Get ready for a really emotional ride with this one. Obviously from the blurb, you already know some of the subject matter we’re dealing with with Aden but it doesn’t even scratch the surface with the overall story. Everything about the journey of Sawyer and Aden was laced with some kind of emotion. The story will tug at your heart thru its entirety … in a very good way. I wouldn’t call this book an ugly cry book, but my tears were ready to shed at all times.
Both Aden and Sawyer both have growth journeys in their road to HEA and that makes me really happy. It means that J.B. Salsbury did it right LOL Aden had to work thru his own trauma and Sawyer had to gain inner strength before they could even be what they needed for each other. JB Salsbury accomplished that perfectly and seamlessly. She developed her characters thoroughly and the story unfolded perfectly. I loved every word!
This is a great story. It’s got pain in it and some deceit but it all works out. It’s really a fantastic story.
WOW!!! This book was beautiful!!! I’ve read a few of JB Salsbury’s books, and loved them all, but this one surpasses anything else I’ve read! It has the perfect blend of hot, sexy guy and a sweet, heart-wrenching story! The characters are well-developed, the story-line was different from anything I’ve read, and there were numerous times I was either in tears or quite literally laughing out loud. If this was the first book I had ever read by this author, I would definitely be coming back for more!
I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley.com.

Wrecked was a standalone by JB Salsbury. It wasn’t my first book by the author, but it was my first standalone.
Aden Colt was ex-military suffering from PTSD. So much so that he isolated himself from just about everyone else in the world and lived on his uncle’s fishing boat. Aside from his illness, he was gorgeous, strong, sexy and all alpha male.
Sawyer Forrester was a twin. She was the conservative, risk-avoidant, organized twin while her sister was the carefree adventurous one. The two couldn’t be more different in everything except their beautiful looks.
As a favor to her sister, Sawyer was visiting the ocean town for a few weeks and was experiencing life through her sister’s eyes. That’s where she met Aden and the real story began.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from reading the book description. I knew it would be emotional but it also had an unexpected sweet and vulnerable vibe to it. Mixed in with Aden’s alpha strength and I was a goner. Both characters had some serious baggage, but in the end it was a journey of healing, acceptance, learning to thrive and love.
The book was so much more than I could put in a review. No spoilers, so no elaboration, but it was a tug of war with my emotions. Ultimately, I loved it and it was worth every evoked feeling.
I really enjoyed this book. J B Salsbury is one of my favorite writers.
Aden Colt walked away from the Army after a devastating accident took the lives of soldiers in his unit and with each step he took the survivors guilt was right there alongside of him, constantly rattling him, and taunting him. He needs something to quiet the beast raging inside of him, so he moves onto his uncle’s boat, and spends his days numbing his pain with alcohol, fishing, and his nights sharing a bed with nameless, faceless women. Drowning himself in booze numbs the pain, but the beast is still there lingering, reeking havoc on his soul, and it’s turned him into a surly man. But then a beautiful breath of fresh air wanders into his life, and turns things upside down… and suddenly he feels like he has something to look forward to!
To say that Sawyer Forrester is wound a little tight is a complete understatement, everything in her life is planned down to the letter on her schedule, and she doesn’t do it if it isn’t on the list. But then her terminally ill sister throws her for a loop when she asks to her to make an unplanned trip to San Diego to gather her belongings, and while she is there his sister wants her to throw caution to the wind and do something that isn’t planned for once. So, Sawyer reluctantly heads to San Diego, and unexpectedly meets a man that rattles her carefully world, in the best possible way!
After reading the first paragraph of this book I knew I had discovered something really special, it struck a cord with me right off, and started stirring the emotions. The touching story line grabbed a hold of me & my heart broke a little for these two characters, but little by little they gave me hope that they would be able to overcome their issues and find a little well deserved happiness. And without giving too much away I will say I was really pleased with how the story turned out, but it wasn’t without lots of hard fought hurdles along the way. Once again I am left completely in awe of the writing talents of Ms. Salsbury, she completely blew me away with this one, her beautiful story tugged on my heartstrings and left me inspired!! Highly recommend this one, it’s definitely one of the best reads I have settled down with this year!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
I am a huge fan of JB’s books, and after reading the blurb of Wrecked I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the book. It was a very emotional and heartbreaking story. I couldn’t contain my tears and had to keep tissues near me. I read this book during my vacation, so I didn’t have a lot of privacy, so I had to keep my tears on lock-down (it didn’t work). I can always depend on this author to come up with unique storylines and very interesting characters. My heart went out to both Aden and Sawyer. Both have so much baggage and are trying to survive, and I just loved seeing them heal each other. Wrecked is a beautiful but emotional contemporary romance that will have you smiling one moment and crying the next. I highly recommend this book.
Two people who are very badly damaged by tragic circumstances meet and their quirks and flaws end up creating a healing bond between them.
Sawyer Elizabeth Forrester is a twin. She and her sister Celia may look identical but they couldn’t be more different. Sawyer has always lived a safe and conservative life and suffers from a bit of OCD. Celia on the other hand has always been a free spirit – she left home at 18 to see the world and experience all that she could. When the book starts Celia is dying from brain cancer. On her deathbed she asks Sawyer to go San Diego to pretend to be her and collect her things along with make her friend believe she is ok. As Sawyer is of the tightly wound personality this is a huge struggle for her. When she gets to her sister beach cottage and has to seek out the owner for the key she meets a hard drinking surly man who is as far from her type but yet she cant stop thinking about him.
Aden Colt is a Marine who led his team on a mission where they were betrayed and everyone but him was killed. He suffers not only from PTSD but also from devastating grief on the loss of his team and friends. He came back to the states and took over running his Uncle’s cottages. He lives on his uncles boat and spends most of his days fishing, drunk and having meaningless sex. He had heard about and seen pictures of Celia from his uncle but when he meets Celia (Sawyer) she is nothing like what he’s heard about.
Even though Sawyer and Aden’s have a clash of personalities when they meet they are strangely attracted to each other and spend 2 weeks together until tragedy tears them apart again.
This was a story of is love strong enough to heal two people so immersed in their own grief that they weren’t really living until they found each other.
This one was just ok for me. Don’t get me wrong the story is good and I found myself smiling and laughing a lot. The writing is great. But I think I had a hard time connecting to Sawyer’s character. I think that characters written like her turn me off, but I still kept an open mind because despite Sawyer being afraid of everything, Aden showed her how to live in the moment. Aden was a wonderful character. The bit of his backstory was gut-wrenching and it broke my heart. He’s dealing with a lot of guilt, survivors remorse(and the sacrifice of his men) on top of his PTSD. I think JB Salsbury wrote his character so perfectly and how people judge and perceive people who serve(d) in the military. This is what made this book so great for me.
Again I did like this book. There are some real serious moments that get to you and I understood and respected Sawyer doing what she did for her sister. It is really beautiful. But still I found this book to be just ok for me. Wrecked is still a really good book.
