Tobi Tobias is thrilled to be up for the Golden Storyboard award at the annual St. Louis Advertising Awards. However, a night of celebration turns to tragedy when a platform collapses, killing one of the winners. Despite saying she will stay out of it, Tobi can’t help but be pulled in when she thinks about one thing – it might have been her. But what really happened that night?
I love the Tobi and her friends, so I was thrilled to visit them again. Combined with the suspects, and we’ve got a fantastic set of characters. I did feel that one storyline got in the way of the mystery at times. It didn’t help that I felt Tobi was rather stupid when it came to that situation. However, the mystery itself was very well done, with several good twists and a surprising climax.
What a joy to get to read another Tobi Tobias Mystery!
Just when you think author Laura Bradford can’t possibly outdo herself, she does! AND DEATH GOES TO… is the best book in this series so far. All outside distraction was a mere whisper in the background as I lost myself in this wonderful tale.
The more I read of these characters, the harder it is to leave them and their world once the story is over. Protagonist Tobi is brilliant. I could spend time talking with her all day. Grandpa Stu is my guy. I simply adore him. I got to see a different side of him in this book, and just wanted to give him a hug.
Ms. Bradford always manages to bring so many levels to her stories. Laugh out loud moments, the tenderness of romance, and of course, the drama of murder. And speaking of murder…Wow! From the unique way the victim was killed (haven’t seen it in a cozy before), through the following investigation, AND DEAD GOES TOO… was nonstop twists and turns, with new suspects popping up all over! I honestly had to remind myself to keep breathing.
If you’re a fan of the Tobi Tobias mysteries, or a fan of Laura Bradford’s, you can’t miss, AND DEAD GOES TOO… And, if you haven’t read anything by this author, it’s time you do!
“And Death Goes to…” earns 5/5 Golden Trophies…Murderously Fun!
“And the nominees for are…” Tobi Tobias is thrilled and not shy to admit she hopes to win the Golden Storyboard award from the St Louis Advertising Awards for the best overall ad campaign. But like many creative awards, the competition is tight. The other nominees are all from well-established firms, and that can be intimidated. But, when Deidre Ryan’s name is announced, disappointment clouds the event. But when the staircase collapses and the award winner plummets to her death, disappointment turns to shocking disbelief. Of course, sabotage points to murder, but a big mistake is revealed making everyone question who was meant to die. Greed? Jealousy? Revenge? All top motives. However, despite the fact the Ad community can be a “cutthroat” business, Tobi feels compelled to investigate, and Grandpa Stu? He looks to join in with the rest of the gang
This third book in the Tobi Tobias Mystery is an exciting, steady-paced ADventure with well-developed and relatable characters. Laura has quite the talent of weaving together dramatic events with real-life reactions, romance, friendship, and humor making for a delightfully entertaining experience. In the background the ins and outs of advertising is explored along with the up and down dynamics between grandfather, granddaughter, and his date and nosy neighbor Martha Rapple. Fans agree making this a very popular series, and newbies, like me, needed not shy away since enough background and character connections is provided to keep you engaged.
I loved this mystery. The humor in it and the spunky characters….even or especially the grumpy, wacky one. LOL…You’ll know who I mean when you read the book. I liked the book so much that I had to read the first two books in the series before writing this review.
Toby is excited to be nominated for the Golden Storyboard Award, a big deal in the advertising world. But when the winner steps onto the platform to celebrate her winning ad it collapses and she falls to her death……
There was always something going on in this story, never a dull moment. The characters came to life and made me feel like I was taking part in this mystery. I had great time solving the murder with Toby and the gang and highly recommend this story to every cozy mystery lover.
A new series to add to my “must-read as they come out” list.
I loved And Death Goes To… at least as much as the first two books of the series. Laura Bradford has a knack for grabbing and holding my attention with an outstanding plot but she does it just as much with characters that she makes me care about. The fact that the death in the novel touches Tobi so much makes the book poignant, but the many moments of humor make it possible for me to relax and enjoy the story. Her weakness in dealing with her grandfather’s affection for her neighbor make her feel even more real. She is not blind, she is hiding from herself; something that many people do in real life. Laura Bradford writes mysteries that touch the heart and this one is a perfect example of her magic.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley. It is always a thrill to get to spend time with my “friends” ahead of the standard release date! I hope you love the book as much as I did.
