This is the second mystery I have read lately and I need to read more of them if they are this good. I really need to read the first two books in this series to catch up. So i guess that does tell you that ya do not have to read them in any order to be okay. (wink) This book had me captured from the start to the very end of the book. Yes it is a mystery but is also has some romance in there too. The story is well written and it keep me looking around the corners trying to figure out the who done it….. and I was wrong… LOL I love reading a book based around the area that I live and visit Texas and Louisiana. Allie moves to Louisiana to escape her ex-husband who likes to be controlling in all ways. So when she escapes an attempted kidnapping she assumes it is him…. NOT the work of a serial killer. OH boy. It brings her into the path of BRI agent Daniel or rather Danny DeLuca. What starts off as professional doesn’t stay that way when your life’s on the line.Come take a peak and see if you can discover who DoNe It before it is told in the book.
I rated “No Angel” (nook) as 3 stars although I was leaning more toward 3-1/2 stars. I was mildly disappointed in some portions of the story. The first was when Allie’s ex-husband was listed as Gary “Keenan” on page 94 in Chapter 9. Every other time he was Gary “Kender.” A couple of times Allie’s thoughts and actions were inconsistent from one page to another. In Chapter 11, Laroche suggests that the number 12 could refer to a jury. A page or so later DeLuca states that he (already) has a plane to San Antonio to search records regarding a jury. With a little bit of clean-up the story would be better.
Fun story with a little darkness mixed in. Thanks!
An action packed and very entertaining story. The killer was a surprise for me.
The only downside was that the book could have been proofread a bit more. There are mistakes like an incorrect surname when the ex is identified.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series, not aware it was a series until after I had purchased. But it does well as a standalone, so kudos there.
Now. Can we talk about this book cover and a major disconnect?
Fabulous abs, but the cover speaks to me of a hot romance. Sizzling. Which this isn’t. At all. It’s a thriller/suspense with an unexpected romance built in. The romance aspect is somewhat awkward because of FBI guy Danny. He’s a nice guy who tries to put victims at ease, but he’s also by-the-book FBI. Falling for a witness or victim isn’t allowed in that FBI book. Allie Tyler, on the other hand, although a victim, is also a kickass woman who knows what she wants. So while Danny alternately gives in/pushes back to their attraction, Allie is all in and calls him on his crap.
Now Danny has an emotional stake in the game whether he wants to admit it or not, and there’s not only Allie’s abusive ex stalking her, but also a serial killer who she escaped from. And Danny knows the killer is circling back around to finish what he started. All in all, lots going on to keep you turning pages as Danny races against time to discover the killer’s motives and identity so Danny can prevent more deaths, Allie’s especially.
All these pieces work together to make a fabulous story. Little of this story has to do with that deceiving book cover and those abs.
What a great book. Romantic but full of intrigue. I would get so caught up in it, I’d have to put it down fearing what would happen next and yet couldn’t wait to find out so would start reading again! Two people who met under the worst conditions and yet found true love….my kind of book. Thank you for writing!
Confusing to keep up with characters. Never sure if you like or dislike main character
