MYRTLEI’m a just an erotic woman who likes control. And edgy sex. And hard men. At the same time.So starting an outreach class at the TDH community center to teach other women how to put the dom in dominatrix was inevitable. Even if I was only doing it to use my boss, Pierce, as my submissive example and pay him back for humiliating me in front of the whole world last summer.PIERCEI regret what I … front of the whole world last summer.
PIERCE
I regret what I did to Myrtle. She’s the best assistant I’ve ever had and I’ll play along—for now—because I want to make things right. But… come on. Me? A submissive? Ha. Myrtle Rothschild might have the upper hand at the moment… but I’m bringing my A-game. I’m gonna take back control.
She can wear her hot, thigh-high latex boots. She can crack that whip all she wants. Hell, I’ll even let her leave marks.
But I’m about to school Ms. Rothschild in the art of who’s the boss.
And she’s about to get Pierce-d.

So, if you read The Sexpert (and you really should), you will know Pierce messed up in a big way and very publicly humiliated his assistant Myrtle. And he’s tried apologising. Repeatedly. Now she has a swanky office, big pay rise, and new job. But Myrtle wants to get her own revenge. And that revenge comes in a very unusual way.
Oh my this book was entertaining! Great banter, some very funny scenes that had me laughing out loud and a few unexpected things. You can’t help but love Pierce and his arrogant charm. And Myrtle is actually more vulnerable than first impressions suggest with her confident sexy librarian persona. I couldn’t put this down! Another great book from the Huss/McClain duo – I look forward to seeing what they come out with next.
The story is beautifully well written; intense, captivating, entertaining and intriguing. Well-built plot lines, and great character development. Myrtle and Pierce’s chemistry is powerful, intense, and very dynamic!
Pierced is an excellent rom-com that will make you laugh out loud. The balance of sexiness, hilarity + some truly batshit hilarious scenes (lol), seriousness, and upsetting circumstances is just brilliant.
Believe Me, You Need This Book In Your Life, you’ll love every moment of it. This was such a fun read, a real page turner at its best! Sexy and naughty!!
Well that was an interesting and fun twist on an office romcom. There were layers to these characters I wasn’t expecting. And some self discovery too. Sometimes Pierce was a bit over the top but it was so funny! I really enjoyed escaping to the TDH again and can’t wait to go back.
Pierce absolutely stole my heart! He was so cute and funny in a fumbling, arrogant sort of way that just endeared him to me. He’s all kinds of kingly and self-absorbed while he’s constantly forgetting people’s names. But deep down inside, he’s a bit insecure, a lot loyal, and currently lost without the groove that Myrtle and he had once experienced. But that relationship is damaged now due to his own fault and he can’t apologize enough. Except it’s not an apology that Myrtle wants.
Myrtle was fierce and independent. On the outside she’s a warrior and a force to be reckoned with. Those around her pretty much quake in their shoes when she stares them down. However, Myrtle has lost her direction since Pierce made his awful accusation against her months ago. Now she’s ready to dole out her own brand of justice to him but will he realize that’s it not an apology and it’s not submission that she’s really looking for…it’s something much deeper.
I loved the dynamic between these two in the Sexpert and this time around their relationship is seriously all twisty goodness and craziness even in the midst of their dysfunction. Watching them fumble back and forth as they try to find equal footing was both humorous and heart aching. This felt very much like a case of one step forward, two steps back. Except with each step forward they were truly seeing each other for who they were while opening themselves to the potential to trust and love.
This is a steady read with a nice pace to it and holy heck, the steam is intense. It’s dealing with a common enough topic in today’s erotic romance and yet from a different angle which was a first for me. The secondary characters are amazing and help to set up some of the most hilarious lines I’ve ever read. I’ve enjoyed each of the books these authors have co-written and have to admit I believe this one to be my favorite.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Huss and McClain are a great team This 2nd book in the series was really well writen with a great storyline. Pierce and Myrtle were great together. I must admit that they were not my favorite characters, but reading their story opened my heart to them. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next! I look forward to the next book. I am totally not sure what to expect out of these two authors.
*l recieved an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary review.
They nailed it again!!!
This book had me laughing out loud and tearing up a couple of times. Definitely had my attention from beginning to the very end.
Pierce was a jerk is the first book Sexpert. He was self-centered, arrogant, clueless and very high strung. Myrtle was strong, confidant and knew how to handle Pierce. That is until he ruined everything.
I didn’t know if Huss and McClain could change the way I felt about Pierce. But he grew on me. I even grew to like the guy. LOL!! My heart broke a little for Myrtle. It just proves that no matter how strong someone comes across or how much someone puts a smile on their face. We all have inner demons. Things we struggle with. Some of us have pasts that aren’t pleasant.
This was a great read!!!!
