Scarlett Goodwin’s world is divided into Before and After.
Before she agreed to tutor Tucker Price, college junior Scarlett was introvert, struggling with her social anxiety disorder and determined to not end up living in a trailer park like her mother and her younger sister. A mathematics major, she goes to her classes, to her job in the tutoring lab, and then hides in the apartment she shares … she shares with her friend, Caroline.
After junior Tucker Price, Southern University’s star soccer player enters the equation, her carefully plotted life is thrown off its axis. Tucker’s failing his required College Algebra class. With his eligibility is at risk, the university chancellor dangles an expensive piece of computer software for the math department if Scarlett agrees to privately tutor him. Tucker’s bad boy, womanizer reputation makes Scarlett wary of any contact, let alone spending several hours a week in close proximity.
But from her first encounter, she realizes Tucker isn’t the person everyone else sees. He carries a mountain of secrets which she suspects hold the reason to his self-destructive behavior. But the deeper she delves into the cause of his pain, the deeper she gets sucked into his chaos. Will Scarlett find the happiness she’s looking for, or will she be caught in Tucker’s aftermath?

Wow talk about emotional rollercoaster!
Anxious test strong blunt nerd vs troublemaking jock. The emotional demons they battle and grew up with.
This book kept me on edge with intense fees of what will happen next. How’s it going to end? Will they end up together? Can they get past their own demons?
I’m used to Denise’s Mystery series and these …
This is the first book in the series. Scarlett and Tucker are great characters. They seem so different yet once they get to know each other, they belong together. This is a great young adult novel. I enjoyed reading it.
This is a sweet book with a bit of ups and downs. I really think Scarlett is going to be my daughter. I think there was a couple of turns I wasn’t expecting but it all turned out in the end. A must read.
What an underrated series by Denise Grover Swank! The Off the Subject series does not get the attention or accolades it deserves. Aftermath was such a pleasant surprise! It follows the story of Scarlett and Tucker, two college students who could not be more different. Scarlett is an introverted math major, while Tucker is the popular soccer star. …
Loved it, as I always do with her books! Light and simple and just what I needed! Scarlett grows so much throughout this book. Tucker really brought Scarlett out of her shell. I love the chemistry between these two. They’re not the average couple that you would expect to be paired together!
After Math is such a great book about two complete opposites becoming attracted to one another. Their unexpected romance is so sweet. This book, much like every other Denise Grover Swank book, is a page turner! There are unexpected twists and turns in the plot keeping the reader on their toes. A great book to begin a great series!
3.5stars
I’ve heard of a new genre emerging called ‘New Adult’ & I would definitely slot this offering from DGS into it.
Set in a university, a nerdy maths genius is tasked with offering extra tutoring to a failing jock.
Not surprisingly the dark secrets & hidden pasts mean things are never a simple as boy meets girl etc, and as much as I …
I read this series a really long time ago. I was recently looking for something to read and thought I would re-read this series. I can’t believe I never reviewed it then! This book (and whole series) is fantastic. I really liked Scarlet in this book. It’s definitely a cute heartwarming story.
4.5 stars…I normally do not read romance novels but I love all of Denise’s other books and I needed a book for a reading challenge. I am really glad that I gave this book a chance because I really enjoyed it! Many of the character’s issues were very relatable to me and it was an enjoyable book. I love Scarlett and Tucker. I rarely read …
Let’s get off the subject here, shall we?!
Scarlett Goodwin is a self proclaimed math geek. Having had a rough childhood making a plan and sticking to it has always been her game plan. That is until Tucker Price came into the equation. Tucker is a soccer super star that just happens to be a player off the field too. But when failing isn’t an …
I loved After Math and could not put it down! Everything in this book worked for me. I love Scarlett and Tucker’s friendship. I also engrossed in their growth and their struggles to work through their trust and abandonment issues together and separately. I am excited to start Caroline’s story next.
