My life revolved around two things. Football and my cock. And not necessarily in that order.
Being the head football coach for a top university in Texas had its ups and its downs.
The ups? Endless women to f*ck.
The downs? The politics that came with the job.
From the moment Aubrey Cain walked into my office, she turned my world upside down. Being … she turned my world upside down. Being forced to have her follow me around for a month was going to be a pain in the ass. Especially since I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her.
The best I’d hoped to come out of this was a few nights with her in my bed. I never imagined she’d be the game changer.
Brett Owens was my assignment.
Head football coach for a top college, bad boy reputation, short temper, and handsome good looks should have scared me off. But I was tougher than that.
From the first words out of his obnoxious, dirty-talking mouth, I knew it was going to be a long month. It wasn’t five minutes after meeting him, he hit on me. If only I had known his blue eyes would haunt my dreams and awaken a desire inside of me I never knew existed.
This was business. There was no way I would be tempted by him no matter how good looking he was or how many things he whispered in my ear.
He was only supposed to be my assignment. Not the man who threatened to destroy both my heart and my career. I would follow along with his playbook for now. But who would end up winning was anyone’s guess.
The Playbook is a stand-alone novel.

They say love is a game. The Playbook definitely had me flipping back and forth between teams. I felt like a newbie trying to decide loyalties.
Am I Team Owens? Or Team Cain? Honestly, it changed based on the chapter. I was cheerleader to both and the audience gawking at an injury when they did something stupid.
Some plays were magnificent, others left me shaking my head. But regardless of my changing loyalties, I knew what I wanted as a final score.
In the End, I’m sure you’ll agree that Team Owens has the better players…(shameless flirty smile)
Again, another great book by Kelly. Brett is such a dirty talker!!! Aubrey really had her hands full with Brett. Written well but did have a few grammatical mistakes. Can’t wait to read another book from Kelly.
I’ve already reviewed this book. But, again, after a slow and seemingly obvious plot, it turned out to be great storytelling! I enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
Different take on the rom com. Liked the female character having some balls. She weakened a little too much at the end but still a good read.
The Playbook by Kelly Elliott is an amazing novel that everyone needs to read!!!
Every novel by Kelly Elliott keeps getting better and better. I have loved every single novel, and this is no exception.
The football aspect of this novel was one of the initial things that drew me in. I am so happy that it completely lived up to my expectations. The characters of Aubrey and Brett instantaneously made me fall in love with their story.
I highly recommend this novel to everyone!! You will not regret reading!
5/5 Stars!
Enjoyed it
Amazing book by Kelly Elliot. Loved the story of both Aubrey and Brett. A little bit of football, horses and southern charm. Little bit of mystery too! Great story line.
Well I totally Love the story between Aubrey and Brett.. Brett pretty much had it all, he did well in football all through school and it carried onto College and so on. Now he is the head College Football Coach at the University of Austin, bring home the championship for a few years now. But being the best has a price and that means who you thought was your true friend turns out not to be. He has a reputation as a player with women and he isn’t shy about it at all. Aubrey has always dreamed of being a sideline reporter for ESPN with the NFL division. That’s her goal and she is sticking to it. These two meet when she is assigned to shadow Brett to get the scoop of what makes him as good as a coach as he is but also who he is outside of coaching. The Chemistry fly’s between them, but will they be able to keep their hands off each other. Someone is out to ruin Brett and thr reporter in Aubrey wants to help. This story has you laughing , you feel the heartbreak and you feel the powerful love two people have for one another, but there are many obstacles in their way, their jobs and oh they live in different States, can they find a common ground to make this work or will they let go of the best thing that has ever happen to them. Grab The Playbook and get lost in this incredible story.
So Kelly Elliott has done it again!!!
She has given us a great book with an interesting storyline and wonderful characters.
I have to be honest….this book does have a different feel from the other Kelly Elliott books I have read. Yes she gave us a story with all the usual drama, Yes she gave us the sweet love story, and of course we got the HUNKY Hero, but what made this feel different to me was that it wasn’t an over the top gushy love story. Brett and Aubrey had to work at things.
Their journey wasn’t an easy one.
Also I had a hard time liking Brett in the beginning. Usually I fall for her Heroes immediately…..that was not the case with Brett. But by the end of the book, I loved him just as much as her other Heroes. I will say I that I believe Aubrey is one of the strongest heroines Kelly has given us. She wasn’t all broken and needing to find herself. She was strong and knew what she wanted out of life. I really LOVED Aubrey!!!
As with all of Kelly’s books the writing was effortless and the pace was perfect. The Playbook is a standalone novel with a completed story. This book actually felt longer than some of her other books, but it never dragged. The storyline was interesting enough to keep my intrigued all the way through. I will be honest that, at closer to the end of the story, there is a part that I really didn’t like in the book and didn’t think it was necessary for the storyline, (hint: Logan) but it didn’t take away from my complete enjoyment of this book. I just thought it could’ve been left out.
As with all of Kelly’s books, I get sucked into the story and her characters lives. The Playbook was NO different. I found it really hard to put down once I started.
I would 100% recommend this book to everyone who likes a great sports romance. This was a different type of spin on your usual sports romance story. If you are a fan of Kelly’s books you won’t want to miss this standalone novel. And if Kelly is a new author to you, then I think The Playbook is a great place to start your journey into her stories.
Very good read. I would recommend this to friends
As soon as I finished it I reccomended this book to my wife. Great book! I want to read more books like this one. Very steamy chemistry between two main characters! Throughly enjoyed this book!
