccer together, and doesn’t care about their age difference. The friendship between two single parents begins to grow to more than just friends, and he becomes so protective when her ex shows up. The suspense of the case that Dylan is involved in just adds more layers of interest in this story. This is the first book I’ve read in this series, but I’ve read a couple of her other books, and she never fails to deliver an amazing story.

4.5 Stars
I’m a big fan of this series and the fourth book didn’t disappoint. I was hooked right from the beginning. I gobble up single parent romances so this one was right up my alley. I loved Marya. She’s dealing with a lot, but she has the strength to parent her three children. She’s a kick ass mom and she devotes her time to her family. That’s why having Dylan enter life is so rewarding. She deserves someone like him in her corner. He has a little boy himself so he’s not put off by Marya’s brood. Dylan and Marya have great chemistry and you can feel the connection. Though this book has plenty of light funny moments this book does touch on some serious topics. I’m not gonna lie there is one subject matter that’s tough to read. It breaks my heart along with my anger. I give props to Freya Barker because she handles it respect that it deserves. If you haven’t given this series a read you’re really missing out on some gripping reads.
Gah!! Where do I start!!!! I’m still processing all the feelings from 10-Code.
Okay, first……If you have not read this series……rectify that now!!!! This is Book 4, it can be read as a stand-alone but I highly encouraged you to start at book 1, Keeping 6.
Freya Barker is one of those authors that always brings her “A” game to her books. 10-Code is no exception, she nailed it!!! I was curious about how the title came about and she answered that question…..right in the book!
Marya and her boys won my heart. We were given a little intro to her in a previous book and oh my….this woman deserves her own story and I am so happy Ms. Barker gave it to her! Dylan and his son were perfect! Both have that need to protect (just like Marya’s boys) and they all wanted to protect Marya.
10-Code hit on a deep subject and the way Ms. Barker handled it was utter perfection. She grabbed me immediately from chapter 1…..I started this book at around 5:00pm on Friday night and I finished it at 8:00am Saturday morning…..yes that is the following day (mind you I did fall asleep for about 5 hrs). That to me is a great book and a fine example of an amazing author; when they can suck you in right from the start.

Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite genres. And done well it just makes me giddy. The suspense plot must be gripping, interesting, and satisfying AND at the same time… the romance must be believable and hot with a dash of swoon. Right here, people! I adore this series and have gobbled up each book like the tastiest of chocolates. 10-Code features single mom, Marya. She is definitely no damsel in distress. She works hard to raise her sons, but has left little time to form any romantic relationships. And after her abominable first husband….who needs the aggravation? She’s a strong woman and has no problem depending only on herself. Nothing beats a hot single dad and Dylan sure fits the bill. I so enjoyed his loving relationship with his son. He is attracted to Marya physically and emotionally and when he decides to pursue her……. look out! Marya has some misgivings since there is an age difference, but that is not the focal point here. He quickly gets her to see that they are suited. And they are. The main plot focuses on serious and urgent issues. I thought I had the villain all figured out and then…… BOOM!!! I was waaaaay off base! And I was tickled to be so surprised. If you love a compelling suspense plot and strong romance then this one is for you. Can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!

10-Code is another Freya Barker masterpiece. I don’t know how she does it. EVERY. TIME. With EVERY book. She delivers realistic characters dealing with everyday issues…..suspenseful storylines…..heart wrenching tragedy broken up with laugh out loud humor. It’s some of the best Contemporary Romantic Suspense out now.
Dylan and Marya are both single parents. Marya has 3 boys (13,11 & 8) and Dylan has an 11 year old son. They both have been hurt by their previous spouses abandonment and are cautious when it comes to introducing their young children to someone new. But when they open their hearts to each other AND the children the love spills over.
10-Code had me absolutely riveted. I stayed up waaaaaay to late reading and up early the next morning to finish. I can not recommend this book (and series) enough. LOVE LOVED LOVED IT.

Fantastic read!
Heartfelt bittersweet and passionate story, I was swept into this story from beginning to end.
This exciting and intense read is more than a romance between a younger single dad, FBI agent Dylan and older mother of three divorcee Marya.
