Alyssa Day is a new-to-me author, but she came highly recommended, so I thought I’d give this series a try. I like vampire romances, but I’m always iffy on MC romance. Again, this book was recommended to me by a trusted friend as one I should try. It’s heavy on the vampire element and very light on the MC element, which was perfect for me. But honestly, I was a bit conflicted with the plot and the main character, Bane. The book starts right in the middle of the action, and I kept waiting for a good explanation of the conflict. However, I continually felt like I was missing huge chunks of the backstory. Neither did I connect with the main characters much. For most of the story, I didn’t really care for Bane. He redeemed himself in the end, but he annoyed me for most of the book, as did Ryan. I will say, though, that the author did a superb job introducing the secondary characters. Well enough that I will continue the series for their stories. There’s a lot of potential going forward with this series, so I will give it a shot.
I really enjoy this story, it was a laugh out loud paranormal romance read, and we laughed non-stop the entire story. This was a fun read completely different from anything we have read before, and I think that is why we really loved it so much. We thought the characters were awesome, both human and the paranormal ones. We loved seeing Bane being off kilter any time he was around the Doc. Not only that, but we thought they made a cute couple and the chemistry was there in spades. Bane met is match in the Doc that is for sure. Bane sister, a bada**. We see there are a lot of mixed reviews with this one but, for us, the story had us grinning and laugh, and It’s been awhile since I read a paranormal novel and this story was the perfect one to get us back into the swing of things reading books in this genre once again. Loved this author’s sense of humor.
Fun, spunky dialogue, with exiting, larger than life twists and turns, and the joy of following a solid love story develop beautifully. A great, silly book that leaves a smile on your face.
Bane is a very powerful vampire and leader of the Vampire MC. There are terrible necromancers invading his territory and threatening all those he protects.
Dr Ryan St. Cloud is a dedicated surgeon who will do anything to help her patients. When one is kidnapped right in front of her, it will change her whole outlook on the world.
This is an action packed paranormal romance filled with smoking hot characters and some very sexy scenes. Creepy and vicious fight scenes that make you want to hide behind the sofa give us lots of excitement. This author definitely has the knack of drawing us into the story on the first page and keeping us there until the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I loved it.
This is my first book from this author but it won’t be my last! The blurb really appealed to me and I enjoy paranormal and MC romances, so it seemed like a sure thing. Now I’m going to be very candid here and tell you that the first chapter of this book made me doubt my decision. It felt “heavy” to me and it read kind of hard…but I persevered and I am so glad that I did, because in the end I thought that this book was really awesome! Different than I expected, but awesome. Romance, sweetness, heat, humor and quirkiness is combined with drama, action, suspense, danger and twists to create a very fun and exciting read that held my attention well, gave me some delightful feels. I will say that if you don’t like a bit of cuteness to your reads or if you are not a fan of a bit of over-the-top, this book might not be for you. I myself, thought that Bane and Ryan made an adorable couple. There was a raw vulnerability to each of these characters that really drew me to them. I just loved them like crazy!! An intriguing cast of secondary characters creates a lot of options for future entries in the series and it also looks like there will be a bit of an overarching story that continues throughout. I can’t wait to dive into book two just as soon as I can. This is my unbiased, unsolicited review.
I have read Ms. Day’s previous series, Warrior’s of Poseidon, and loved it very much and thought that I would give this series, Vampire’s MC Club a try. Bane and Ryan’s story. Ryan is a doctor who is introduced into the paranormal world when a friend of Bane’s is hurt. Needless to say, there is quite a bit going on and it does take a minute for Ryan to sort of catch on. Eventually filled with some action, suspense and a bit of mystery make for a great story. I am looking forward to more books in this series. 4 stars

Emotional and action packed danger filled journey. The beginning was a little slow but overall was a entertaining and engaging adventure filled with witty and exciting charters, dangerous twists and intriguing turns.
For a first time read by Alyssa Day, I enjoyed this one. There were a few things here and there that kept me from loving it but found it to be a rather fun read. The synopsis pulled me instantly and I was rather interested when it came down to the vampire mc romance aspect.
I’ve read a handful of MC romances and the scale of what happens in each has been all over the place. And I’d say that Bane’s Choice falls on the tamer side of MC, which I don’t really have a problem with at all.
I really liked both characters, they’re definitely opposites and Ryan sure does go through life to the beat of her own drum. And that added a rather entertaining layer to their banter.
