Lake Jones is a cover girl for cutting-edge prosthetic legs, a binge-watcher of Netflix, known to spy on her neighbor through her door’s peephole, and fond of laser games with her hairless cat. She’s also a bit sexually-frustrated.
Until …
God bestows a breath of mercy upon her in the form of Minnesota’s NFL starting quarterback. But this gift is no stranger. Lake met Cage Monaghan three … Monaghan three years earlier.
It was one day.
One moment.
One kiss that resurrected her dreams of finding love.
His dimpled smile distracts from his imperfections, which include: a love for country music, fishing, and a feline-hating girlfriend.
When life finally gives them their chance, it’s a humorous and heart-wrenching journey to find their place in the world.
“We would be Cage and Lake. We would be unpredictable. We would be reckless. We would give normality the middle finger.”
***This book is a standalone. However, it is HIGHLY recommended that any readers who have not, but may consider, reading the Jack & Jill Series, do so before reading this book. It contains spoilers to Jack & Jill.

Jewel E. Ann has outdone herself yet again. After reading the Jack & Jill series I didn’t think it was possible but she succeeded. One was spectacular!! I’m on cloud nine now! I’m so in love with these characters, not just Lake and Cage but everyone from the Jack & Jill series.
Before reading One I strongly suggest that you read the Jack & Jill series. It’s a must! Because of the story and the fabulous characters. You will love One even more. I sure as hell did. I fell in love with the characters all over again. It also made me appreciate Ann’s brilliant mind. Her writing and storytelling is in a league of her own. Even the simplest words evoked so many emotions within me. It’s incredible! I kept highlighting page after page. Her words were that addictive and magical. I felt hypnotized cause I wouldn’t or couldn’t take my eyes off the pages, afraid I would miss a word or a sentence.
Lake and Cage’s love story was nothing more than a masterpiece! They were phenomenal. I loved how Cage SAW Lake for her beauty, for who she was and not her disability. The same can be said for Lake. Cage was her one chance for love again and in her eyes he wasn’t the big hot shot NFL star. They were just Lake and Cage. Their love was inspiring and so god damn beautiful. Their relationship was intense, romantic and funny as hell. I easily felt their chemistry when they first met in Dawn Of Forever. It was even more apparent in One, which only made me giddy as hell. I loved that it was told in both Lake and Cage’s POV. Their love was intoxicating and all consuming. Every moment in this story was important and earth shattering. I appreciated and loved the references to when they first met. It also played a huge part in there relationship. Just genius!
I was happy that I got more of Luke and Jessica. More than I could even imagine. So damn satisfied. Also another reason to read the Jack & Jill series.
Jewel E. Ann is a brilliant storyteller. I’ve read five books of hers and I’m just in awe of her talent. She’s a genius with words, knows how to captivate me and tickle my taste buds just the right way.
In my eyes One is a masterpiece! My masterpiece! I loved every thing about this story and its characters. It was beautifully written. I wanted to lick the words off the pages. One deserves more than five stars. It’s just that good! It’s phenomenal!

You can’t go wrong with a Jewel E. Ann book. A spin-off from the Jack & Jill series, ONE is no exception. She never fails to write hilarious yet complex and compassionate characters. Cage Monaghan and Lake Jones are characters that feel so real. The banter is off the charts. The love is deep. The heartache is painful. The angst is nerve wracking. But through it all, the story is so moving and entertaining. Smiles, giggles, heat, connection, swoons, sass – it’s all that and more. Secondary characters that are more than just stand-ins. They enhance the love story and journey that Cage and Lake are on. ONE is a standalone, but I highly recommend you start with the Jack & Jill series. First, it’s an amazing series but it is also where you first meet Cage and Lake in the third book, Dawn of Forever. It’s a piece of their history that will show you why their story needed to be written. And I’m so happy that Jewel did because ONE is fantastic.
OH MY GOODNESS!! Jewel has done it again. She mixes amazing romance with witty banter in such a unique writing style that leaves you begging for more. If you have no read the Jack & Jill series.. Grab it now before you pick up this beauty. In that series you will be introduced to Lake and Cage. This is an extension off of that as there will be spoilers if you go back afterward to read.