Their chemistry is undeniable, and as a crime unfolds in their community, Dylan and Marya have more to worry about than their slow burn attraction. In fact, this is what made their story so special and unique.
What unfolds in the story had me loving them even more individually and as a couple.
The characters, even the secondary characters were well developed, likable and relatable. I felt the heartache and pain Marya endured during some of the heart wrenching moments in this story.
The kids and the grand parents were also stars in this story.
The developments that unfolded, had so much heart, it was so real and relatable, I couldn’t wait to see how it was all going to end.
I was only sorry it came to an end.
Dylan was super sexy, down to earth kind of guy with a lot of baggage. My only issue was with, I didn’t get to learn more about his back story.
4.5 stars!
So the things I love about this author and her books are a) they are action packed to the point that you can’t point down the kindle and b) the characters are older, mature and have kids. They have settled into their lives with their jobs and families. Marya and Dylan are no different.
Marya is 42 with 3 very active boys. She keeps busy and never had time for a man. Dylan comes along and changes that. Dylan is younger but neither care. Dylan is a FBI agent and a dad. He handles things well for his demanding job. Him and Marya work well together. They have a connection but take it slow.. They focus on the boys, soccer and his job. They handle things remarkably well for the stress you know it has to have on them. Boys are disappearing, crazy ex is coming around and boys are acting out. This brings some tension into their lives and they have to balance it out. Marya seems to handle this without any major freak outs. These two really do complete each other and their families mesh really well together. The boys all play together which is always nice. This book will keep you hooked until the very end and honestly will never guess who is the one taking the boys. It was a bit disturbing but its something that happens alot. This book was well written with characters you fall for, root for and maybe cry a little or at least I did. I enjoyed every sweet, heart racing moments that are in this book. Very well Done!
The fourth book in the Rock Point series a book that kept me turning pages, a great storyline with a story that flowed smoothly from page to page. What sick men those two where. This is Dylan and his son Max, Marya and her three sons Theo, Harry, and Liam who will have so much to go through and the rest of their families and friends story. I hope there is going to be more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Marya for Dylan!! This couple was a fantastic match and their story kept me entertained from beginning to end. I love how this series has mystery and action mixed in with the romance and that small town feeling. I didn’t know if the Author could top Luna’s story for me but this series just grows stronger as it goes. It’s a stand-alone but I highly recommend starting from the first so you can enjoy catching up with old friends like I do! I just want to add that this Author writes stories with children like no other…they add to the story in a way that I truly enjoy. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
10-Code knocked the wind out of me. This story was chaotic, frightening, heart wrenching, and quite important.
Marya Berger is a single mom who is raising three boys ages 8-13. She does the best she can and is lucky to have her mom nearby to give her a much-needed hand. Marya works two jobs and doesn’t have an easy life but truly loves her boys.
Dylan Barnes is an FBI agent who we’ve met in a few of Freya’s other books. He a single dad; his son Max is almost eleven years old and, turns out, he’s also on Marya’s son, Liam’s, soccer team.
The two know each other because she works in Kerry’s bookstore. Kerry’s husband, Damian, is Dylan’s boss.
While watching their boys play soccer, so much is going on: The good stuff? These two are definitely into each other. We also get to meet Dylan’s fabulous mom, Beth, and her husband, Clint. Of course, I couldn’t help but fall in love with those two and how much love they have for Dylan and their grandson, Max.
Now … the rough part of the story stems right from that same soccer field. It’s frightening how something so sinister, horrifying, and evil is lurking around two boys have been abducted.
There’s a sad but necessary message that shouts loud and clear from pages of 10-Code. I don’t have small children anymore, but those who do should take heed and be vigilant as to what their children are playing on their gaming systems and who they interact with.
This story will leave the reader on the edge of their seat as all the badasses who we love from Freya’s Rock Point series go full out in finding the scum of the earth harming these children. The anxiety and helplessness of everyone is front and center at the very same time Marya and Dylan are forming a brand new … something!
Freya Barker does it again and never disappoints her readers. The storyline blew me away, but the supporting characters bring so much depth that the pages are bursting as one chapter flows perfectly to the next.
10–Code is another gem by the one and only, Freya Barker. Five stars aren’t enough. I can’t recommend this one enough!
