Working in Hollywood meant Jessica Dawson was used to lying. As an assistant to one of the biggest agents in town, biting her tongue and spewing out sugarcoated untruths were an almost daily occurrence. But fabricating alternate realities never spilled into her personal life, until three months ago when she told the biggest lie of all. While her dear gran lay on her deathbed, Jessica mentioned … mentioned she’d met her soul mate. It had been Gran’s last wish to see all her grandkids settled down before she went to see Jesus. And as the only one still single, Jessica didn’t have the heart to disappoint her.
No one expected Gran to make a miraculous recovery.
Now, Gran was expecting to meet Jessica’s perfect man at her cousin’s wedding, which meant she needed to find a perfect man fast. Hiring a professional was the only solution.
Enter Dave Larsson, younger brother to one of Hollywood’s elite.
Sexy, funny and just as smoldering hot as his super-famous sibling—he had talent and charm to spare. But most importantly, he was affordable and available.
All she needed to do was haul Dave home, have him meet Gran and the family, then shortly after the wedding, “break up” with him.
It was either that, or admit to her #1 Lie.
Only thing she didn’t plan on was the bigger lie she would need to tell herself when it was time to let him go.

What do you do when you tell a Lie that you never thought would catch up to you? With the best of intentions; Jess told her dying grandmother a lie she had hoped would give her some sort of peace knowing she had found her soulmate. But when her grandmother has a miraculous recovery and there is a family wedding rapidly approaching; Jess needs to find a “soulmate” fast. Dave Larsson is an actor that Jess has known for years but whatever attraction she may have for him she never acted on because of their professional relationship. But when the starring role of “boyfriend/soulmate” comes available, Jess asks Dave for help.
What started out as a Lie; quickly turns into more…but can it last? The chemistry and connection between Jess and Dave is so amazing; top that with all the goodness that is T.Gephart RomCom humor and #1 Lie will get you in all the feels I loved this book so much and I hope that you enjoy it just as much as I did
Sometimes love finds you when it’s least expected and in the craziest of situations. Jessica Dawson and Dave Larsson need each other and agree to help the other out. Both characters are witty, sexy, sweet and love their families. Their conversations are flirty yet intelligent. Just because it’s a rom-com doesn’t mean the characters don’t have depth because Jessica and Dave certainly do. They were mature yet vulnerable. Dave is so smooth, charming and sure of himself. Jessica is sweet, smart and independent. I smiled the entire length of their story. The pace and plot were captivating. The story just flowed. I’d have to say the best in the series so far. Definitely a great read!
LOVE Dave and Jess
This was a great rom-com with enough laughs, swooning and heartfelt moments to keep you engaged through the entire story. Poor Jess, she feels pressure from her family to get married and uses some of her talented agent assistant skills to concoct a lie about her wonderful boyfriend. In steps Dave, sex on a stick up and coming actor who agrees to take the leading role acting as her soul mate. Easy peasy, right?!?!
The entire relationship between Dave and Jess started under the pretense of a lie, but the interactions between these two were honest, genuine and real. Underneath it all, they were both good people who simply hadn’t found “the one” to capture their hearts. Nothing was over the top and I couldn’t stop smiling and swooning the entire time I read this. Both Dave and Jess were witty, fun to be with and just all around great people.
I loved Dave and Jess together. They complimented each other so well and the feelings they developed for one another stemmed from true friendship. Let’s not overlook the sexy times between these two, WOW! They were downright hot together, their connection real on every level. There was heart and depth to this story, not just a superficial Hollywood type romance. Dave and Jess were family people, neither forgetting those most important to them. Engaging characters, fun story, laugh out loud banter and great writing make this a 5 star read! If you are looking for smiles, swooning and panty melting goodness, check into #1 Lie by T. Gephart.
This, #1 Lie, I absolutely loved it.
We meet Jessica Dawson.
