Myla Rose McGraw may be twenty, single, and pregnant, but she’s no damsel in distress. She doesn’t need a man. After all, her Grams taught her a thing or two about making lemonade out of life’s lemons. Then she meets Cash Carson. Reeling from a bad breakup, Cash has sworn off love. It led to nothing but pain and misery, and he’s determined to move forward alone. Until a redheaded Southern beauty … redheaded Southern beauty crashes into him. With her shopping cart. At the local Piggly Wiggly.
If love wasn’t for him, why did his heart beat a little faster every time Myla Rose sent that sweet smile his way?
He was no knight, and she didn’t need saving.
But damn if he didn’t want to try anyway.
COMING UP ROSES is a sweet, Southern fairy tale—with a twist.

Really enjoyed this story. The characters were great. And each bring something great to the story. I just hope my daughter finds herself a “Cash”.
I deleted book after reading a couple of chapters.
The plot of this book is believable, which is the only reason for the 2 stars. The dialogue was not believable to me, especially being from the South as these characters are – even in the smallest towns, people don’t talk as these characters do. The liberal use of the F-bomb was a bit much too – and it’s one of my favorite 4 letter words…
loved the two main characters!
Not my usual fair, but I got in on special so it was a low risk purchase. It is part of a series, but stands alone. It’s like hot buttered popcorn: light enjoyable and prefect for a Friday Night. I enjoyed that the main characters have their ‘tribe’ (who I suspect each get their own story). It was quirky yet believable.
Not really a great book. No real story line just a drawn out short story in my opinion. Girl finds out she’s pregnant and baby daddy doesn’t want baby or girl. Guy finds girlfriend cheating on him, leaves and moves home. Prego girl and brokenhearted guy meet, have drama, fall in love, have more drama, get married all before having the baby. Guy accepts baby as his own.
My emotional roller coaster was going crazy! Loved that it ended happily!
Sweetest and most loveable love interest.
Coming Up Roses is an unusual story where a young woman tells her boyfriend she’s pregnant and he tells her he doesn’t want her or the baby. Ok, not so unusual yet. She decided she would raise the baby on her own. She doesn’t need a man. I liked how she was going to handle it herself. And she had lots of great friends who had her back. She doesn’t want anything to do with the new man in town who is enamored with her and wants to help her any way he can.
This is a sweet romance with some spice and great characters. Some you wanted to hug and some you wanted to slap upside the head. I loved this young woman and was hoping everything would work out for her. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like sweet romances with a few chuckles and a bit of spice.

So this is LK Farlow’s first novel. I have to say that it’s right on track with most author’s first books. It has a great foundation; the story is interesting and has great potential. I have to be honest in saying that the writing isn’t all there. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad at all…it just means that it’ll get better!
I think that she was trying to go for an “alpha male” with Cash but I just wasn’t completely feeling it. It reminded me of Aurora Rose Reynolds… all her heroes are 110% alpha male and insta-love/lust. But for me it wasn’t there in the whole package with Cash. With ARR, I felt it throughout…the lust and interest was strong and complete. That all-consuming passion almost seemed a little lacking between Myla Rose and Cash.
I am definitely interested in reading more from LK because I really think her writing style will come around. I’m looking forward to watch her success!
Coming Up Roses (Southern Roots #1) by LK Farlow is a sweet, contemporary, small-town romance told in alternating POV. I loved both Myla Rose and Cash as lead characters. The supporting characters were also very likeable and fun.
Myla Rose is pregnant by her douche canoe of an ex-boyfriend who dumped her as soon as he found out. She’s preparing to raise a child as a single parent.
Cash was planning on proposing to his long-term girlfriend until he caught her in the act of cheating. He moves to a new town to get a fresh start.
When Myla Rose and Cash meet the attraction is instant but neither is looking for a relationship. Living in such a small town keeps them running into each other, and they can’t deny their chemistry. But in order to find happiness together, they both need to overcome the heartbreak from their pasts and trust each other.
I really enjoyed this story. It was just so sweet! I gobbled it up like a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies! I will definitely read the other books in this series.