I thought I loved the Sexpert. That was until I read Pierce’d. It is amazing!! Andrew and Eden make appearances in Pierce‘d!!
Pierce is a rich boy. His Father has him running Le Man magazine and he really is trying to prove himself to his Father. Pierce is his own kind of guy. I honestly don’t think there is a man even similar to Pierce. Which is awesome, because Pierce is awesome.
Then we have Myrtle. She is kind of an enigma. She shows up a lot in Sexpert and her story continues into Pierce’d. She becomes much less of an enigma as the story progresses.
So, read the blurb and just take my word for it. You will LOVE this book and you will fall in LOVE with the characters.
Huss and McClain have definitely hit their comedic stride.
Pierce is typically male, and clueless when it comes to his relationship with Myrtle and Myrtle, well she has a plan to knock him down a peg or two, or three…HA!
This will make you laugh out loud and feel good…it’s perfect.
4.5 stars! The writing duo that is JA Huss and Johnathan McClain have once again written a supremely funny story in the Tall, Dark and Handsome universe! I first met Myrtle and Pierce in The Sexpert, book 1 in the TDH world. Both characters were so intriguing in that book that I couldn’t wait to dive in and peel back their layers to get to their “real” selves.
Myrtle comes across as this librarian-slash-dominatrix persona who has everyone in the offices of Le Man magazine scared of her. She exudes sexuality and confidence but once you really get to see inside her layers, she is truly someone who has fears and doubts and when it comes to love, that “take no prisoners” attitude is nowhere to be found.
Pierce is the kind of guy you just can’t help but hate to love. He is arrogant and rude, but in reality he is just a clueless guy who doesn’t even realize that he’s doing or saying anything that would be offensive. And when it comes to Myrtle, all he knows is that he needs her in his life. She compliments him, she puts him in his place, she “completes him”. But he messed that dynamic up in the most spectacular fashion and now he will do just about anything to make it right again.
It was SO enjoyable watching these two feed off each other. Their banter is hilarious. The journey Myrtle and Pierce take to figure out what they really want was…something else. Yeah, I already know this is a book I will read over and over again.
I am really loving this Julie and Johnathan writing duo! Whether they are writing a dark romance or a funny one, the banter and dynamic between the main characters is always fascinating to read. I am excited to see what these come up with next!
Myrtle puts on a great game face, but deep down nothing feels right. Pierce is in love, he just doesn’t know it. These two have been pussyfooting around each other for years, it’s time they get down to business.
This is the second book in the series. This is about Myrtle and her boss Pierce. Myrtle wants to payback her boss of what he did to her last summer. She was humiliated in front of a lot of people when her boss thought she was the sexpert. She was so humiliated that she wanted to do the same thing to him. Myrtle got promoted to VP with nothing to do. When she really wanted was her old job back. I learned a lot of Myrtle in this book. The things you wouldn’t have guessed. The things you learn about her you can see why she is the way she is. She comes up with a contract that her boss can’t refuse.
Pierce is the owner of La Man magazines. He is selfish, has to be in control of everything. I learned a lot of him in this book. The things you learn about him you can see why he is the way he is. He only know things about the people that are important to him. Myrtle is one of them. He knows her but doesn’t know her. When he humiliated her they started to drift apart. Then she comes to him with the contract.
Pierce agrees with the contract because he knows it’s to humiliate him like he did her. She trusts him but she realizes he doesn’t trust her. This is wasn’t she wanted out of it, she thought she would feel better. They both realized something but it wasn’t until they both got hurt. They are good for one another. They deserve to be happy and be with one another.
Absolutely love this book. Highly recommend it.
Physical pain, mental pain, emotional pain…Myrtle and Pierce inflict all of these against each other and themselves. With characters that are so different yet alike, it’s amazing that these writers make this story so seamless. And Myrtle and Pierce are so complicated. I don’t think Myrtle is happy with the woman she has made herself, she wants more. Maybe with Pierce? But Pierce is so selfish and self absorbed, yet you can’t help but like him. With wry humor and constant intrigue this tale keeps you flipping the pages. And in the end you might just be Pierce-d. (And Myrtle-d)
Julie and Jonathan have done it again with Pierced, part of the TDH series.
What fun this book was!
Pierce and Myrtle are my new favorite book couple, because, why not? Together, they are smart and sexy and just plain old sassy! The banter between these two is sometimes serious, but mostly witty. They play off of each other perfectly.
Hmmm………kind of like Julie and Johnathan? These two have become the perfect writing team. They are just so entertaining. So refreshing. So classically funny! I have now read every word these two have written together and I have to say, I hope they have no plans to stop anytime soon.
Do yourself a favor…….read Pierced!
You won’t be sorry. You’ll laugh out loud. You can’t help but love Pierce and Myrtle. There’s so many unsuspecting surprises in this book, it will be hard to not finish it in one sitting.
Truly an amazing read!