Working as a personal assistant to one of the biggest agents in Hollywood, Jessica is no stranger to lying. You see in this business lying is what brings in the clients, brings in the dollars. But hey Jessica doesn’t mind as it’s her job and as much as her boss is a HUGE pain in the butt and hugely demanding, Jessica loves her job, and does it perfectly. Her boss seriously couldn’t do without her.
But the one thing that Jessica has never done is lie to her family. She loves them fiercely and they have always been loyal and honest with each other.
Until now.
You see Jessica’s Gran was on her deathbed, so to grant her Gran her one dying wish, Jessica fabricated a whole story about being in love and finding the one. A boyfriend who didn’t even exist but Jessica needed her Gran to know that she was happy and found the man of her dreams.
So you could only imagine Jessica’s nightmare when not only did Gran recover but a wedding invitation sits on her desk with her name on it, with a plus one added to her cousin’s wedding.
Jessica has to go home and face her family, her Gran……
But she needs a boyfriend like yesterday.
Panicked, stressed and at a loss what to do, Jessica has to decide.
Find a boyfriend, or go at it alone….
Yep it’s time to find a boyfriend!!
And he’s just walked through her door.
We meet Dave Larsson.
A client to Jessica’s boss he cannot believe what he is hearing.
Jessica wants him to be her boyfriend, so her Gran and the rest of her family won’t be disappointed in her.
But hey Dave can do it, after all he’s an actor with the hot looks, charm and panting melting smile.
He could charm his way around anything and anyone.
Easy…
Go to Jessica’s home town, meet her family, attend the wedding, go home.
Simple….
Well let me tell you guys there is nothing simple about Jessica and Dave’s story.
I absolutely loved this novel. It captured me from the very beginning. It’s witty, charismatic, crazy funny, sinfully delicious and classy in all the right places. It had all the feels.
Jessica….Omg I am in love with this woman. I want her as my best friend/soul sister. She is definitely my new girl crush.
And Dave….Ohhh man what a guy. Who wouldn’t want a Dave? Charming, gorgeous and full of heart.
Put these guys together…The combination is explosive.
A beautiful read that I can’t rate highly enough. A rom com with everything that you would expect and so much more.
A must read.
5 stars
Her heart was in the right place, but she must have lost her mind. #1 Lie is a #1 MUST HAVE! Gephart turns heartache into laughter and love, in an over the top, hard to resist sort of way. With what she believed to be a little white lie Jess sealed her fate. When the circumstances change Jess is in for a rude awakening and just maybe the love of a lifetime. Get ready to fall in love with a little white lie and an ENCHANTING romance.
I think so far this was my favorite of the series. There is something about Dave and his sweet nature that stole my heart.
Jessica got where she was from lying but when there is a lie, there is the snowball effect from it. I for one get uncomfortable when it comes to liars and stories when the characters lie but this was nothing like I thought it would be. It was fun and light.
The inner war that Jessica has was hilarious! The arguing she had in her head was completely amusing and fun to watch.
This gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings and fall in love head over heels for these two.
I just want to say that I wish I was part of their world, this series will definitely be in my books I would love to re-read to escape into again.
Read the book and listened to the audiobook together for added benefits and love both together and separate.
Another T Gephart book that I thoroughly enjoyed
The Lie is funny, has humor family moments, and is hot and sexy In all the right places.
Dave is such a hot laid back kind of guy you can’t help but love him as he helps Jessica out of a pickle with her family, by using his acting skills when he becomes her boyfriend for the weekend.
It’s not original but it is a fun read that leads to a heartwarming hea.
I listened to this in audio and found the narrating fabulous, the narration really bringing the characters to life and represents them well.
Looking forward to more from the Larsson brothers.
What I like about this series is that each book is a definite standalone novel. I have read all of them now, and even though this is book four, I read it last and never felt I missed a thing. Being a series based on brothers and a bestie, they all make cameos throughout the series and I loved getting to see them again and again.