As much as Bane fights the connection that they have, it was really a matter of time before they both gave in. I really liked all their moments together and I actually found Bane to be rather endearing.
One thing that I struggled with was the POVs that weren’t Bane and Ryan. I’m not really a huge fan of hearing the POV from the villain. I didn’t mind hearing Edge, but I think I would have been ok without with especially if there’s a possibility of getting his story in this series.
Overall, still enjoyed this, not quite what I expected. I hope we get more from this world because I’m definitely invested. And you can bet that I’ll be diving into the backlist of Alyssa’s paranormal books.
Smoking hot vampires with lots of paranormal action. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Dr. Ryan St. Cloud is shocked when a man comes in and steals her patient and disappears. She tries to tell everyone about and they think that she is overworked and seeing things. After Bane shows up in her apartment she thinks he is a delusion. Little does Ryan know she is stepping into a world of vampires, werewolves and all other things she only heard about in stories. This story was very enthralling. I really enjoyed Mira and Ryan so much, they are amazingly strong women. I didn’t really connect with Bane but I felt that there is more to him then what I was shown. I do hope there is more to this series because I would like to read more.
Thank you, Alyssa Day! This is the sexy vampire fantasy novel I’ve been missing. I have stopped reading some well known vampire series because I just couldn’t take the alpha never learning to give a little with his true love or there being so much sex and barely any story. Day has found the perfect balance of an alpha not locking his love up so no one hurts them (although he wants to) and lots of great storylines to go with the steamy scenes.
And to go along with the great character development, Day actually incorporates a fantasy world that incorporates more than just vampires and/or werewolves. This opens up so many potential storylines and love matches that I am excited to see what Day has in store for us. The action scenes were excellent and I love that Day included two human caretakers who may be younger than the vampires, but help to keep them stable, and are still wonderfully racy for an older couple.
The reader may be dropped into the middle of the action without one hundred pages of back story before, but I think Day is able to pull it off. She works the back story in as the book progresses, and leaves some of the characters with a bit of mystery about them at the end. But if you’ve read any romance you should be able to see the pairings that will be coming and have an inkling of their dramatic/tragic backstory.
I’m going to start online stalking (but in a nice way) Day so I can find out when the next VMC book is coming. And since this is the first book I’ve read by her, I’m intrigued to read some more of her stories.
The first in the Vampire Motorcycle Club, Bane’s Choice, was a promising read. I liked the premise of this story however the MC aspect is minimal. Secrets, intrigue, magic and control, Bane’s Choice has complex, engaging characters and an array of dynamic support characters. I like this story and will look to read more of this series.
3.5
I love biker and vampire books, so the thought of having both in the same story sounded like a spectacular read for me. I didn’t get the gritty Sons of Anarchy vibe I had hoped for. Rather, it leaned more toward the True Blood campy style. I did like the story, but it wasn’t exactly what I had expected.
There are tons of characters aside from humans and vampires. You have warlocks, necromancers, werewolves, zombies, and more. I absolutely, totally loved Meara and the sizzling chemistry between her and Edge. Luke and Carter were strong characters as were Constantine and Sylvie. There’s a lot of world building and series set up. Relevant information was strategically fluid in how it was presented where I never felt overwhelmed or info dumped—which is a testament to this author’s skill. There’s a story arc that will obviously carry over into the other books in the series. So while the book does end at a natural point, the ongoing nature of the story arc leaves a few unanswered questions.
For the most part, I generally liked both main characters but Ryan was so over-the-top that she just outright annoyed and frustrated me. She was so set on commanding independence and felt the need to buck everything and everyone. I think it was meant to show her strength, but it came across as bratty. Bane…I loved his devotion to Ryan and how he tried to change in hopes of falling into her good graces. And while his power was evident at the start and near-end of the book, that grit and strength from those parts didn’t appear in the middle of the story when those around him ribbed him for his distraction toward Ryan.
In the end, I was hoping for a grittier story and I was left with far too many unanswered questions to truly love the book. While this story might not have hit the mark with me, I’m sure it will appeal to others and grow into a great series.
/I received an advanced edition of this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my opinion of the book or content of my review./
Bane is the leader of the Vampire Motorcycle Club. He’s tough, unfeeling, and brutal – he’s also a vampire. His club is a mix of those most loyal, human and vampire. When nasty and dangerous death magic infiltrates his territory in South Caroline, Bane and his crew bring forces together to combat the enemy. He wasn’t counting on a mouthy doctor who is immune to the thralls he and his vamps toss her way.
