There’s freedom in remembering. My past is a double-edged sword.Damned if I remember; damned if I don’t.Recollection beyond the horrors I already have will change me. Change us.But what if I’m living a lie? What if everything I believe is wrong? What if who I thought I was isn’t real?If not her, then…Who am I?Eddie says it doesn’t matter, but deep down, I’m terrified it does.I’m trapped. Held … down, I’m terrified it does.
I’m trapped. Held prisoner by a past I can’t remember and a future that may not belong to me.
There’s a light, though not at the end of the tunnel…
It’s wavering in the distance, calling to me from Rumor Island.
That light, it scares me far more than darkness. Am I brave enough to confront it?
So many questions, so few answers.
I don’t have a choice; the truth always finds a way to the surface.
Finally learning who I truly am will be a permanent life sentence.
Total punishment or absolute amnesty.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any more insane, Cambria goes and throws a ton of curve balls in Amnesty!
This book was a roller coaster of emotions! My heart kept cracking for Amnesia, every time she doubted herself or her relationship with Eddie, I just wanted to hold her! Each time a memory came back, bringing back so much pain and terror, I just hurt for her!
Such an emotional and gut wrenching story line, interlaced with suspense and mystery.
I quickly decided who would and couldn’t be trusted and my gut wasn’t wrong! The final scenes of this book before the epilogue were INTENSE!
I felt that the ending was lacking in absolute closure, particularly the fact that we never found out if the island was searched a final time and what may have been uncovered. That was my only issue with the entire book. The lack of police presence and intervention throughout the read bothered me. Given the severity of the crimes committed, I felt like there wasn’t nearly enough involvement by law enforcement in the story.
Oh be still my beating heart. I honestly didn’t want this duet to end. I fell in love with all of the characters and I want more!! Cambria, think we can get a novella of what the main two characters are up to in the future? I know we got an epilogue, but I’m not ready to say goodbye just yet.
Amnesty definitely pulls at your heartstrings. You learn more about Amnesia’s past in this book, it truly is heartbreaking. Reading what she went through is horrific, terrifying, and incredibly traumatizing. She really is a an exceptionally strong character. The trauma she went through could possibly make someone withdrawn and become a shell of who they once were. Amnesia is feisty, strong, and takes her power back. She’s a remarkable character.
The relationship between Amnesia and Eddie is quite beautiful. He’s always beside her, loves her unconditionally, and protests her fiercely. Their relationship is unbreakable; a bond so tight, no one could ever sever the tie. Not to mention how profoundly patient Eddie has always been with Amnesia. He’s compassionate, caring, and would do anything for her. The two were made for each other.
Amnesty brings the suspense too. There’s some twists in the storyline that almost give you whiplash! This duet was a thrill ride to the very end. A passionate, emotional, suspense-filled, book. One that you won’t be able to put down. I highly suggest grabbing both Amnesia and Amnesty. Cambria Hebert really outdid herself on both of these books. I’m not one to re-read books, but I may find myself re-reading this duet. Yes, it’s that good!
Man, oh man, oh man, oh man. I’m not even sure where to start with this book. It was so full of twists and turns and amazing revelations that I don’t know exactly how to put into words they way that I feel about it.
I have always been a fan of slasher movies. They’re thrilling and crazy and make you search for the truth and understanding of the story. This is how Amnesty (and the Amnesia duet in general) was for me. The book was very much like a slasher-type movie. It was thrilling and full of mystery and suspense.
Amnesty begins pretty much right where Amnesia left off. Am and Eddie are still filled with confusion about her true identity (is she or isn’t she Sadie?) and still in the throws of passion. They find themselves in an insane situation, trying to figure out who she is, and attempting to not let that affect their relationship.
In the meantime, Amnesia is still being rattled by spontaneous memories that seem to be triggered by random moments in her new life and leave her feeling defeated and weak, yet a little bit closer to the answers she so desperately seeks.
Amnesty was amazing to read because we finally got answers to every question we had from book one as well as a deeper look into what life was like for Amnesia on Rumor Island. More was revealed about Widow West and how she truly played a role in the disappearance of Amnesia and how she fit into the story thereafter. We also got to find out the identity of Him.
This book is a lot darker than a lot of Cambria’s other books. The things that are done to Amnesia are horrible and disgusting but they’re a vital part of the story and truly paint of picture of how strong Amnesia really is and how her body and mind went into survival mode to keep her alive and somewhat sane.
The Amnesia Duet is dark and haunting and a truly great read for anyone that loves thrilling, myserious books with a slasher-style quality. I really couldn’t get enough of them. Lake Loch is definitely my favorite fictional place of Cambria’s and I really, really wish I could visit it again. I can’t wait to get my hands on physical copies of these books so I can see them on my shelves. Such a great duet.
Rating: 5 Stars
This took me about a week to get through so I’m giving it 3.5 stars. I didn’t want to dnf it because I really wanted closure. I was excited to read the conclusion, I liked that we didn’t have to wait forever for it. It took me to about 30% to really get into it. I’ve never had a problem like this before with one of Cambria’s books, it made me a wee bit sad. I finally started skimming and skipping ahead because it wasn’t keeping my attention. Yes there’s an HEA but I hate that some questions were not answered. Oh well. It’s a different series which I liked, but this second book wasn’t my favorite.
WOW…Absolutely worth the wait! This book was a thrill ride..it was emotional, intense and dangerous! Poor Eddie had to deal with so much at once but remained strong and dedicated to his girl! He is romantic, possessive but most of all supportive! There are some twist and turns and not everything is as it seems but love and trust will prevail! This book was captivating and I hate to see it come to an end! I loved the characters and feeling what they went through and the struggles each one had to deal with..past, present and future!
