Murder and free recipes! What could go wrong?Book 3 of 6 in the Baker Street Mysteries- well reviewed for being clean, funny, sweet mysteries.Georgie Tanner’s excitement to be part of her historic town’s annual Franco-American commemorative charity event, but fun turns to tragedy when Gainesville’s least favorite resident drops dead at the party. In the chaos that follows the town harpy’s death, … follows the town harpy’s death, a priceless heirloom goes missing–the sword George Washington gave to the war hero who detained Benedict Arnold.
While Georgie is always ready to help her town solve a mystery, this one turns personal when someone suspects that Georgie may have been the one to serve the toxic dish! She must identify the culprit before she becomes the primary suspect… although as the investigation progresses, it’s not long before being a murder suspect is the least of her worries.

I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone that likes cozy mysteries that are light reading, entertaining and are not full of graphic scenes. CeeCee James is one of my favorite authors.

While helping her friend serve a catered dinner at millionaires’ Steve and Denise Miguel’s home, Georgie (or Gigi) Tanner, a helper at a bed-and-breakfast, learns that the guest who abruptly left the dinner table at the start of the meal is not only missing but is also lying dead in another room of the house. The woman, Veronica Vanderton, had informed whomever would listen that she has numerous allergies and must be very careful about what she eats. When Mrs. Vanderton is found, the guests also discover that the ancient sword, the pride of Steve Miguel and his reason for the dinner, is suddenly missing from the place where he had it displayed. Georgie helps her childhood friend Frank, the grandson of the owner of the bed-and-breakfast owner and also a police officer, solve the murder and find out what happened to the sword. She puts together possible suspects and in doing so, puts herself in danger. While working together, Georgie and Frank become closer and closer until readers see the start of a budding romance. I really liked the descriptive language the author uses because you can almost see yourself there with Georgie, whether she in trying to find clues to solve what happened to the murdered woman and to the sword or is trying to cook a perfect creme brulee.
A fun slightly predicable story. Characters well developed.