Dr. Ryan St. Cloud refuses to believe in the odd occurrences one evening in the hospital where she works. Disappearing patients, beautiful men, and weird interactions are not all in a night’s work and Ryan can’t let the events go. Ryan suddenly finds herself immersed in a motorcycle club and surrounded by vampires. One of the many questions she has is whether or not she’s going to get to leave, or, after falling for Bane, she’s going to want to leave.
Bane’s Choice is a dark and broody book. Bane and his vampire crew are lowkey, dangerous, and deadly. Ryan brings light, strength, and a bit of stubbornness to the vampires. Sparks fly between Ryan and Bane. Their chemistry jumps off the page even when both are trying to deny the attraction. When Ryan becomes a target, Bane becomes overprotective. Ryan isn’t exactly helpless, however, but her revelations shock everyone.
The several side characters really strengthen the dynamics of the book. All of the characters are likable and I enjoyed their companionship. The story is long but paced well. I was hooked from the very beginning and the author wrote wonderful characters that kept me engaged. This is the first book I’ve had the chance to read by Alyssa Day and it won’t be my last. She has mad writing skills and wrote a book I could sink my teeth into. Lovers of paranormal romance stories will become absorbed in this book.
I was provided a copy of this book.
This was such a great book! It was well-written, entertaining, sexy, fun and action-packed. I didn’t want to put it down and I hope there are more books to come featuring some of the secondary characters. Ryan is a doctor who leads a perfectly ordinary life. Bane is an ancient vampire who runs the Vampire Motorcycle Club. When these two meet everything changes for both of them. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
“He kissed her, because she’d brought life, and love, and hope into his heart.”
“He kissed her, because he intended to spend eternity kissing her.” Now that ladies (and maybe gentlemen) is a love story! Fine looking Bane on its cover too. This was such a well-written paranormal romance that I had a hard time putting the book down. It is a must-read for lovers of PNR, steamy romance with demons, angels, warlocks, shifters and of course vampires. What choice will Bane need to make? Oh, there is humor too…like, ‘effing Brexit’ at the most illogical moment.
Vampire Bane is the leader of the Vampire Motorcycle Club, VMC, and as such is hiding in plain sight. He gives his human crew excuses why he can’t ride with them during the day which they accept. He’s not especially happy and hasn’t been for centuries until Dr. Ryan St. Cloud “glows” at him. Their first “meeting” is quite something. The story would be great if there wasn’t any more but there is another plot entwined within this romance, one that will carry over to the next book if the epilogue is to be believed. There will be a twist in the story that I didn’t see coming although I knew some explanation would surface. There is a stupendous cast of characters about whom I hope we get future stories as well as the secondary characters such as Mr. and Mrs. C.
I volunteered to review this book through Entangled/NetGalley and would give it more than 5 Stars if I could. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one, hopefully Meara and Edge’s story.
Alyssa Day has created an intriguing new world, blending vampires (and werewolves) and motorcycle clubs, putting new twists on paranormal lore, and creating a cast of characters that are colorful and funny and are so much more than they seem on the surface.
Bane is your typical alpha dominant vampire. He’s also old and a bit broody. He hasn’t had fun in centuries, but when he runs into Dr. Ryan St. Cloud, someone he can’t compel, she does the one thing he never thought could happen – she gives him back hope. These two were a lot of fun, Ryan had some very funny lines that had me laughing out loud and it was great watching her stand up to Bane and demand more from him. Bane was so out of his element with Ryan, she was not your typical heroine, and he had such a hard time understanding little things – like why locking her in a room for her own protection might get her just a little bit angry!
There was a lot going on in this book. As the first book in a new series there were a lot of characters and world-building that needed to happen which caused this to be a bit of a slower read since I needed to keep track of the characters and backstory. There were some good action scenes that helped move things along and the groundwork was laid for many other story lines in this series.
Overall, this was a dark paranormal story that had some real laugh out loud moments with action and a bit of mystery that kept me engaged throughout. There wasn’t much of a focus on the MC aspect of the book, but I really enjoyed the different types of characters and the lore around vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. that Alyssa Day has included as part of her world.

3.75 stars–BANE’S CHOICE is the first instalment in Alyssa Day’s contemporary, adult VAMPIRE MOTORCYCLE CLUB paranormal, romance series. This is three hundred year old vampire, and VMC president Bane, and physician Dr. Ryan St. Cloud’s story line.
