Book #1 in the Purge of Babylon series
ONE NIGHT. THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK.
Creatures that once lived in the shadows, hidden from humankind, have risen, spreading like a plague across the globe over the course of a single night. Their numbers growing exponentially through infection, these seemingly unkillable creatures have swallowed up whole cities and collapsed unprepared governments.
… collapsed unprepared governments.
Survivors call it The Purge.
Against all odds, a disparate group of survivors has emerged from that blood-soaked night that devastated the planet and reduced humanity to an endangered species. Among the survivors are two ex-Army Rangers, a businesswoman, and a third-year medical student. But surviving The Purge was one thing — staying alive is another matter entirely.
Hope exists in the countryside, in the form of a self-sustaining underground facility designed to withstand any calamity. But in order to reach its safety, the survivors must travel hundreds of treacherous miles, with the night – and the creatures that dwell within it — always at their backs.
The rules are simple: stay out of the dark, load up on silver bullets, and whatever you do, stay alive.
The road to salvation has begun…

It took me to a world of undead beings, ghouls, who attack in one night with unforgiving carnage! The action heroes are clever, witty, and full of clever devices to destroy the ghouls and bring back humanity. Caution, there are nine books in this series, but worth the read!

I loved this whole series and the series ‘after the purge’. It’s fast paced, witty, mysterious. I’ve loaned these books out to friends and all loved them! Pick one up, you won’t be sorry!!
Loved this book and the entire series
What a great series, finished them all along with the other story series after “The Walk Out”. Hollow is on pre-order and can’t wait for further stories in this series!!
Thanks Sam!
One of my all times favorite series. A post-apocalyptic book with the best characters and full of action. I just love it. Wishes it took me weeks to read but not to be.
apparently about zombies; don’t do zombies
Did not like it. Did not finish it. Too much trash in it.
I had never read a novel by Sam Sisavath, but I will order the others in this series. It had good writing, a few dead spots *pun intended, but thought it was good reading
very good book
This felt like a regular end of the world story but that changed when the undead began to plan their attacks. From then on it was clear something bigger was going on.
Great book with believable characters.
Part of a series
Great series
The Purge of Babylon is the first novel of survival in the series. I have only recently discovered this book; the author brings a fresh angle to the genre. Sam Sisavath is a very gifted storyteller and I am his newly devoted reader. Sam writes with the seemingly effortless creativity, depth and fluidity that keeps me reading his books. The …
This is the first book in the best series I have ever read. The writing is excellent and you will fall in love with the characters. Action packed and you won’t ever get bored. Highly recommend.
like so many books, this has a real doomsday theme. No hope, can’t believe I read to the end– kept hoping…
Wanted to add to this previously submitted review. I have now purchased, read everyone of the Books in the series, the story, characters just got better, better. An absolutely great story!!! I was there, pulled in from the first book until the last book and again very highly recommend this entire series!! I’ll be following Mr. Sisavath, his …
With Stephen King’s The Stand, the world ends with Captain Trips. In Robert McCammon’s Swan Song, it’s nuclear devastation. In Sam Sisavath’s The Purge of Babylon, humanity’s end is caused by an alien form of zombie. Only silver can permanently put them down, and if bitten, you will join them in their quest for blood, preferably fresh.
