Technology So Valuable It Could Change Your Life…Or End itWhen Cryptologist Alton Blackwell takes his girlfriend, FBI Agent Mallory Wilson, on a surprise trip to Italy, the couple expects the vacation of a lifetime, but their pleasure is short-lived. Intent on selling Vidulum Inc.’s proprietary technology to the highest bidder, a rogue employee of the high-tech company arranges a clandestine … clandestine meeting at one of Rome’s most famous tourist attractions. Rather than collecting a huge payday, however, the company turncoat encounters a lethal surprise. When Alton and Mallory rush to assist the dying scientist, they find themselves pulled into the subsequent murder investigation.
Foreign and domestic agents, corporate spies, intellectual-property thieves, and shadowy underworld figures race to acquire the technical files stored on the dead employee’s missing cellphone and reap the billions of dollars and technological superiority now at stake.
Despite their efforts to leave the tragedy behind and continue their vacation, Alton and Mallory soon learn their own lives are in danger. They are left with no choice but to join forces with the Roman police in an effort to crack the case. While diving into the investigation, the discovery of another man in Mallory’s past disrupts Alton’s plan to move his relationship with her to a new level.
As they encounter unexpected twists at a breakneck pace, Alton and Mallory must summon all their intellectual powers to reveal the truth behind the Vidulum employee’s death and track down the missing technological plans before a life-threatening end game can be set in motion.

Steven has created an excellent plot with …
You will love the main characters as they try to fit a bit of holiday into their trip to Italy. And will he ever get around to using that ring he brought along for that special moment between all the action?
The fundamental danger in this book is the potential sale of a new computer ionic storage capability to an enemy of the US. the recently completed program has been stolen, and the company Vidium is desperate to identify and stop the thief. Several things in the book were fantastically unbelievable: that Blackwell and Kate were on the same flight …
had some stereotypes and despite the female protagonist being an FBI agent the male protagonist was the gun toting primary crime solver
Would make a great movie. Dialogue seemed stilted.
Tried….not my genre
This was just OK….I simply did not care for Alton’s constant insecurity and self-doubt about Mallory’s feelings towards him and that made this story a drag to get through.
Awesome
This isn’t really my kind of book. Once I started to read it I just had to keep reading it until I finished it.
I have read several of the books in this series and have loved everyone.
I was really wanting to enjoy this book, but I am not into explicit scenes and there was an explicit scene in the early pages so I didn’t continue reading.

I love books that I can follow actions on a map. In this we traveled thru Italy from Rome to Pompei. I was able to see the same sights the book characters saw.
This book was entertaining with good characters and lots of action.
I thought it was outstanding. I read it in near record time for me. I can heartily recommend reading it.
I love the fact there is a hero who has a physical flaw. It shows a person can be smart, capable and romantic with physical limitations. We all have limitations in some form or another. Great intrigue and suspense. Interesting twists and turns.
not for me
Great follow up of existing characters, with little flashbacks. Enjoyable read.
Loved it