Told from several third person perspectives including Bane and Ryan BANE’S CHOICE follows the building romance between three hundred year old vampire, and VMC president Bane, and physician Dr. Ryan St. Cloud. Bane’s friend Hunter Evans was burned so badly he would never survive but a quick trip to the hospital to bring home his friend, is anything but when Bane comes face to face with Dr. Ryan St. Cloud, and finds himself in a stand off with a feisty woman who may or may not be completely human. Unable to control her mind, Bane quickly realizes that there is much more to Ryan than he could have imagined. Hoping to see Dr. St. Cloud again, Bane sets out to locate the woman that stirs something deep within our story line hero but all is not well in Bane’s territory when warlocks, necromancers, and a group that call themselves the Chamber enter into a battle to take over Bane’s territory. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Bane and Ryan, and the potential fall-out as the fight for Bane’s territory pulls Ryan in as collateral damage.
Ryan St. Cloud is a physician but has no idea that she is something more. Quickly accepting the existence of vampires and werewolves, Ryan’s jump into the supernatural quickly turns onto herself when she defends the man and the family with whom she is falling in love. Bane is the President of the Vampire Motorcycle Club, a biker club hiding in plain sight although a number of their members are only human. Never having fallen in love, Bane is caught off-guard when he meets Dr. Ryan St. Cloud, a man who is more than she appears to be. Believing Ryan is his fated mate, Bane goes all alpha and over protective but it is Ryan’s power that will that will draw trouble to their front door.
The relationship between Ryan and Bane is one of immediate attraction but Ryan struggled with Bane’s ‘kidnapping’ of her severely injured patient. Unable to explain their palpable sexual attraction, Ryan moves into Bane’s mansion in an effort to stay close to the injured man. As Ryan and Bane’s attraction builds, threats from an outside source release Ryan’s power, and with it the realization about who and what our heroine might be. The Sex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Bane’s family: vampires Meara, Edge and Luke as well as their human housekeepers Mr. and Mrs. C. There is a large assortment of werewolves including alpha Carter Reynolds of the Wolf Pack MC. The requisite evil has many faces including warlocks, necromancer and members of the group known as The Chamber.
BANE’S CHOICE is a story of betrayal and revenge; secrets, magic, power and control. The premise is engaging but struggles between sluggish and energetic; the romance is intimate; the characters are energetic and dynamic-Ryan’s need to call it she sees is often fun and snarky.
I would like to add that the ‘motorcycle club’ aspect of the story line is limited, and definitely not akin to the usual MC story lines. The motorcycle club plot point is negligible, and more of a background element than anything else.
wo
I have to admit that in the last few years I haven’t been into vampire romances as much as I was before. Not sure why they just don’t call me like they used to. I’m sure that I’ll get back to them big again. You know the saying ‘what goes around, comes around’ and that’s so true.
But since it was Alyssa Day who wrote it and I’ve loved her other stuff I knew I had to try it and I’m glad I did. It was written with Day’s fair for putting together a well-written story that you find yourself enjoying.
I really liked the idea of the storyline but at times I felt the author had so much story in her mind that she rushed to get it all on the pages. I felt at times dropped in and like I was supposed to know who was who and why. It wasn’t even like the author was putting a ton in because its the first book in the series, it was almost like I missed a book or two
I really liked Bane and at times Ryan too. Sometimes she got on my last nerve but I enjoyed how they are together so I forgave that. I wasn’t sure in the beginning they’d work but soon found that they did. There are characters you meet in the book that you want to know about so they help you enjoy the story.
For me, Bane’s Choice was like a motorcycle ride. It started off slightly slow, it finally picked up but might have moved a little too fast. I was hoping for a little more information about everything and then finally rushed to the end and stopped. Maybe a little too quickly. I felt it was missing more.
This isn’t a bad start to a new series and I hope that the next book is a little better now that the author has figured out some of her world. I guess we’ll see with the next book. I enjoyed it but wished for a little more.
A fight between good and evil
This was my first experience with this author and I enjoyed every minute of it. With no hesitation the author thrust us right into the thick of things and then filled in from there. The characters are well developed, and I enjoyed the way they thought and the way the interacted throughout the book. I love how there are moments of humor to even out the drama and the action and danger are at an all time high. The author kept me glued to my ebook from the first page to the last and I can’t wait to see what she does with all the possible stories in her next book.
