ZANE
Ex-soldier Zane Tucker is perfectly happy with his single life and his adventure watersports business. A gambler by nature, he figures the odds of finding a woman for forever are a lot longer than finding a woman for right now. And as a man of action and not emotion, he believes a woman with lasting romance on the mind would want someone with less hard muscle and more soft sentiment. But then his dog hurtles toward the new county librarian, yanking Zane into her delicate, pretty presence. Will they both scare her away? And why does that worry him so?
Harper Grace has a bucket list of goals to tick off and is determined to live every moment to the fullest by overcoming her usual shyness. No one will call her too timid and too boring ever again. But then a giant of a man and his equally large dog charge into her life and she can’t decide if she wants to take a step back…or step fully into Zane’s strong arms. She’s been brave enough to change her life, but does she have enough courage to risk her heart?
Don’t miss any of the sexy soldiers!

Good book. Zane came home to Eagle Ridge after his Army Ranger career ended in injury. Along with his brother, Adam, he started an adventure watersports business. He enjoys his bachelor life and sticks to women who don’t expect commitment. That all comes to an end when his dog, Gambler, crashes into the new librarian, Harper, and knocks her over. Something tells him that his life will never be the same.
Harper moved to Eagle Ridge from San Francisco, determined to change her life. Naturally shy and introverted, she’s been called boring once too often. She has a list of goals, and getting distracted by Zane wasn’t in the plan.
I enjoyed watching the relationship between Zane and Harper grow. Though the chemistry between them runs hot, both have been burned in the past. As a young soldier, Zane fell for a Southern girl who allowed him to woo her, but when he got serious, she called him too big, too clumsy, and too rough around the edges for any woman. Thanks to her, he feels like the proverbial beast and destined to be alone. He often feels like a bull in a china shop, along with his neurotic dog, who really is. Risking his heart again is not in the cards. Zane also has lingering issues over his mother leaving the family after he outgrew his childhood asthma. Harper, too, has been hurt. Engaged to an attorney for two years, he suddenly broke their engagement when she reserved the church for their wedding. Not only did he claim she was too boring, but he cheated on her for six months with one-night-stands. She’s not interested in another relationship.
Complicating matters, Zane’s brother Adam and his sister Bailey have both recently found love interests. Though he won’t admit it, Zane feels a little out-of-sorts. The townspeople say he’s moping because he’s still single and keep trying to set him up with various women. In a convoluted series of events, Zane claims that he and Harper are an item, forcing them to spend time together. I loved watching them get to know each other – the big, tough guy with a hidden soft spot and the petite librarian with an unexpected adventurous side. I loved seeing Zane’s softer side come out as he showed Harper how wrong her ex was about her. I ached for him and his insecurities as his feelings for Harper grew, but he had trouble believing she would want him. I liked seeing Harper blossom under Zane’s attention, discovering she’s stronger and braver than she knew. There’s a terrific scene when her ex shows up in Eagle Ridge expecting to pick up where he left off, and I loved seeing her disabuse him of that notion, aided and abetted by Zane. I loved their “aha” moments when each one realized the depth of their feelings. Zane’s big moment was sweet and emotional, and I loved how it happened.
There was a secondary romance between Zane’s father, Sam, owner of the local diner, and the diner’s manager, Brenda. I especially enjoyed his reaction to her makeover.
Wonderful Small Town Romance where the giant clumsy guy who doesn´t believe in forever love meets this tiny shy librarian and fall head over heels. His fearful dog is an extraordinary character also. Can´t put down!
Zane (7 Brides for 7 Soldiers #3) by Christie Ridgway …Still loving this series of books and the soldiers and them finding their brides. On to book 4 Wyatt’s story.
Run Over
By a dog. Harper is the local librarian and loved his job, she moved to Eagle Ridge to change her life and get over a bad breakup. Zane is the one guy not looking for a relationship, but his dog Gambler has a way of changing that. Can they both find love.
I love Zane! He’s so cute with his bulk, rough edges and leopard spots which contrasts the soft, demure and shy librarian, Harper. This opposites attract romance is sweet, tender and very exciting as you follow these two people maneuvering their way around their feelings for each other.
I loved Harper and how she was willing to take the bull by the horns. She is quiet and shy after being cheated on and unceremoniously dumped by her fiance. Harper makes the decision change and challenge herself. Zane is rough, callous yet has a heart of gold, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. In my opinion Harper and Zane are the perfect ying and yang. They balance each other and support each other. Now the problem I had was there was some weird phrasings and word usage. I appreciate that this series is written by different authors and the books are written so they can be read as stand alone. The stand alone element becomes a problem because the history of the town, the feud and previous characters is rehashed. That becomes annoying for me. I was entertained and enjoyed this book.
This is the first book I read from this author and I really enjoyed it. It is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I read the book with a smile on my face. I love small town book because they tend to have great characters. This book was no exception.