These two were just amazing together. The banter these two had was amazing and their chemistry even spicier than before! I love how Lake is who she is. No cover no nothing. What you see is what you get and it is one spunky, outspoken lady who does not take missing her leg as a reason to lay down. She gives as good as she gets and ohhhh boy does she ever! Cage is just sexy but so down to earth regardless of what he does in life. He is drawn to Lake and I love how they play off of each other! There are a lot of ups and downs for these two with interesting twists and turns! It keeps you guessing and keeps you wanting to read more!
Overall this book flowed so well that when I was done, I was wanting to cry because I needed more. The character build was amazing and you get to see so many sides to all the characters. Hands down one of my top reads of 2016!
I just realized I never reviewed this amazing story so I’m taking a moment to do so.
This story is a spin-off of the “Jack and Jill” series. Because of the way it’s written, I recommend reading Jack and Jill first – it will give you a much better understanding feelings and events that take place in ONE.
Lake and Cage – wow – what a pair these two make. He is a professional football player and she is also a professional athlete disguised as a superhero who tests outs prosthetic legs while she scales rock walls and swims miles and miles. She is also a professional at “peephole Olympics” and likes to keep herself occupied with her neighbor who she has lovingly nicknamed “Kong” (so looking forward to reading his story in the future).
Lake and Cage have a past. A past that is very brief but very is integral in how they interact with each other a few years later. It was “one day, one kiss, one moment, one unforgettable memory.”
This story is told with romance and humor and a hairless cat. It’s sexy and swoon-worthy and proof that one should never settle for less.
As with all of Jewel E Ann’s books, I highly recommend this entertaining story.
Standalone, but you are seriously robbing yourself of a fantastic book series if you don’t start the Jack and Jill series first…plus there are some spoilers in this book for that series, so just start with End of Day, you will wholeheartedly thank me!
Cage…I felt really sorry for him after all that happened with AJ so I was happy to see he was getting a book with my second favorite Jones sibling, Lake. Cage and Lake had a moment in the Jack and Jill series but the timing was the pits. And although Lake obsessively followed Cage’s last year of football at Nebraska, she let him go and moved on. Fast forward and after all the dust has settled, Lake has moved to Minnesota…and she seems terribly lonely, but Lake seems to be exerting her independence. “Ben died. I lived.” When she strikes up a weird/stalker-ish/relationship by peephole with her neighbor she has no idea she’s taken one step closer to reuniting with Cage Monaghan, as Everson, her neighbor plays pro football with Cage in Minnesota! As their love story unfolds, chapter by chapter, they face setbacks and hardships like any relationship. Their journey is beautiful and emotional and real. It’s exactly the story you hope for when two people who are no strangers to loss get together.
Lake is a quirky character and she’s so funny! When she’s with Cage it’s like she has verbal diarrhea of the most embarrassing type! Cage is so incredibly sweet, I mean, don’t get me wrong, he’s a MAN now but he’s a sweetheart to the core. Once again Jewel delivers secondary characters who just give and give and give to the story. Thad, Jerry, Flint, Everson, Jamie, Shayna and we even get Felicity and Tom Jones for an encore and of course, some Jessica and Luke 🙂 I would love to know more about Flint!!! My interest is definitely peaked there! Great read!
Ladies, there’s a new bbf in town and his name is Cage Monaghan…and he is EVERYTHING , everything I tell ya! I want to be loved the way he loves Lake.
One is pretty much perfection in my book- I adored every single thing about it. Every.Single.Thing. I want to hold this book and hug it and never let it go.
Lake and Cage are the ultimate, ideal couple. I love strong, independent, fiesty female characters and Lake was all that and more. Cage, God, what to say about Cage without drooling all over myself. He’s perfection personified, he really and truly is. He’s kind and caring, he loves with his whole being. I want him for myself. But not really, because he’s the one for Lake.
Jewel has completely outdone herself with this book.
