When you’re in your neighborhood liquor store trying to figure out what kind of alcohol to consume after finding out your fiancé has dumped you for a 22 year-old nanny, and the hottest guy you’ve ever seen comes up to you and offers to get you a drink at the bar down the street, you’d go—right? It’s not the kind of thing I would have done before now. I’ve been a Good Girl my whole life. Always … Always played it safe, always followed the rules. I even got engaged to the principal of the school I teach at. Well, look where that got me.
It got me back here in my apartment, with the sexiest most charming guy I’ve ever met. When I find out that he’s the nanny’s ex-boyfriend and his plan was to sleep with me to get back at my ex—you’d think I’d kick him out, right?
Wrong.
This guy Vince Devlin is exactly the kind of trouble I’ve been protecting myself from. Do I want to help him get back at my ex in this way?
Oh.
Hell.
Yes.
I want him to get back at my ex hard. With wild abandon. All night long.
I expect the hottest (and only) one-night stand of my life.
I don’t expect him to come back for more and show me the best summer I’ve ever had. I don’t expect us to fall in love. I don’t plan to invite him to come with me on my weekend getaway, I don’t expect him to say ‘yes,’ and neither of us expects to run into our exes there.
We don’t expect any of it. The only thing we know for sure is that rebounding with each other is a bad idea. The best bad idea that either of us has ever had.
REBOUND WITH ME is a sexy and sweet romantic comedy about a hot summer fling that just might turn out to be the real thing.

“There was no last night, there’s no rain, there are no questions, there is no end to this summer, there is only this.”
I was laughing out loud for most of this book. That’s Kayley’s writing for you: funny, sexy, and hot.
This is the story of Vince and Nina. Nina is a first-grade teacher who was engaged to a guy who ended up cheating on her. He was definitely an asshole, but it was actually good this happened, because she would’ve stuck with him. You see, Nina went for safety instead of passion, the poor thing. And so she settled.
Vince works in real estate, and Vince got cheated on by his girlfriend. Probably for the best too, because she definitely was NOT worth it – we get a glimpse of her in the story, and I wanted to punch her face in. Maybe Vince would have settled too, and that would’ve been so wrong.
Anyway, what starts off as a sort of ridiculous, half-ass attempt at revenge ends up becoming a real love story for him.
“Because I’ve been thinking that you’re the one who found me. Or…you keep finding these parts of me that I didn’t know existed.”
The beauty of this simple story is that, while they both didn’t see the end of their respective relationships coming, they had to end. Simply because these two people need to be together. Vince turns Nina’s world upside down by simply being himself, while Nina changes Vince’s whole world by being herself too. No gimmicks, no tricks, no trying to please other people.
You see, they couldn’t be themselves around their exes, but they can totally be themselves with each other. They’re discovering how to be happy again, and how love can be something incredible, with the right person.
“‘Baby, I would rather let you break my heart every day of my life than live without you.”
I cover my mouth. “Oh my God. Vince. We’re so cheesy.'”
I cannot stress enough how much I love both of them together. I love their cheesiness. I love the jokes, the innuendos, the sweetness. I love Nina’s made up swear words – I mean, “clucktard”, “motherflorcker”… priceless. I love Vince’s family side, and the way he is with his kid brother. Adorable.
More than anything, I love how they fit.
“And that’s how I know it’s summer again, and that for us, it always will be.”
If there’s a critique on my side, it’s that I wanted more. The book is not that short, just a bit over 200 pages, but I wanted more just because I love them together.
And the ending is perfect – another author would probably want to have a big romantic gesture, but there was no need for that with these two. Because sometimes it really is just that simple.
I had so much fun watching Vince and Nina rebound together, become stronger together and fall in love together! Their story is filled with so much heart and humor….and steamy sex, too! I loved Nina and rooted for her to discover who she truly was after her fiancé dumped her and, of course, to find love again. While Vince came across as so confident, flirty and sexy, he realized right away that Nina was special and let himself be vulnerable with her. Their journey was such fun and I was glad that it wasn’t filled with too much angst.
I love Kayley Loring’s writing and her incredible wit. I laugh more in her books than in any others, and yet her stories are also incredibly heartfelt and emotional. I also love that she always gives us such loveable and funny side characters. Nina’s parents are a hoot and Vince’s family is great, too. Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton are excellent in their narration and make you want to be friends with and/or fall in love with their characters
Originally I read this book in 2019 before it was revised, and just now I’ve read it again after the revisions, so I’m rewriting my review and giving it more stars. I like it much more now that “stalkery” Vince has been made less scary and more likable from the very start. He really is quite a sweet man and the beginning of the story is more believable the way it is written in this newer version.
This book is a bit different from most other Kayley Loring books. Her books are usually quite funny, but this book Is less humorous. It has a more serious tone and subject matter.
There’s a couple things in this story that make it a unique romance. These are things that you don’t often see in the romance genre unfortunately. 1) Vince and Nina actually DATE!!! Vince plans all kinds of cool things tailored to Nina’s interests. 2) Vince spends a fair amount of time in therapy. In so many romance books I have wanted one or both of the characters to get therapy because let’s face it, sometimes they’re pretty crazy, and love can’t cure all, no matter what any story wants you to believe.
If you’ve read a lot of Kayley Loring’s books and are expecting a fun rom/com you will be surprised at this one. It’s completely different from the others, but a really sweet romance and a great story about how resolving and accepting past experiences can enable character evolution and permit new relationships to unfold. I loved the depth of this story and also enjoyed the Joni Mitchell and Rumi references. Give this one a try. It’s very well done. And if you read it in the box set there’s a super cute new epilogue.
I’ve previously met Vince and Nina in The Plus Ones, however, I LOVED getting to see how they met and the start of their relationship. Plus, their meet cute was fun and I LOVED it.
Vince and Nina are both newly single. Neither looking for anything series, so what’s better than a fun summer fling? After the summer they will part ways and both move on with their lives….but things never really work how we want them to.
I love Vince and he has definitely made my Kayley book boyfriend list. He is sweet, but he also has a dirty side to him. I loved how he cared for his little brother, it was sweet and will seriously melt your heart. Nina is also super loveable. She is funny, sweet and she is caring. The two of them together have amazing chemistry that was instant! I couldn’t get enough of them and their banter. I seriously was cracking up while I was listening to the audiobook of this story.
The narrators, Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright, did a FANTASTIC job bringing both Vince and Nina to life. They both captured Vince and Nina so perfectly that it made the story so much fun to listen to.
This one is a MUST READ and a MUST LISTEN if you’re looking for a laugh out loud romcom.
4.5 Sweet & Steamy Stars!
I adored this sweet, heartwarming, and steamy romance! Vince & Nina meet initially under dastardly circumstances. But they connect right from the start and have a night filled with fun and sizzling passion. Nina is a first grade teacher and she is surprised when the sexy, tattooed Vince wants more from her. The are both on the rebound from ex’s who cheated on them when they agree to a summer, no strings affair. They have so much fun together and soon their walls come down and their hearts come back to life. Just when they start to consider more, ex’s reappear, and secrets are revealed that could make it all come crashing down. Nina and Vince are so great together. They are both so vulnerable from past hurts, and they help each other begin to trust and love again.
I just love Mackenzie Cartwright, and Teddy Hamilton’s narration as they bring this story to life. They are so adept at making me see each character so clearly, and experience all their emotions. I feel like I’m right there with them, getting swept away in their performance. I was completely captivated by this entertaining and incredibly sexy romance, and loved every minute of it!