Zane and Harper were great together. I did shake my head a few times at Zane for being stubborn.
I recommend this book. You won’t regret reading it.
Zane is book 3 in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers Series. This book very easily can be a stand alone.
Harper Grace is the new town librarian who meets Zane with the help of his dog, dog, Gambler. Zane is a big guy that owns his own Outdoor Company. He’s not into relationships.
Their attraction is instant. Zane is fighting against himself. He doesn’t feel he’s the right person for Harper. Like he’s not good enough, which is very sad. He shows what a wonderful person he is by taking on a dog with issues that not very many people would take on. He also has Harper’s back while she’s training for the race.
Zane and his friends make some interesting bets which brings some humor to this story.
I think it’s great that not only does Zane find love his dad does too. I enjoyed reading this boo
I loved reading Zane by Christie Ridgway, the third book in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series. Zane Tucker was the sickly twin until he outgrew his asthma and became as strong as Adam; unfortunately, that was the same time his mother left them for the bright lights of Hollywood. After a shoulder injury forces his departure from the Army, he returns home to Eagle’s Ridge to open a water-sports business. Zane believes that his large size makes him uncoordinated, like a bull in the china shop, not unlike his undisciplined dog. When his dog, Gamble, knocks down Harper Grace, Eagle’s Ridge’s new librarian, Zane finds himself a new friend. Harper came to Eagle’s Ridge for a new start, a way to change from being the quiet, introvert who was too boring for her ex-fiancé. Harper compares Zane and herself as a leopard and dust bunny, not a good fit. Zane, Mr. Causal Relationship, decides to prove her wrong and that just maybe, a leopard can change its spots. There is also a secondary love story between Zane’s dad and the manager of his diner within this story.
Ms. Ridgway is a wonderful story teller, making me feel as if I was right there and making me want to spend time in Eagle’s Ridge. Her books draw me in, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next entry in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I love the MGM movie, 7 Brides for 7 brothers, which was based on The Rape of the Sabine Women, This series has nothing to do with that- no bridal kidnappings.
I adore every book that I have read from Ms Ridgway, so jumped at the chance to read a free copy (ARC) as a member of her Facebook group. I have not read the previous 2 books, but the author gives enough background that this book can be read as a stand alone.
Eagle’s Ridge was founded by 4 ex WWI GIs. Following the tradition, most of the youth people enlisted in the armed forces. Meanwhile, two of the original 4 had a falling out and there has been a feud between the 2 families. In the first book, Navy pilot Ryder Westbrook is shot down and returns to build a airport field but needs the help of Bailey Tucker. The second book is about one of Bailey’s brother, Adam, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer who has a dream of starting a youth adventure camp in his hometown and enlists his twin’s help.
This book is about Ex Army ranger, Zane Tucker, injured and returned home to Eagle’s Ridge and started an adventure water sports business with his twin brother Adam. When he was young he had Asthma, making him much smaller and weaker than his twin. Eventually, he grew out of it- and kept growing until he surpassed his brother is size. Once he was better, his mother abandoned the family to move to Hollywood and became famous in a long running show, in which she ironically played a mother. Deep down, Zane fells she left because of him not needing her anymore. When he was a young soldier at Ft. Knox in Kentucky, he fell for a Southern belle, who allowed him to woo her, but when he asked her to marry him she told him he was too big, clumsy, loud for any woman to consider him as a husband. He therefore feels like he is a beast and destined to be alone. He won’t talk about feelings and feels like a bull in a china shop. He also has a large but timid dog, Gambler, who literally is a bull in any shop.
Shy Harper Grace left San Francisco after her fiance broke their 2 year engagement on the day she booked the chapel. He told her she was boring and he had been cheating on her for the last 6 months with 1-night stands. Now she is trying to reinvent herself as the new county librarian, to be bold. She meets Zane when Gambler literally runs her over. There is instant chemistry, but they are both gun shy. Can they overcome their baggage and lack of trust to see what is right in front of them?
This is another winner from Christie Ridgway. One negative about the series. Adam and Zane are suppose to be twins, who look very much alike, but the models on the covers of the two books look nothing alike. I know stock photos are used, but both models are on so many covers that they should have used the same model for both books. Zane was described as having dark hair, and blue green eyes.
How a person views themselves, is not necessarily how others see them. With a touch of humor and an abundance of heart and wisdom, Ms. Ridgway sets about making her presence known in an already mind blowing series. Zane is the jock, always on the lookout for his next adventure. Harper has gotten used to watching from the sidelines, now she’s ready to try something different. Less watching, more doing. She’s one step away from rethinking her approach when a matchmaking fur ball, takes a little gamble of his own. With an empowering message and an adorable cast of misfits, Christie Ridgway is on her way to stealing the show.