This book is Dave and Jessica’s tale. He is one of Eric’s younger brothers and she works for his agent. What starts out as a great idea to support Jessica’s story to her gran, ends up with a lot of lies. As much as they try to pull it off, someone is going to look bad and hearts will be broken.
Dave was a sweetheart. He was funny, talented and devoted to not only his craft but Jess herself. She had a great sense of family commitment that resonates well with Dave, and he adored her for it. She only wanted the best for them both but the lies were making it all too difficult. Their story isn’t overly angsty but more sensible working through their issues and comprising.
I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters as each book was fun to read and I recommend all of them. And if you can, add the audio. It’s only one narrator, not my favorite way to listen to a book but audios give you the exact feelings and expressions the author is trying to depict. This author is fast becoming a favorite of mine and I’ll be working through more of her books.
I liked this book. I will read more by this author
Sweet, swoony, steamy, and oh, so fun . . . #1 Lie by T Gephart is a must-read!
This is my first book by T Gephart, and I’m kicking myself for not reading a Gephart book sooner. Thank goodness I took a chance on this book! I flippin’ LOVED IT.
-low angst
-low drama
-sweet / steamy
-fake relationship turned real
This was just what I needed!

Review:
I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to review this book. While I did like reading this book, it didn’t blow my mind. I found it a sweet, short fun story to read but it was a bit predictable.
What is this book about:
This book is about Jessica, or Jess. She came from a small town and after collage she moved to California. She started working for an agent and she’s good at her job.
There she meets Dave. Dave is an actor, not as famous as his older brother, but he has the skill non the less. Dave has yet to be cast for a leading role. So when Jess tells him she got a leading role for him.
It’s not the role he was expecting. He is offered to play the role of Jess her boyfriend and accompany her to her cousins wedding so her family doesn’t find out she lied.
What did I like about this book:
I liked the banter between Jess and Dave. They are good together, they have chemistry.
I liked the concept of the story and I liked how it turned out in the end.
Rating:
3 I enjoyed it Stars
Have to say I love me some Dave Larsson and boy Jessica has no chance in this romantic comedy of hers. It started innocent at first but come on T. Gephart does not disappoint her readers and adds in some hot, passionate sex readers will go crazy. Their attraction is instant and the parts of him shirtless it is no wonder Jessica fell for him yet still afraid of going all in. My one thing about the book is that it was more about Jessica would have loved more of Dave. All in all #1 Lie is hilarious, sexy and just an awesome book readers will want the whole series. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
This is the first time I have ever read a book written by T. Gephart and I enjoyed this title a lot. I am really looking forward to reading Nick’s story that is coming towards the end of the year. I found #1 Lie to be a really sweet and heartfelt story. I had a little tear in a couple of spots and I laughed a few times, especially at some of Jess’ antics.
Jess lied to her grandmother. Her reasons behind why she did is fair enough, but what ensued after the lie will make her realize it is NOT ok to lie to someone and expect to get away with it. Whoops! I felt Jess was a little bit uptight in some spots, while in others she was a funny, fun loving women. I liked her when she was with Dave. Relaxed and happy.
Dave is trying to move up in the acting world. Two of his brother’s are already famous and can land roles that do not involve Dog Food and being a shirtless delivery driver.. But hey we can all wish our delivery drivers looked like him! I really liked Dave. He seemed to genuinely like Jess and I really felt for him when things went down the road they did. He is so incredibly sweet and attentive. Totally swoon worthy in my books
Jess and Dave together was pretty electric. I could feel their connection as feelings started developing and feelings got deeper. Their steamy scenes were pretty hot, I must say. I would have really loved if this book had both POV instead of just Jess’. I really wanted to get inside Dave’s head and work out what he was thinking, how he felt, why he said that. I felt a little frustrated with the fact that I had to guess but that is the only thing I would change about this story. This book is a beautiful heartwarming story and definitely worth the read. I look forward to reading #1 Muse!
