The road for Noah Westbury has been carved out for him, long before he knew who his father was. Making sure he worked hard to deserve the opportunities provided to him, Noah is where he’s dreamed of being – starting QB for Portland Pioneers. Together, with his model girlfriend by his side, life can’t get much better. Except that standing in his path is Peyton Powell-James, his life-long friend … and the one woman he can never have.
Peyton Powell-James always knew her future would be in football and dreams of having a successful sports journalism career once she graduates college. After being given the assignment to cover a professional game from the sidelines, Peyton believes that everything is going to plan. Until one fateful night changes her life.
Harsh reality sets in for Noah and Peyton. One could lose everything, while the other struggles to keep the families together.

I love this family, all of them. By blood, by band, or just roped in, there is so much to each of these characters and I’m so glad Heidi is working on the next generation! The kids are such a huge part of the story, they are the story sometimes and it only feels right to follow them as the grow up.
My heart was broken wide open during most of this story and I’ll admit I had my hand on my heart and holding my breath with oohs, awhs, and NO!! But then, so sweet. Such an endearing story… I love them all. So glad I stumbled upon this book cause I didn’t know the series was continuing. Please do Quinn next!!!
I have to say I enjoyed this book. The story was different than I expected but I still liked it. It’s a sweet and lovely read for in between.
The whole story is about Peyton and Noah, who are best friends. Both in love with each other but too afraid to admit it. But everything changes when Peyton gets into an accident. That’s when everything starts.
To read about Peyton and Noah, how they fall in love, have their special moments and just everything that they have to go through is very emotional to read. The whole best-friends-to-lovers romance is just a must-read for me and I really enjoyed reading everything about Peyton and Noah.
Although I have to say that I was really confused for some time because in the first few chapters there are like 20 different characters. I didn’t know how old they were, if they were family/friends, and I just didn’t know anything about them. So I was really confused who everybody was. I have only read Forever My Girl in the Beaumont Series and that has been a long time ago, so I just didn’t know all these other people. About halfway in I knew the most important characters – parents, siblings, friends – but the others were just confusing because there was no proper explanation who everybody was and how they are related to Peyton and Noah.
You can read this book as a standalone but I would recommend you read the Beaumont Series first, otherwise you’ll get confused with all the different characters.
Altogether I liked Holding Onto Forever. You get to know Peyton and Noah, feel with them, love with them and break with them. Their story is beautiful and emotional and I’m definitely intrigued what’s happening in the next book in the series.
Loved the book. I started the series a while ago. I got several of the books for Christmas and made sure to read it all before the Forever My Girl movie came out. The series has me hooked.
There is just something about Beaumont. Even though the second generation is now grown, all of the characters still have me in their grip.
“As far as Elle and the rest of my family is concerned, Noah’s my best friend. To me, he’s the man I’m desperately in love with.”
Peyton’s point of view was ripping me apart. There were many times I was wiping tears from my eyes. I am a huge crier, but typically when I read I only get misty. It is rare that tears fall. Well they fell and more than once. The emotion was pouring off of the pages. I felt like I needed to hand out hugs. I just knew Harrison needed me to comfort him. *sigh*
Noah. All grown up and wears his heart on his sleeve, much like Dad. He has a situation come knocking that makes him question everything, including himself. I was screaming at him. I couldn’t help it, I feel like I “watched him grow up” basically from the previous books, I was shaking my kindle so hard hoping to knock some sense into him!
“To Peyton, I’m Noah. The guy she’s known her entire life and once called her best friend. To me, she’s everything.”
This book made he realize just how much I still love this gang and never want to let go. I will be Holding Onto Forever with them. I will forever be a Beaumont babe and look forward to continuing on with as many generations as the author can give me.
4.5 angsty stars. Loved Noah and Peyton’s story. It’s full of hidden feelings and rude awakenings with a twist. A must read in this spin off from the original series. I’m hoping for more.
I absolutely love the idea of this spin-off series. The Beaumont Series is a favorite, one I have read five times. I can see the same happening with this series.
Noah is all grown up and doing what he loves, but without the one he loves by his side. He has settled. I sat dumbfounded, not believing the error of his ways. It became clear very quickly, that Noah is still young and like his dad will make mistakes before getting it right.
Peyton totally rocks this story. She is strong. She is intelligent. She is determined. When her life is destroyed she finds the strength to keep going.
The gang is around lending support to both. I just wish that they would have butt in earlier with Noah. The boy needed a reality check. Thankfully love does conquer all and helps Noah grow up
I loved so many different aspects of “Holding Onto Forever” by Heidi McLaughlin. I found myself hold my breath on the edge of my seat for most of this book. The roller coaster of emotions I felt took me by surprise, but I loved it. There were parts of the story lines with each of the main characters that left me frustrated by their “decisions”… but isn’t that real life?
