Sophie wants one thing for Christmas—a little freedom from her overprotective parents. So when they decide to spend Christmas in South Louisiana with her very pregnant older sister, Sophie is looking forward to some much needed private (read: make-out) time with her long-term boyfriend, Griffin. Except it turns out that Griffin wants a little freedom from their relationship. Cue devastation. … Heartbroken, Sophie flees to her grandparents’ house, where the rest of her boisterous extended family is gathered for the holiday. That’s when her nonna devises a (not so) brilliant plan: Over the next ten days, Sophie will be set up on ten different blind dates by different family members. Like her sweet cousin Sara, who sets her up with a hot guy at an exclusive underground party. Or her crazy aunt Patrice, who signs Sophie up for a lead role in a living nativity. With a boy who barely reaches her shoulder. And a screaming baby. When Griffin turns up unexpectedly and begs for a second chance, Sophie feels more confused than ever. Because maybe, just maybe, she’s started to have feelings for someone else . . . Someone who is definitely not available. This is going to be the worst Christmas break ever . . . or is it?

Just finished this book yesterday. I really loved it and the family and all the characters. This book had everything funny, worry, heartbreak, friendship and most important family. Highly recommend this book for reading anytime not just a holiday read. This is one of my 2019 favorites. The author did amazing job the writing style.
About Book-
Sophie is a young sixteen year old excited to spend Christmas break with her boyfriend. But over hearing him talking bout their relationship with her friends she spends Christmas with her grandmother and aunts and uncles. While her mother and father spend Christmas with her older sister who is pregnant. Her grandmother then suggest family members pick Sophie a date.
Very funny with well-defined characters. I looked forward to what came next and tried to figure out what the different relatives would do.
Great book with loveable characters. I was invested in how it was going to turn out for Sophie. There are some laugh out loud funny situations that are gems.
I truly thought this book was so much fun! I recommended it to my daughter and granddaughter. Some teen angst but mostly just a fun read.
Cute YA Romance, with fantastic family elements. A great Christmas time read.
Another fun read with the holidays intertwined. With Christmas right around the corner and an unexpected break from her boyfriend Sophie’s family sets her up with ten blind dates. While spending the holidays at her grandparents, she reforms friendships and relationships with her family members along with growing personally. What will each date bring for Sophie?
This book reminded me why I love YA so much. Sophie’s parents decide to spend Christmas break with Sophie’s older sister who is pregnant and on bed rest. Sophie agrees to stay with her grandparents but secretly thinks this will lead to alone time with her boyfriend Griffin. Unfortunately, that wasn’t his plan. Heartbroken Sophie rushes to her grandparents house where she has her extended family together for the holidays. Sophie reunites with her cousins and the neighbor who she once was really close with. Reading about this foursome and their close relationships was incredibly sweet. Her grandmother comes up with a plan to cheer up Sophie. She decides that the family will set Sophie up on 10 blind dates. A different family member chooses each activity and the guy. Let’s just say some dates were better than others!
I loved Sophie’s crazy extended family. They truly show her how much they love her and care about her happiness. Sophie’s concern for her sister and her baby was very special to me. It reminded me of when I became an aunt. Sophie really goes through many thoughts as she’s trying to deal with her fears regarding her sister, her college plans, what she should do about Griffin, her relationships with her cousins…so many emotions and decisions that as a senior in high school can be a bit overwhelming.
Of course, this is also a cute romance and I loved seeing the little moments between Sophie and the love interest. If you like YA romcoms or you have a teen who does, this is the best book to read over winter break. I’ve already handed it over to my teen and can’t wait to discuss it with her.
I really enjoyed this cute ya Christmas book. The whole concept of being set up on blind dates by your family is the set up for a great story. I loved the whole family aspect of the story. I cried and laughed while reading this one. It was awesome. I would recommend.
10 Blind Dates checks all the boxes! It’s endearingly sweet and full of a loud, in-your-business family that is obnoxiously lovable.
When Sophie attempts to surprise her boyfriend, she’s in for a surprise herself. She overhears him calling her boring and happily anticipating their holidays apart. A confrontation and a break-up leaves her a mess on her grandmother’s doorstep. Sophie’s grandmother schemes with the rest of the family to set her up on 10 blind dates to brighten Sophie’s spirits. Sophie’s attitude and reactions are too cute!
A friend recommended this read and I’m so glad she did! Everyone needs a light and bright feel good holiday book.
When Sophie’s boyfriend breaks up with her right before Christmas, her large extended family decides to set her up on a series of blind dates. Ten, in fact, ending with New Year’s Eve. Each family member gets to pick and arrange a date, not telling Sophie anything but the time and how to dress. It starts as a great way to get over her ex and rekindle bonds with family members, but what happens when her ex returns, begging for forgiveness? Or when Sophie develops unlikely feelings for someone else?
I absolutely adored this book. I was a little hesitant to read it, because it’s YA and I am a full-grown adult, but I had heard so many rave reviews, loved the concept, and love holiday reads! I am so glad I did!! It may be my favorite holiday romance???? I can find no faults with this book, which is hardly something I ever say, even for my favorite of favorite books. The story was sweet, the characters fun, and the premise truly creative and original. It has humor and heart, and doesn’t feel like something is missing, even though it’s YA. It was perfect.
5 stars – 10/10
Sweet!
After overhearing that her boyfriend Griffin is thinking of breaking up with her, Sophie heads out to her grandmother’s for Christmas break earlier than she planned. Wanting only to see her granddaughter happy, Nonna devises a plan: 10 blind dates to see Sophie smile. The family divides up the choices and gives Sophie one free pass if she doesn’t like the guy or the date. We follow Sophie not only on these dates but as she reconnects with her cousins whom she’s pulled away from since dating Griffin. Also important to the storyline is that Sophie’s sister Margot is on bed rest while she waits for her newborn to arrive. As things start to get tense with her sister, Sophie finds that even though she’s enjoying some of the dates, her sister might need her more.
I borrowed this one from the library on a recommendation and I’m so glad I did because this was such a fun read. Sophie’s family is super funny and I found myself laughing out loud a lot. She was such a good sport through all of this and the multiple branches of the storyline between the dates, rekindling the friendship with her cousins and old friend, and then her sister just added to how great a storyline this is. It’s heartwarming and hilarious, the added romance was a fun bonus. I’m definitely going to check out some of Elston’s other works. Very well done!
I adored this cute YA contemporary love story “10 Blind dates” by Ashley Elston for a story about self-discovery, family and most of all love. This is a great holiday read about Sophie and her over-protective parents. Spending Christmas in Louisiana may have Sophie dreaming of something else with long-term boyfriend Griffin, except he has other plans. Her huge extended family tries to help her out – consoling her broken heart where each of the family members set up Sophie with a blind date. Each of the dates are as hilarious as the next. Just as we would expect it, Griffin has a change of heart, but will Sophie fall for it this time?
I absolutely love this heartwarming story and a delightful holiday read. I cannot wait to watch the Netflix adaptation of this amazing book! All the thumbs and stars for this read for me.