Such a funny read!
T. Gephart is a new author to me but I’m so happy to have another author on my TBR list! The crazy antics in this story had me smiling, giggling, and even laughing out loud.
One small lie meant to appease her dying grandma, leads to a paid boyfriend who happens to be an aspiring Hollywood star to save face at a family wedding. Jess is smart, headstrong, and knows exactly what she wants. Dave was sweet, kind, hot, and everything you want in a great book boyfriend. Their slow burn romance was just right. It wasn’t too slow that I was bored or waiting for something else to happen.
The pace of this story, told in 1st person, was great. Dual POVs have become my preference but I really enjoyed this one because of the descriptions. The dialogue and actions described were enough to connect well with both characters.
Don’t look further for a fun, hilarious, beach read with enough fire and emotion to connect to and keep your attention.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
I had a smile on my face the entire time reading. The plot line is silly and borderline ridiculous, but it’s fun and sweet. Dave is a great, fun character and he and Jessica make a good couple. He’s striving to make it as an actor and Jessica needs a fiancé for a family event. Voila, hilarity and romance ensue. Jessica has a few too many stupid to live moments for me that had me rolling my eyes, but it’s still a cute read, if pretty predictable. Low on the angst, high on humor.
#1 Lie is another great book in the #1 series by T. Gephart. Jessica and Dave’s banter and chemistry had me hooked from page one. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fun rom-com. #1 Lie can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read the other books in this fun and hot series!
Such a fun loving story by Author T. Gephart. This is my first book I have read from her and I loved it.
I was laughing and totally swooning over Dave Larsson. He just had me at Hello.
Loved how the author set up this story. It felt so real.
Dave and Jess are one hot couple together & one that everyone needs to read.
3.5 stars
“…sex appeal was so deeply ingrained in his double helix, it was as much a part of him as those gorgeous chocolate-colored eyes.”
Well, well, well … wasn’t it nice to meet another Larsson brother? Thank you Tina, for giving us Dave and Jessica. Their story really had to be told. It’s full of fun and wit and I really enjoyed reading it!
“It was a rare man who could be just as sexy on paper as he was in person, but Dave Larsson was a freaking unicorn.”
Dave, as one of four Larsson brothers, coming form a gene pool the woman’s world thanks god for. He’s one of those guys a girl dreams about meeting. Kind, funny, caring, gorgeous, HOT. A guy you can steal horses with. It was easy to all for him, and I don’t blame Jessica for doing so.
“I wasn’t sure what had been the bigger lie. That I’d convinced myself we were pretending. Or that I was capable of letting him go.”
Jessica was also a fun character. The love for her family, specially her granny, is just so lovely. Sometimes it’s easier to tell the truth than keeping up a lie. That’s what got her in trouble in the first place. But this was just the right amount of trouble to see what was right in front of her nose over the last years. She’s also an easy to love heroine and it was fun reading her story.
“I wanted you by my side because that’s the way it’s meant to be. It was always supposed to be us.”
#1 Lie is a nice lovestory full of wit and heartwarming fun. It will make you smile a lot and it’s totally worth the read.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Nothing to lie about here. Another great read from T. Gephart. It was fun, sweet and sexy.
Dave is the perfect blend of sassy and romantic. He can dish out a one-liner that can make you giggle one minute and make you swoon the next, making him jump to the front of the Larsson brothers line.
Jessica is the girl you want to kick in the fanny for not being able to pick up what Dave was putting down, but when everyone gets on the same page it is pure bliss!
The story reminded me of one of my favorite movies, ‘The Wedding Date’ which was fantastic because I adore that movie. There is something about reading though that really takes me away into the story and gave me a new appreciation of “hired” help.
Another great addition to this series! It’s funny, sexy and Dave is definitely swoon worthy. When a lie spirals out of control and the need for a fake boyfriend is needed…. what could possibly go wrong. I definitely recommend this light, funny with low angst read.
