It was the weekend before Thanksgiving. More than 100,000 fans were jammed inside Michigan Stadium, on their feet, to witness a heated football rivalry that had spanned more than 100 years. As the football was kicked into the snow-filled sky, they were about to get the shock of their lives, as long-foretold Bible prophecy came to pass before their very eyes, causing many to vanish into thin air … air without a trace.
But what they soon realized was that it reached far beyond Michigan Stadium. Chaos of unimaginable proportions ensued worldwide. Shock, fear and panic filled each heart and mind. It was just the beginning of things to come, as life as humanity had known it was forever changed in the blink of an eye…
FYI: What started the Chaos in the Blink of an Eye series for Higgins stems from his deep love of sports, which, he admits has diminished considerably over the years. He still enjoys watching and attending sporting events whenever he has the time. But these days he views them from an entirely different perspective than when he wore a younger man’s face and displayed a weaker man’s faith in God.
This slow but gradual shrinking away started soon after Higgins was saved. The Lord impressed upon his heart that the fastest growing religion in America, and the world for that matter, wasn’t Christianity or Islam, but “sports”. Every day of the week—including Sundays—millions of fans fill stadiums and arenas (or shall I say cathedrals?) worldwide to worship their heroes.
Whatever the sport, fans show up in droves to cheer on mere mortals as if they were gods. When their teams win life is good. When they lose life is miserable. As a once-guilty participant for many years, Higgins should know.
The passion most fans have for their favorite players and sports teams is the same passion they should have in pursuing the One who saw their unformed bodies from the foundations of the world, the very One who knit them together inside their mothers’ wombs. Tragically, this is not the case. Hence, the reason for the CHAOS series.
The sporting event Higgins chose for the story was the famed Michigan-Ohio State college football rivalry. Prior to writing the prequel, he traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to attend the game. He admits to being just as caught up in the mass hysteria as everyone else. Higgins said it was impossible not to be swept up into the vortex that had completely engulfed the vibrant college town.
The energy was quite palpable. So much so that Higgins had to remind himself more than once that he was there to research and observe everything connected to the game, then put it all into words for his readers. The sporting event itself was secondary.
Though the prequel initially centers on the football game, in no way is this a sports series. If you decide to read it for yourself—and we hope you will—this will become quite clear to you when Bible prophecy comes to pass inside Michigan Stadium. Many suddenly vanish into thin air, leaving everyone still inside the stadium utterly panic-stricken. It was just the beginning of things to come, as life as humanity had known it was forever changed in the blink of an eye…

It is a typical time for people as they prepare for the Thanksgiving holidays. There is a lot of hustle and bustle going on. No one is focused on anything but getting ready for the big family get together coming up. They all have agendas and are rushing to get things done. I enjoyed reading and getting to know the characters in the book.
Just below the surface of our existence something is looming. No one knows when it will happen, but as prophesied in the bible, the rapture is coming.. The author prepares us for the beginning of what will become chaotic, scary, and unpredictable. We are not guaranteed one moment on this earth. In a blink of an eye, a second in time everything will change. I liked how the author gets readers engaged enough in the story to want to continue the series. I will be reading the next in this explosive series eagerly awaiting what happens to the characters.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Chaos in the Blink of an Eye
A very short read to get you hooked in to the series. I am definitely wandering what the other are like.
Friends were getting together to go see a special ball game. We get to know a lot of characters, Tamika drives a cab while trying to make ends meet. Justin is a new Christian ready to share about the Lord to his friends. Will he get to do it.
Kinda seems like a series close to the Left Behind books. I did like the first few books of that series. I will be putting the rest of this series by Patrick Higgins on my list to read. This Prequel grabs your attention to want to know more about the characters.
I received an complementary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
This another ongoing series that I am absolutely crazy about. I love reading different viewpoints on the “Tribulation” that is to come upon all the Earth, and this Author has made his series a real page turning adventure with all kinds of characters and their beliefs or unbelief in a sound Christian doctrine. The latest installment (book 5) had some unsettling circumstances happen to unbelievers, but we know what is written in “Revelation” will come to pass, and that many will be deceived. Wonderful series as with other books this Author has written, I find his books written with Christian principals refreshing from so many books that have so much sexual content or violence included in the material. I have read all five so far, the series is supposed to be about 10 books. Look up Patrick Higgins work, I think you will enjoy his storytelling.
Way too much character buildup, very boring. Very little related to actual event. Very disappointed in this book.
