I have enjoyed this series but I felt it ended a little abrupt.
Another great read for us from Lexi Blake. The more I read her books, the more that I fall in love with each one of them.
I always pick a favorite character that I love more than the others, and this time around mine is going to be Shelby.
Why? So many reasons she was intelligent, patient, kind, smart, protective, had a sense of humor was driven but most of all she was just a loving and giving person who always put others first. She cared about their needs and wants before her own. I loved the chemistry she had with Drew as there was always sexual tension between the two of them right from their first meeting even before they were together. Their sexual encounters were super hot as well as sensual. I loved how she was always making bargains with Drew in order to turn things in her favor, but all along just playing along as she wanted the same things Drew did.
Sneaky little vixen!
Drew on the other hand was the total opposite of Shelby. I found him to be more of a *ss most of the time, protective of his siblings, dangerous, powerful, smart sexy as sin, just really sex on a stick. As the story progressed, I thought that he was less than an a** and more just socially awkward in dealing with women and messy feelings. I felt that he was lonely, not necessarily unhappy, just that he needed someone to love and care about him be and be an equal partner for him and give him hell when he needed a shove. I loved how he always thought about is brothers and sister’s happiness before his own. He was so protective of them, god help the person trying to hurt them.
Shelby and Drew made an awesome team when it came to trying to prove that his mother murdered his father now that Drew knows that she is alive and gunning for him and his family yet again.
This story had so much going on to keep your interest. And we loved it from cover to cover. We dealt with the ups and downs with Drew’s ongoing relationship with Shelby as he messes up time and time again as he just isn’t good and the relationship thing. The twists and turns the story took, the surprises that popped up. I loved the siblings and their spouses and all their different personalities that added humor to the story that had you laughing out loud. Big Tag made me laugh more than once. Definitely a consent favorite of mine throughout the series. Loved how strong the women were in this story whether they carried the name Gates, Lawless, or Taggart. This for me is the type of story that you could go on and on about the things that you loved most about it and definitely goes into the keeper pile where I am sure that I will read time and time again.
Looking forward to reading the rest in this series as well.
5 stars from us !
Drew just about broke my heart! I mean, he did some not so smart things, but he had so many emotions he didn’t know what to do with. He also did so many things with such good intentions, just poor execution. He was so lucky his siblings knew him and loved him. Now, Shelby took a while to catch on to the workings of the mind of Drew Lawless, and even then, he tripped her up a few times. Watching Drew and Shelby pull it all together in the end was simply so satisfying!
This was a gripping read right from the beginning and it didn’t let up until the last page. I really enjoyed the complexity of the characters & the main storyline is very evolved and well developed. This story line is actually set up in Ms. Blake’s Master’s and Mercenaries series book 11: Dominance Never Dies. (Altho, I didn’t discover that book until I had read all three of the Lawless series.) It’s not necessary to have read Dominance Never Dies first, but it is a prequel of sorts & does give some background information on the siblings. This first book in the Lawless series is a roller coaster of emotions from sadness, anger, suspense, to happiness (and not necessarily in that order) It was this roller coaster that kept me from being able to put it down until the very end.
Lexi Blake is such an amazing and phenomenal writer. Her characters are fully fleshed out, they are relatable and damn if you won’t end up wishing they were real!!
Blake never disappoints.
Shelby is an investigative reporter and has been looking into the murder/suicide of Bennett and Iris Lawless. She wants to write a book and tell what really happened. Drew is the oldest of the Lawless siblings and is a computer nerd and a billionaire. He is socially awkward and not very romantic. He draws up a NDA for Shelby to sign. They are investigating his parents death but he doesn’t want his brothers or sister to know. She has to also agree to be his girlfriend and go to social functions with him and be the doting girlfriend. Drew has found the one person who doesn’t back down from him and it’s a major turn on for him. But he has trust issues and at the littlest infraction he thinks Shelby has done, he blows up. The more they dig, the more dangerous it gets.
Spectacular story. I laughed, I about cried, and I wanted to yell at them. A hunky billionaire and a red haired reporter but when they get together, the sparks fly high and bright. Action, mystery, sex, and family.
Wow! There were more twists and turns in this book than the road to Hana, Maui! Lexi Blake is a truly remarkable author. From the series onset we always knew there would be a showdown over the deaths of Benedict and Iris Lawless. Drew has been driving the bus toward the showdown from the beginning. What he didn’t count on was Shelby Gates and the feelings she evoked in him. The master of manipulation, Drew makes Shelby an offer she can’t refuse. What he didn’t count on was her crawling under his skin and manipulating his life in all the best ways. Try as he might, even though he sends her away, he can’t get her out of his head and heart.
Lots of surprises in this book. Trust me, you either can’t or won’t put this book down. Lexi Blake is a master storyteller and my favorite author. She never fails to meet expectations and usually exceeds them!
Revenge had so much going on! A steamy romance, corporate espionage, and the Lawless murder-mystery resolution, there was never a dull moment! I was glued to my kindle up to the very last page!
I enjoyed the suspense plot of Revenge and how much closure was brought to so many plot threads. I also loved knowing more about the inner workings of Drew and Shelby’s relationship. Their connection was obvious from the start with plenty of banter, innuendo, and steam that flowed from one page to the next. Shelby’s feisty personality and sassy independence kept things lively and she definitely kept Drew on his toes around her!
There was also plenty of relationship advice and sarcastic humor courtesy of McKay-Taggart Security and the Lawless siblings. Payback is in the air as it seemed like everyone poked their noses into Drew’s relationship hiccups with Shelby! Drew was definitely suffering karma flashbacks to his own role in his siblings rocky roads to romance!
Revenge was a thrilling end to the Lawless trilogy! Lexi Blake writes characters that seem larger than life but have an endless capacity for friendship, love, and familial support. The men are just the right blend of sarcastic, protective, sexy alphas and the women are intelligent, feisty, and independent heroines. Needless to say, Andrew Lawless and Shelby Gates were right up my alley! Revenge was an impressive package of steamy romance, humor, high suspense, and shocking surprises you don’t want to miss! This is a series I will happily recommend to romantic suspense readers!
I love this series so much. This series has incredible writing and draws you into these books.
Great conclusion to an super series. Boy the twist and turns kept me guessing for sure. That’s the kind of story I love.