Marya is a harried mother of three boys. Their father isn’t in the picture (thank God), but that absence has taken its toll on the boys, especially her middle child, Liam. Thank God then that Liam realizes the friend he’s been playing Fortnite with is a boy on his soccer team. A boy whose father Marya knows through her boss, and that father happens to be the younger man she’s been drooling over for awhile now.
Dylan too is a single parent, and his son is his life. But when his son’s online gaming friend turns out to be Liam, whose mother Dylan has noticed but never really talked with beyond the casual, he thanks God for how small the world is. But things aren’t going to be that easy when the case he’s working hits far too close to home. Will Dylan be able to protect (without overwhelming) Marya and their 4 kids, and solve the case at the same time?
I’ve really enjoyed the Rock Point series so far, and 10-Code is definitely my favorite, and the best yet. Marya and Dylan have so much chemistry, and I love the way they fall into a relationship naturally and realistically. The suspense, the case Dylan’s working on, is the bones of the story, and it gives them even more points of merging their lives, but it doesn’t overtake the romantic relationship that is developing. Speaking of the case – it’s a heavy one, with a doozy of a subject, so a bit of warning, but it’s not too graphic or anything. All in all, 10-Code is fabulous – suspenseful, sexy, emotionally driven with a wonderful cast of primary and secondary characters. I can’t wait for what’s to come next in the Rock Point world because this one is fabulous!
10-Code follows Dylan’s story as he starts a relationship with Marya. Both have children and Marya is hesitant about getting involved with Dylan as he is several years younger than her. As they start dating young boys start to disappear and as Dylan and the FBI are trying to figure it out one of Marya’s sons is taken. Really enjoyed another book from this series.
She hasn’t even considered getting involved with a man. She has three males, all under teenage males, she’s supporting as a divorced forty-one-year-old with no help from their missing dad. Doesn’t mean she hasn’t looked at the hot FBI agent who comes into the bookstore-coffee bar where she works for his bosses wife and her friend. He’s too young. Yet when they meet out of work at their sons’ soccer game things change. Marya talks a good fight that she’s not interested in dating especially a younger man. He says it’s just taking the kids for a burger and promises not to try any moves. At least that what he tells her.
Their budding romance is just plain fun to watch, trying to find time and privacy with four boys. Thank the stars for grandparents–matchmaking grandparents. Things take a turn when boys from the same soccer league as their kids turn up missing. The case goes to Dylan’s field office and he gets involved in the case.
There is so much more but no spoilers here. I couldn’t put the book down. I loved it from cover to cover and was delighted to find out it was a series and some of the other characters have their own stand-alone stories. The merging of families is a good story and gives hope to those busy parents who don’t think there is a chance for them. If Dylan and Mayra can make it work–anyone can.
5 Stars
What a fantastic read! Every character in this story was well written and I loved the amount of interaction seen from Dylan’s work life as well as his and Marya’s personal life. This book is filled with suspense, laughs, love and intensity. You will be on the edge of your seat while loving every interaction between all the boys, their parents and of course Dylan and Marya’s sweet and sexy interactions. I cannot recommend this book enough!
Cara – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
A single mother, single father romance with a twist (and a bit of mystery). Both Marya & Dylan are single, both are parents and both are not looking for a romantic attachment but unexpected events keep these two crossing paths and it becomes harder to ignore their attraction. Another well done read with a little bit of everything to fill the readers hearts and a fun older woman/younger man dynamic. Book four in the Rock Point series, a HEA that can be read as a stand alone. Definitely don’t miss this one, add to your TBR list now.
Who is Marya? Never has it been more evident to me about 3 children (in this case Liam, Theo, and Harry) being so radically different from one another with thoughts and actions. Who is Dylan Barnes? We learn something about Dylan that surprised me! We get to meet Max. He and Liam become fast friends, why and how? I find myself really disliking Jeremy. Who is he? What is going on with Liam that has his mother and grandmother noticing his behavior changes and attitude issues? Who is Seth Mayer and why does he end up on Dylan’s radar? Who is Toni? I forgot about Arrow’s Edge MC. How do they get involved in what is going on? I forgot how much I love Ouray and Paco! I forgot about Luna’s ties to the MC. Read and see what is going on in this very suspenseful romance!