Myrtles boss Pierce made a mistake. A really big, public one that has possibly cost him her friendship. Loyal, dedicated and a hard worker, Myrtle is finding it hard to forgive Pierce for not only humiliating her but also not trusting her after everything she’s done for him. Even though Pierce has tried to make amends, things are a lot different between them now and Myrtle is determined to have nothing to do with him….Until she’s approached and asked to teach a class of women how to be a dominatrix and suddenly a revenge plan starts forming. What better way to get payback than to humiliate Pierce by making him be her submissive? Thinking he won’t go for it Myrtle approaches Pierce with her offer but Pierce will do just about anything to earn her forgiveness and with a slight amendment agrees. Of course that doesn’t mean that their little sessions are going to go to plan or that Pierce is going to have a good time but Myrtle has her plan and she’s determined to stick to it.
I loved Pierce. This guy is just too much. Too funny, too stupid for someone so smart, too loveable. He’s a brilliant character and had me laughing out loud throughout this book. His forgetfulness, his quirky ramblings, his obliviousness all added to his charm. Myrtles character I struggled with at times. Which is nothing new for me and female leads but what was surprising to me was that I never actually disliked her. She ticked me off sometimes but the more I got to know the ‘real’ Myrtle the more I understood why she’s the way she is and by the end I was definitely rooting for her to get what she wanted.
I love this duo when the write together and this is definitely one of my favourite books by them. If you’re looking for a fun, quirky, funny rom com this is definitely one to try.
Pierce and Myrtle bring office romance to a whole new level!
Talk about a book that made me want to hug some fictional characters- at the very least give them a motherly pat on the head! Pierce needs guidance after publicly humiliating his feisty sexpot and now former administrative assistant Myrtle, he’s all out of his own ideas on how to make the situation right.
Nothing seems to put him back in her good graces, where he really wants to be.
Taking a play from his best friends book he lets Mistress Myrtle call the shots after another botched attempt at cutting the tension between them- when he finds himself giving his control over to her- he thinks the end result will be one thing- She a whole other game plan in mind.
Sit back relax and bask in the crazed lives of two control freaks!
Yep, that about does it for me today!
That was a helluva lot of fun, Pierce and Myrtle’s rollercoaster of crazy took me to a better place, had me smiling, shaking my head, picturing some slightly awkward scenarios – thoroughly entertained, the second book in The Tall, Dark, and Handsome series took me by surprise!
Pierced is the hilarious and adorable second book in J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain’s Tall, Dark & Handsome series of standalone novels. This office romance is fun and flirty. The banter and dynamics between the two main characters, Myrtle and Pierce, is fantastic; Myrtle goes out of her way to creatively include sexually-charged innuendo whenever possible. It frequently gives her the power position as her co-workers aren’t sure what to make of this beautiful and confident woman.
Myrtle’s backstory is crazy and absolutely unexpected! The scary tigress readers first meet in The Sexpert, has the same self questions and doubts as most women…she just hides it well under her chosen persona. When it comes to love though, she is not nearly as aggressive.
Pierce is a lot less crazy than portrayed in The Sexpert, however, his internal battle between winning Myrtle’s forgiveness and maintaining his personal power lends itself to existential life questions as well as an abundance of humorously far-fetched situations. I loved Pierce’s romantic bumbling in his attempt to appease Myrtle.
As the two trade-off power like kids on a teeter-totter, Pierce discovers he needs an equally strong partner both in love and in the office. Meanwhile, Myrtle’s dominate tendencies are at war with her vulnerable heart. I found myself frustrated and almost giving up on the characters, then wanting to shake some sense into both of them, and ultimately enjoying their convoluted journey to self-discovery, acceptance, and love. Pierced is full of tongue-in-cheek fun, and a highly enjoyable read.
Julie and Jonathon do not disappoint in this new book. If you read the Sexpert then you will remember sex kitten Myrtle and boss man Pierce.
Be prepared to laugh out loud and maybe snort alittle. The chemistry between Myrtle and Pierce is electric, sexy and HOT as hell. Their back and forth banter is hysterical.
This book is just enough sexy and funny. Perfect 5 read.
Myrtle is still pissed at her boss Pierce, the owner of LeMan Magazine, after he humiliated her in front of the whole office. She wants nothing to do with him. Sadly, Pierce is somewhat hardheaded and finally gets her to stay working at his company with a huge promotion. That isn’t enough for Myrtle to get over what he did. No, she has a devious plan that will have him begging….for forgiveness… amongst other things! However, Myrtle didn’t intend for her plan of domination to make her true feelings for Pierce to come out. These two are hot together and the back and forth banter is absolutely delicious! Such a great romantic comedy. Eden and Andrew from The Sexpert have cameos in this book as well. This is a stand-alone but it helps to read The Sexpert first to get the full picture. Told in dual POV
