When dark magic descends, and super technology fails, power rises from the heart. As the commander in charge of the Super Artificial Intelligence program in Eudaiz, a universe far from Earth, Lyla has it all. Beauty. Intelligence. Power. She has never failed a mission, until she detects a shadow in the main frame system. The shadow is built on elusive magical power and human emotions—neither of … human emotions—neither of which she has training for or first-hand experience with.
Combining with the force of dark energy, the shadow is on a mission to not only destroy the legacy her father has built but also kill millions of citizens across the multiverse. It will invade and enslave universes—Earth included.
Time is not on her side. But if she fights now, she will be on her own.
Fire at Crossroad is the prequel of Bones and Ashes Trilogy.

Action packed from page one! Another great addition to the series. Never ending action, mystery with some wicked twists, and a little romance thrown in! The book is hard to put down once you start. Fantastic world building and characters. Starting the next book in the series tomorrow!
This book is a great start to the Souls of Ashes series. It’s well written with great characters. It’s a great paranormal read with twists and turns. I recommend reading the series.

Fire at Crossroad is Book 1 in the Soul of Ashes series. D.N. Leo has again added a new and exciting storyline to the Multiverse. This book is extremely well written and the characters (especially Layla, Michael, Gale and Jaxson) are very well developed and unique. We have a blend of technology that fails, a little time-travel, magic, supernaturals, paranormals, and mystery. D.N. Leo has a way with words that draws you in from the beginning and keeps you turning pages to the end. This book is a fast paced, action packed adventure with lots of twists and turns. A great thrill ride. I highly recommend this first in series. Received a copy from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review.
A whole multiverse awaits and though this is a new series, it is all so wonderfully connected. You don’t have to read any of the other series though, as this one is turning out to be awesome all by itself.

This is a book that builds on the lives of Ciarran and Madeline, humans from Earth, who travel to Eudaiz. Ciarran becomes the leader of Eudaiz and Madeline is the First Schipil. Ciarran and Madeline have twins, a daughter, Lyla and a son, Caedmon. This stoory picks up when Lyla is grown up and Ciarran sends Michael Fraser, a young man he saved when he was a child, to help Lyla with finding and removing a Shadow from the security computer system and traveling to Xiilok to rescue some people and help them travel to Eudaiz via the Damon Gate. The glitch in those plans is Lyla’s best friend, Cayson, who is also her housekeeper’s son has gone to Xiilok to locate his fiance, Fifi and bring her back. Will he find her? Will they travel through the Daimon Gate? Will he run into difficulties?

Unique and complex. Fast paced. Interesting characters. No sexual content. Does have violence. I did find it a little confusing with so much going on.

This is a good beginning for a series. But it’s abit of a teaser and it left me a little confused and frustrated. Maybe if I had read the next or rather first book it would have been better for me. I’m looking forward to reading the rest. I want to say more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won’t go into details. I wish we could give half stars everywhere
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Wonderful characters, Page-turner, Unpredictable, Original, Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Action-packed.

Thoughts: A mixture of magic and technology, almost like a virus in the system that’s magic, so very interesting. I like the world and characters. This is definitely a tease as to what is to come and I hope we get more backstory for the characters as the series continues. I didn’t feel as pulled into the story but I do look forward to seeing what happens next. I really want to get to know Michael more and see what might happen between him and Lyla. There seems to be a hint of something there with them, and Michael shows slivers of good book boyfriend material, and you can never have too many lol.