I feel like I’m always saying this, but I can’t help it. Freya Barker is a masterful story teller. Her books never fail to completely captivate me and with every new release I’m reminded just how incredibly talented she is. 10-Code is yet another book that hooks you practically from page one. Every page you turn there’s more and more pulling you deeper and deeper into Mayra and Dylan’s story until you’re completely oblivious to the world around you. Thrilling suspense, heart melting romance and jaw dropping moments all made better by characters that are amazingly real.
So many things hit close to home for me in this book from the situation with the children to the beautifully real love that exists between Dylan and Mayra. They’re another in an endless list of couples I will probably read over and over again for years to come from Freya Barker. Their relationship is just so natural and sweet you can’t help but fall in love with their love.
As much as I was busy falling for them together I was also loving them as individuals. Raised by a single mother myself I recognized first hand how real all Mayra sacrificed and how hard she worked for her children was. She’s one amazingly strong woman! Same with Dylan. A dedicated father in his own right he really is the perfect other half to her.
10-Code will have you swooning and on the edge of your seat all at once in a way you can’t find in any other book.
10-Code Rock Point/La Plata County FBI Book 4 by Freya Barker is a new FBI romantic suspense which returns to Rock Point and is the fourth book in this series. While there is character crossover from the previous books in this series, it can be easily read as a standalone without confusion.
Marya Berger had her dead-beat husband walk out on her and their three boys five years ago. With the help of her mother and working two jobs, she has done her best. Between the boys, her jobs and her past poor dating choices, Marya does not have the time or energy for romance.
FBI agent Dylan Barnes is firmly focused on his career and his son. He is very lucky to have his mother and step-dad close to help with his son when his job interferes. At his son’s soccer game, Dylan is surprised when Marya shows up. He learns her middle son plays on the team and the two boys have a lot in common. This Marya is different than the buttoned up woman he buys coffee from at the book store. She is spirited and sarcastic and he finds he cannot quit thinking about her.
When a young boy the same age as both Marya and Dylan’s sons disappears, and Marya’s ex-husband shows up out of the blue demanding to see the boys, Dylan is torn between his job and his need to protect Marya and her boys.
This is a wonderful romance with two people who truly deserve each other and a HEA. The road had more than enough bumps in it between Marya’s ex-husband, Dylan’s ex-fling and the suspense plot surrounding the boys. The sex scenes are explicit and realistic as they try to just grab whatever time is available as they deal with everything going on in their jobs and lives. Ms. Barker has the characters dealing with what age to get children cell phones, on-line gaming, predator danger and codes for dangerous situations.
This is another home run from this author. Her characters are always flawed in ways everyone can relate to, the romance is hot and the suspense keeps you turning the pages to the end. Excellent book, excellent series and excellent author. I highly recommend you pick up a Freya Barker romantic suspense and get reading!
Freya hit this one out of the park. I think this is my favorite one in the series so far.
Dylan is an FBI agent who is a single father to an 11 year old son. We first met Dylan in Upper Hand, in the Cedar Creek series, his mom is Beth and Clint is his step dad. He has noticed Marya for quite sometime.
We met Marya in Keeping 6, she manages Kerry’s bookstore. As a single mom of 3 boys, ages 8, 11 and 13, she has not had an easy go of things. Abandoned by her ex-husband 5 years prior and a bad dating experience, she doesn’t have time for romantic entanglements, add to that, Dylan is 8 years her junior and she feels the age difference will be a problem for her.
Dylan and Marya come to find that both their sons, Liam and Max are on the same soccer team and a friendship develops from the stands as they watch their sons play.
Dylan is knee deep in a child abduction case which starts to hit home for both of them, since they have kids the same age, then add in the return of Marya’s estranged husband, and these two can’t help but develop a relationship. It truly is a beautiful thing to read.
I loved watching the relationship grow between Dylan and Marya as well as the relationship with the kids. They become this blended family and Dylan is so protective and supportive of Marya.
Freya always writes the most amazing friendships and relationships and add in a little suspense and you have a recipe for a great novel.
This is a must read!
