Different sitting & characters.
I’ve read all of Anne’s father’s books, and she has the same reverence for the Navajo traditions as he had. I always appreciate learning more about their culture while reading interesting books.
Anne Hillman does a fine job of continuing the series originated by her father, Tony Hillerman.
I am a great fan of her late father but her novels are disappointing. I listened to the audio version. The Indian characters were an insult to Native Americans.
I like Tony and Anne Hillerman books and Anne Hillerman didn’t disappoint with this book. It kept you turning the pages and I loved the Native American history she puts in her books. I always hope she will continue writing.
As with all Hillerman books I could not stop reading.
Very evocative, beautifully written and in the footsteps of her father.
I am a great fan of the Chee, Manulito, Leaphorn stories. I am very happy that Tony Hillermans daughter Anne is continuing the series. Nothing is nicer than a weekend of peaceful reading with this author.
So glad to have the Hillermann work continue in such capable hands.
I liked her father’s books and this book borrows some of the same characters. Set in the southwest , it gives insight into Navaho culture very entertaining and readable.
The writing is a bit simplistic and slow. However, it’s nice to read stories about the original characters.
good story line.
I love these books about these two main characters!!!
I loved Tony Hillermaans books. Ann is continuing in her fathers footsteps, with his characters that we all loved.
Great book for Tony Hillerman fans.
The story was a bit slow for me. I have lived in New Mexico and the characters in the book made me miss the beauty of the southwest.
Very interesting and intriguing read
Good continuation of Tony Hillermans iconic characters
It is a good way to get a picture of that part of our country. The story she unfolds is very believable, much like her dad. Loved the stories he told and the characters he developed.
Following in the footsteps of the great mystery writer, Tony Hillerman, would be difficult. This book kind of rambles along – needs more chapter or paragraph breaks as it jumps from thing to thing. The ending, though, was rewarding. Glad I stuck with it to the end. I have read all of Tony Hillerman’s books so it’s a tough act to follow.
I truly enjoyed this story as I do most of the Hillermans’ offerings. This was a little different as it incorporated Chee”s and Bernie’s separate investigations into one book. Both story lines were new and devious and included the wonderful influence of life, lore, and law of the Navajo Nation. And descriptive writing about the beautiful area …
