When I found out vampires were real, everything changed. And yet, strangely, it all stayed the same, too.I still worked for a secret metaphysical branch of the FBI. Although, thanks to being thrown around like a rag doll on my last case, I was currently on medical leave. A small mercy given how much personal baggage I had to unload at the moment. The fallout from the last case didn’t stop at … case didn’t stop at bodily injury. It went much further than that, cracking the foundation of my life and my career in one fell swoop.
Supernatural serial killers are a pain in the ass like that.
I just want to rest and pretend I’m not psychic, but when a team of serial killers hits my hometown, I have to step in.
No, really. It has to be me. No one else knows about the vampires and fey fighting a shadow war right under everyone’s noses, and it turns out these serial killers might be involved in the latest supernatural scuffle.
On top of that, I’ve got boyfriend troubles, I’m bonded to the world’s most annoying vampire, and my DNA is suddenly a hot commodity among vampires—as in, everyone wants a piece of me.
I have all the wrong karma sometimes.

Melia is pushed hard again in this story, once again fighting to stay alive. Her connection to Maxim tenuous at best. The story is fast paced and keeps you on edge from cover to cover. There’s lots of story left to explore and will leave you wanting for the next book already.
I received an ARC of this story and have voluntarily chosen to review it here.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have already bought my copy; have you?
The cover fits with book 1 which I like!
This is the 2nd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence. While it isn’t mandatory to read in order, I highly recommend doing so to understand the characters better and the world.
This book was action-packed, but it was not much fun for Amelia. I swear everything that could go wrong did for her. My heart went out to her especially with everything that happened with Brendan. Everyone keeps looking at her talking about power, but she isn’t feeling it. I really want her to overcome and be able to be the strong independent woman she is, and she needs a turn of luck too!
This world is very diverse with paranormal elements as well as being unique. Michelle Fox created an amazing story though the end feels cliff hangery, and I’m definitely needing the next book to see what happens next!
I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who want a complex world where you never know what will happen next!
This is the second book in the Immortal Kin series and I can not stress how much you really need to read book one to appreciate the second book. I also want to say these two books alone are reading like a great show on the scfi channel. This book begins where the first book ended. Mel or FBI Agent Amelia Larson is still recovering from her injuries from book one and her bonded vampire Maxim come strolling in to help her heal. OH my hottie that he is, he is still annoying. Then we have boyfriend Brendan who has a strong presence in this book, even when he is not being talked about. Agent Dodd’s got some strong powers himself and I can not wait to see how they manifest in future books. I love how different and unique the paranormal world is in this series. Author, Michelle Fox has written so vivally not just each of the characters that interact with our agents but also the land beyond the portal as well. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
The intensity of the series is maintained, plot is still revealing more paranormal and is full of action. In this world with uncertainty on every hand, the paranormal does hold its own. After reading the first book, I was hoping that Amelia would mature in her abilities this time around. She can definitely “kick ass” but until she learns who & what she is, I think she will continue to get her “ass kicked.” Knowledge is power, she realizes that she needs it but the effort was not there to get it, this time around. Its still a great addition to the series, worth reading and I can’t wait to see what happens next, the Immortal plot just seems to be outgrowing her.
Good continuation to the Immortal Kin series by Michelle Fox. I do recommend brushing up on the first book, Rare Stakes, first because Fox really does throw you into the ring and does not rehash anything that happened in the previous book. As Fox once explained about this story, she really did write this story where the main character takes a beating and Fox really does not pull any punches. Throughout the entire story. Amelia faces some serious demons within herself that threaten to sideline her forever, but thankfully she pulls her head on right and finds the drive to fight to save those who can’t save themselves. I normally hate books where all the cards are stacked against the main character, but Fox adds some unexpected surprises that keep you hooked till the very end. I also like how she’s given Lilia, a secondary character, a more central role in this story and we get some insight into her past. Lastly, I can appreciate Fox using this story to set you up for some high-flying action in the book(s) to come in this series. As always, I really enjoy her wit and humor that is prevalent throughout the entire book. This story hooked me so well that I read the entire book in a day, and cannot wait to read the next continuation of this series!
You Put a Spell On Me….
FBI Agent Amelia Larson works in a special metaphysical department of the FBI and found out the hard way on her last assignment, that other paranormal existed, namely vampires, scratch that feeders cause that’s what they call themselves and feys….They don’t feed on blood like the old days now they feed on folks like her, psychics and she seems to be a very special one that those darn feeders all want to get their hands on. Even someone from down under in fairyland has a serial killer up here looking for her. Thing is she can’t figure out who it is, even her psychic abilities can’t help her figure it out. Then there is the problem of the feeder who saved her life on that last assignment, he had to bond her to him in order to save her life and now she can’t seem to shake him, not to mention her boyfriend is blocking her from his mind. All in all Melia is not having a good time these days, when all she wants is to get back to normal solving cases for the FBI. Problem is they keep telling her she’s not normal and she won’t back down and take the help they want to give her. But one thing is for sure, she is going to learn all she can about magic and maybe in the process she will finally learn what she really is in all this craziness.
This second book in the Immortal Kin series is a very intriguing, mysterious, tongue in cheek, who done it that will keep you on the edge of your seat to the end.
After her last encounter with supernaturals Mel is throwing a real pity party for herself. And it looks like it’s only getting worse before it gets better. She is such a strong character I hate to see her get knocked down, but she always gets back up. I love, love this story but I hate that I have to wait for the next installment. Mel’s “world” is still revealing more surprises to her and us, but not enough to give us a lead as to what’s next. UGH! I need another fix.
Mel is an FBI agent. A special FBI agent. A special, psychic FBI agent. She takes on cases only her special team can handle. Which is why she’s trying to heal from her last deadly case. When another serial killer/s start leaving bodies in a most sickening manner she has to come off sick leave. She’s working with a newbie and a vampire. Oh, sorry, “feeder.” The first chapter will explain their connection. During an attempt to capture the culprit, Mel is introduced to a whole new world she’s not ready for. The more she learns the more she just wants out.
This one teaches her about trust, loss, friendship and the lessons come at a steep price. Just when she thinks she has it figured out, another creature or more knowledge add to the mystery. Who will she be able to trust? Will the knowledge gained put her life in more danger? There are answers and more questions.
What a rollercoaster ride this book is. Seems anything that could go wrong for Melia did. Being a psychic only helps so far. I do enjoyed the rush this book gave me. Blindsided all the way through it was riveting.
Magical Mystical and things that go thump in the night!!
FBI agent and psychic Amelia Larsen is recovering from injuries received from her latest case. She has a new roommate who is bonded to her for their mutual protection (and her irritation). Supernatural serial killers are on the loose, and her boyfriend receives an unexpected visitor, making him now her “ex”.
With a friend who is either green or invisible, and portals spilling wicked magical beings into her world, Amelia has her hands full. Twists, turns, humor and family problems all combine to create a stellar read!!
Can’t wait for more from this amazing series!!