I’m so glad that this amazing series will continue on through the eyes of the next generation… can’t wait to see how it evolves along the way.
This is a great series to read if you have read the original Beaumont series – it can stand alone – but would be so much better if read afterwards… not to mention that the first series is amazing, so why wouldn’t you read it!
Happy reading…enjoy!
I really enjoyed the Beaumont series, the first 3 books. This one opens with Peyton and then with the tragedy comes the full confetti box of every character mentioned in the first series, followed by ‘not what happened to my father’. Didn’t like the whole out of body, repetitious use of things like ‘strange drumsticks’. Feels like overkill, way too much drama, and not interested in Next Gen. I realize all of the different career interests – also described during the tragedy – will give plenty of storyline options outside of music. Great, don’t care, couldn’t get past p39.
I give this book a 10 star, is a MUST READ!!!
I’ve been waiting for this book too long. And just two days ago I have the pleasure of purchase it, so I started to read immediately.
I really, really love the Beaumont Series, its one of my favorite series ever. And I was so excited to have a Next Generation Series. Noah is his own character, I was really amaze because I was looking for Liam in him, but, yes is his son, but no, he’s not the same, and that’s amazing because I love him, all of him. His love for Peyton, his devotion to do the right thing and how, beyond everything, he’s still gentle.
And what about Peyton? OMG, I have no words, she’s sweet, I know she’s beautiful and so brave. I have to admit it I cry, I was no expecting that, no when his dad had died the same way. The way her family are by her side shows just how important she is. I love that she’s into sports, I love sports and sometimes I feel like she did: misundertood because I’m a GIRL, wow.
SPOILER ALERT
Everything about this book is special, we have the opportunity of meet again with the previus amazing characters, and some new ones that you’re going to care about *Ben* (hahaha). But the best part was being able to interact with an old character: Mason, he’s so importatn in all this story, since Liam coming back, to Peyton fighting for her life. I was in really messy tears when the see each other, because everyone suffer his dead, but the girls are forgetting some things about him, the were too little to remerber everything, so it was so special to know he is really watching them.
I haven’t read any of the other books in the series. But this one felt stunted and I did not feel any chemistry between the two leads.
HOLDING ONTO FOREVER is the first installment in Heidi McLaughlin’s The Beaumont Series spin off-The Next Generation. This is quarterback for the Portland Pioneers Noah Westbury (Liam and Josie’s son-Forever My Girl) and journalism major Peyton Powell-James’s (Katelyn, Harrison and Mason’s daughter-An Unexpected Forever) story line. HOLDING ONTO FOREVER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the original BEAUMONT series for cohesion and backstory about the people of Beaumont and the rock band 4225 West.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Noah and Peyton) HOLDING ONTO FOREVER picks up immediately upon (and crosses over with) the events of the author’s October 2017 novella FOREVER OUR BOYS wherein life will take an unexpected turn for our story line couple. Best friends since childhood Noah and Peyton have danced around their attraction to one another for several years but Noah’s professional football career (and their two year age difference) placed him directly in the path of unwanted attention and a myriad of women vying for his money and love.
Peyton’s latest journalism assignment finds our heroine front and center with the Chicago Bears of the NFL, and their star quarterback Kyle Zimmerman when a near fatal tragedy will bring together the Beaumont clan and the members of the rock band 4225 West. Noah Westbury will struggle with the potentially life changing circumstances for his best friend, while Peyton fights the battle of her life. What ensues is the friends to lovers relationship that is threatened when sins of the past come looking for a second chance.
The relationship between Noah and Peyton is a friends to lovers romance wherein Noah must decide with whom his heart belongs. Peyton struggles with her attraction to the man she has loved all of her life, a love that may not be given in return. The $ex scenes are limited; the romance is passionate and heartbreaking.
HOLDING ONTO FOREVER looks at memories, introspection, flashbacks to the past, and the otherworldly presence of one woman struggling with the here and now. I am being purposely vague such that to give any more clues would reveal the heartbreaking and emotional concept of the story line premise. The world building brings together most, if not all, of the BEAUMONT series characters and couples giving the spin off a sense of familiarity and love.
HOLDING ONTO FOREVER is a story about friendship and family; love and understanding; healing and letting go. The premise is dramatic, imaginative and encouraging; the characters are emotional and spirited; the romance is subtle and passionate. HOLDING ONTO FOREVER re-introduces the next generation- the progeny of the rock back 4225 West with a captivating look at two treasured and cherished characters we have grown to love.
