This book totally fucked me. I’m still scratching my head. If you love mind-trips, you are definitely going to love this one. It’s hard to write a review for this book. I mean, I’m not sure I can. I’m not entirely sure I’ve absorbed all the bits and pieces accurately. I LOVE stories that make you think, make you scramble to figure out the twists. Lily White had the last laugh with this one. I’m pretty sure she laughed like a lunatic when writing the end.
I sat there staring at my kindle like it had all the answers to life. Like, what just happened? This book is somewhat dark, but not a horror feel. It’s mystery, thriller, and intrigue. I was hooked from the beginning knowing I was in for a twisted journey. It’s going to feel like a movie playing on repeat in certain parts, but hold on, because you’ll know why when you finish. The book deals with sleep disorders, which I found new and refreshing. I wanted to put the book down and research, yet I couldn’t put the book down.
If you are a lover of psychological thrillers, this is a must read. I absolutely loved it!!! Strap on your twisted seat belt.
Jeez… I didn’t know what to make of Wake to Dream. I just didn’t. It was a total mindf*ck. Not as much as other stories I’ve read by this author or others. But still, I was completely mindf*cked. I wonder about the research the author did concerning sleep disorders, the sleep cycle, and mental illness because the character, Alice Beaumont, was so complex. At first, she might seem simple. It isn’t true. You, as the reader, are just looking at the surface. There was a lot more to the woman. Her past… Her present… Everything was merging to cause so tragic. I won’t say what occurred. This need to be read without giving out spoilers. Go in blind. The beginning is kind of slow but stick with it. Trust me. It will be worth it. So damn worth it.
Alice was a woman trapped by the nightmares of her dreams. These nightmares shaped and molded Alice, setting her apart from others. She’s seen the darkness and experienced the haunting of evil.
Tick tock time is running out for Alice…
Overall:
This is a wild story. Don’t give up on it. You might want to with its repetitive therapy sessions, but it’s relevant. I loved the mindf*ckery of Alice’s character. I thought the dream sequences were very telling.
This is the pure escape I crave. The talented words that created this twisted game was riveting.
Some scenes were disturbing, yet essential to the story. I was on pins and needles the entire time.
This was a thought provoking story. I had so many questions that I couldn’t wait to get to the end in hopes of having them answered.
Trying to determine the meaning of these dreams wasn’t easy. I allowed Lily to do the work of solving this mystery.
Whirlwind of twists and turns had my head spinning in a good way. The ending was shocking. I didn’t expect that outcome.
Lily White has been missing for the past year but believe me when I tell you she has come back better than ever !
Wake to Dream is 5*++++++++
A book that will pull you in to this twisted tale from the very start and mash your head throughout.
I am not going to go into great details about the story line because anything I refer to will give the game away and trust me you will want to experience this one for yourself.
Remember: Lily White is named The Queen of Darkness for a reason and she has proven without a shadow of doubt she still holds and wears the Crown.
Highly recommended for those who love dark, twisted mind reads.
I will firstly say, welcome back Lily White. After being out of the writing scene for approximately a year it is so good to have one of your books to read. I just love your dark mind.
In Wake To Dream I recommend that you read this book slowly and obsurb every word and take in every detail that is written because this story is going to mess with your head so much you will not know if you are coming or going.
‘When we dream are we really asleep, or awake and dreaming that we are asleep’. This is one of the questions you will be asking yourself while you’re devouring this book.
I can’t say much more about this book without giving away spoilers but if you love a book that keeps you on edge, makes you question what you are reading to be the reality in life or the subconscious of dreams and offers many twists with the biggest twist of all at the end then Wake To Dream is a must.
Lily’s back and in fine form. Mind f@&k at its best
5″Don’t Wake me” stars
Apparently Lily had been ill for the most of this year. Getting treatment. Whatever the hell she took……it tuned her already devious brain to absolute razor sharpness. And she’s conjured this masterpiece.
I’m astounded !
All through the book, I highlighted lines, passages, instances.
They’re all for nothing. Zero. Zilch !
The story of Maximillian Frost and Alice Beaumont turned on its axis 4 times .
Four. Whopping. Times!!!. It’s completely what you would NEVER EVER guess!. Alice’s brain plays tricks on her. She’s a victim of abuse in her childhood that triggers sleep disorders. She sleepwalk’s , becomes violent, thrashes about, harms people.
She meets Max and her brain shot wires into confusing Dreams with reality. It’s like she’s in a box thrown down the stairs. She somersaults and her up is bottom many times till she’s completely lost.
So are we!!!
“Whereas his youth had created in him something fierce and volatile, hers had created in her something fearful and timid. Two halves of the same whole, two souls that carried with them the turmoil of a life abused at the hands of the people who should have cared for them the most.”
One of the finest brains I’d like to pick ( tho I’d be trembling) would be Lily’s , if I ever have the privilege of meeting. I’m in awe!
This one will be short review because I am not real sure how to review without spoilers.
Alice Beaumont is a woman who lives with sleep disorders since she was a child.
When her sister goes missing, Alice dreams take on a whole new meaning, Alice believes her dreams are the key to her missing sister.
In this book we live through Alice talking to a Doctor about her dreams and what they really mean.
I was hooked from the start trying to work everything out. It messed with my head but the book pulls you in. and you just have to keep going to find out what is going on.
It’s a Psychological Thriller that will keep you guessing till the end. I finished this book early hours of the morning I couldn’t put it down till I had finished.
Lily is back with a bang and I really can’t wait to read what she has next for us.
A gripping, emotional, brilliantly written psychological crime thriller. A total, all consuming mindf$@k
I was on pins and needles about what was real and what was a dream until the very end!!!!
Every page unfolded another piece of an intricate piece of a puzzle, and when you get to the end, you’re left with a masterpiece you had no idea was going to end up the way it did.
What can I say I to describe this book except, it’s “phenomenalicious”!!
The monsters that haunt us in our dreams come out to play, taking over our psyche.
What’s reality and what’s a dream?
Who’s the monster?
Who’s the victim?
The story of Alice and Max can be anyone who’s endured horrible abuse and how they coped with those nightmares.
Who the monsters are is up to you to decide.
I haven’t slept trying to finish this book and it surpassed all my expectations!!
A must read!!
