ShooterI ran away when I was fifteen and never looked back. I built a new life: good friends, wild adventures, and an endless parade of gorgeous women. But then I got a call that changed everything; a call that told me it was time to go back and face my demons.I never thought I’d find an angel along the way…AmeliaHe was the absolute last thing I needed in my life: someone incapable of taking … my life: someone incapable of taking anything seriously, a notorious ladies’ man, oh, and did I mention… a killer? As in, he shot people. For a living. Yeah, definitely someone I had no plans on letting in. Except, he set his sights on me and, well, when a man like him laid on the charm, he did it thick and in a way that made you never want him to stop. My only saving grace was that he was only in town for a few days.
But when I found myself in a situation and he was the only one who had any answers, well, let’s just say… things got complicated…

I just loved this book, Shooter is such a sweet talker and I really liked Amelia they are good together. Jessica Gadziala will be on my auto buy for now on.
I’ve been dying for Shooters book since I met him earlier in the reading order. “Sugar, honey, darlin” will forever be ingrained in my head.
Shooter is a sly Manwhore, sniper for hire with a huge heart. Amelia is a drug and alcohol substance abuse counselor in Shooters hometown in Alabama who ends up being Shooters dads best friend. When shooter gets called home because his dad passed away, he has no choice but to come back to set up the arrangements. What he wasn’t expecting was the rose with huge thorns that lived across the hall from where his dad was living.
This book was sweet and funny and and I loved the flow of the story. Of course it has its darkness, heartache and action and the fun between Hailstorm and the Henchmen and the tattoo artist… I highly recommend going to jessicagadziala.com and getting the reading order. You won’t be sorry!!
Shooter ran from his abusive father and childhood demons at age 15 determined never to go back. When MeeMaw calls to tell him his dad died and he needs to come back to Alabama to make arrangements, he agrees to a quick trip. Think 1, 2 nights tops. That changes when he meets Amelia and suddenly he’s agreeing to stay for the funeral. After he returns to Navesink Bank, he can’t get her off his mind. Then she shows up at his door with a problem only he can solve.
This is one of my favorite of the Navesink Bank books. I’ve always been a sucker for tattoos, a southern drawl, and a bad boy persona who is actually a sweetheart. Shooter is all of those wrapped into one. Amelia is as sweet as her sweet tea. They’re the perfect match.
5 Johnnie Walker stars
Oh god this book kinda gutted me in parts! I totally devoured this book up very quickly!
“Best fuckin’ thing that ever happened to me,having to
go back to face my demons and finding my angel.”
I Loved Shooter and his charming and sweet talking ways! Amelia and Shooter’s chemistry is off the charts hot. Killer is packed with tons of drama and suspense. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Another re-read, but this time I am modifying my 4-star rating to a 5. I am in love with Johnnie Walker “Shooter” Allen!! Even with his horrible childhood, with an abusive father, he is such an amazing man! He has a huge heart, charming, a sweet talker, and all alpha, okay, yes he is a hired killer, but still.
When Johnnie is contacted by his grandmother that his abusive father had passed away, he was guilted into returning home to take care of the arrangements. The plan was to get there, pay whatever he had to and return the next day. This all changes when he finds Amelia.
Amelia’s history was heart-breaking as well. She has been on her own for awhile and has built a wall around herself. Even though she has lived in this town for three years, she is still seen as an outsider. She has major trust issues and her experience shows that all men eventually leaves so with Johnnie leaving after the funeral she wanted nothing to do with him, and she fights him pretty hard. But when she finds herself in a dangerous position, the first person she thinks to ask for help is Johnnie.
I loved the storyline between Johnnie and Amelia. The chemistry between these two is intense, the way Johnnie talks to her and how he reacts to her is both hot and so sweet. My favorite scene had to do with the pinkie holding in chapter 3. Something about that made my heart flutter.
So much more happens in their story especially when they both end up in Navesink Bank, it was great to see all the other Henchmans and their woman. There were so many cute and hilarious scenes, definitely kept me smiling. But trouble follows them back and it gets intense. The action and suspense kept me on toes, I went from swooning over Johnnie’s actions then wanted to smack him over the head. But with the help from the girl posse, taking Amelia in, things work out perfectly.
I really enjoyed it the first time around but I truly loved it this second round. 5-star all the way!
I love these guys Jessica writes.. and the women are pretty kick butt too. Shooter’s story was so much more than I was expecting I was already expecting a great story..
Each of the guys has had crappy childhoods but Shooter was the first to actually go back to where it started and face his past demons and of course that was done with as much snarky humor as Shooter is famous for. He didn’t know what hit him when he met sweet Amelia who even though sweet still had enough piss and vinegar to hold her own.
I absolutely love that even though these books and the characters “occupations” are in the dark realm the humor through out them is just perfect. All the characters from “Reign”, “Monster”, and “Cash” are back and we get a good glimpse of one couple whose story isnt out yet as time wise this is after that one.
So my feelings on this book – LOVED IT!! Can’t wait for the next one.