Where to begin? That is the question I’ve been asking myself for several weeks since I finished reading this phenomenally captivating debut novel from the extraordinarily talented LK Farlow! I absolutely adored every single aspect of this sweet southern romance that gave me all the warm and fuzzies while reading it! I cannot believe that this is the author’s debut novel due to the fact that it is so well written and her character development is on point! You’ve got those characters that you instantly fall in love with and then of course you’ve got those characters that you instantly hate. No two characters are alike and even those with minor roles shine through during their scenes.
Myla Rose McGraw is just twenty years old and yet she has already been through so much pain and loss, yet she is one of the strongest characters I’ve met in sometime. Even when she finds out that she is pregnant and her jerk of an ex-boyfriend refuses to have anything to do with the child, she is strong and learns that not everyone is as they seem. Enter in Cash Carson, a man in his mid-to-late 20’s who has just discovered that his happy relationship of years was all a sham. How can two broken souls come together when they’ve both been hurt time after time? I thought this was a great story especially considering it was this Authors debut novel. I loved Myla Rose , and of course Cash was totally to die for. Their group of friends or family was a much added bonus to the story. I did find it a bit over the top southern, I am a southern woman, Tennessee, but man I was starting to get a tick every time he said Darlin.
Let me just start by saying this was a really great book. For this girl to over come all she has gone threw to be loved so hard it awesome. This man is a true gentlemen threw and threw. He fell hard and fast. It was an emotional read for all the chatterers. It kept me on my toes. I can not wait to see if there will be another book. I would read it in a heart beat. Thank you for such and heart felt book.
Sweet southern romance. I highly recommend.
Coming Up Roses is the first novel in the Southern Roots series. What a way to start a series and what a way for L.K. Farlow to start her writing career! I loved the way this novel flowed effortlessly.
Myla Rose is pregnant…with her douche of an ex’s baby. When she first found out, she had dreams of white picket fences and the perfect family. Those dreams where quick to shatter when her baby daddy decided he wanted nothing to do with her baby.
Cash Carson just had his heart torn out of his chest. He had the roses, the candles, and the ring. All he needed was the woman to say yes. His dreams came to an end when he finds his girl in bed with another man. Now Cash is back home and healing his broken heart.
My favorite part of this novel was the first meeting between Myla Rose and Cash! I immediately felt the sparks and I Immediately wanted them to be together. These two are adorably sexy.
I cannot wait to read more from L.K. Farlow in the future! I have a great feeling that she will become one of my favorite authors!
Saccharine sweet and cute to boot!
This is LK Farlow’s debut novel and it is a definite sweet and romantic tale told with expert Southern charm. The first in the Southern Roots series (love the name and the double meaning with it being the local hair salon), Coming Up Roses is a first time lovers romance that I quite enjoyed reading.
With both Cash and Myla coming off nasty break ups, neither are looking for love but they can’t deny the chemistry between them that they both feel after only a simple touch. What follows is a slow burn romance that morphs into a quick and easy read that I didn’t want to put down.
I will admit, the story at times didn’t flow like I expected it to and some of the drama seemed a little forced – but this doesn’t detract from what is a lovely romance novel that I’d still temcommed reading. And I can’t wait to see what this author gives us next (with An Uphill Battle coming out next week) and the growth and maturity her writing will show I’m sure.
3.5 Southern Stars
Talk about a swoon fest with Cash and Myla Rose in Coming Up Roses and all the feels! LK Farlow totally made me fall in love with Cash and his southern ways. Myla Rose was also nicely written with her sweet but tough as nails attitude. Super impressed by LK Farlow’s debut with this emotional roller-coaster. All her characters are so full of their own personality. They will make you laugh, swoon, cry, and even want to junk punch a character or two.
In this first installment of the Southern Roots series, you read about how Myla Rose is left high and dry by her jerk of an ex boyfriend after she tells him she’s pregnant. Cash’s own views also turn jaded by his own ex’s betrayal. But when these two meet, their attraction is something neither of them can help. Even though neither of them feel like they’re ready for a relationship with their baggage still so fresh, they can’t deny the pull to each other as their feelings only grow stronger.
I’m loving the start of this series and can’t get enough! I can not wait to see what’s next. I need to know Azalea, Saraphine, Magnolia and the boy’s stories. Definitely a must read!
Loved It!!
After being dumped by her boyfriend..she finds herself alone and pregnant. With her friends and a newcomer she learns love is always there. Love comes when you least expect it. Life and Love are funny this way.
Highly recommended.
