Jake and Maya have always been best friends. However Jake getting serious with his current girlfriend leave Maya feeling off. Jake knows his change with Maya has come and gone, so now he tries to be content being her best friend. When Border shows up back in town it changes everything. To be honest I wasn’t sure about this book since it was a relationship between three people. Since it was Maya and Jake though I had to read it because I have been waiting for this book since the first time we met them. It’s a different concept then a two person relationship but it was very well done. I am very glad I didn’t skip it just because it was something I wasn’t use to.
I like the characters in the Montgomery Ink series. Each of their storylines start out intriguing and makes me want to know how they end. This is what keeps me listening, not how good the books are in the series. The books are OK.
Each book seems to end up the same way. Some type of traumatic occurrence that starts and ends so fast you could miss it. The seemingly strong heroine ends up being insecure and needy. It is almost like the character morphs into another person. The strong, tough hero does the same thing.
Whatever the trauma or tragedy is for each couple, the pattern doesn’t change much. I was really expecting more from the triad, but that was disappointing too. I was really hoping for more. Even the narration ends up being somewhat bland. I don’t understand why the story falls off from being interesting.
I still plan to finish finding out what happens with the other Denver Montgomery siblings. I also still recommend people read or listen to them and judge for themselves.
I LOVE this series!! Each book makes me want to read another.
I love all the Montgomery’s and their “kinks”. The Border story mine threw me off. I had no issues with their triad. I just really wanted it to be Maya and Jake. There was really no back story for Border so it was hard to understand the “connection”. I feel like the Maya and Jake from past stories was lost. Their relationship was over shadowed by Border. The triad just didn’t truly work for me. This was the first book I struggled to read. I held Maya and Jake up on such a high pedestal. Throwing Border in the mix—i just didn’t get it. But I guess in the end Maya is Maya freaking Montgomery and does what she pleases.
Ink Enduring definitely took me by surprise. I was waiting to see Maya Montgomery and Jake Gallagher finally get together but I was not expecting Carrie Ann Ryan to turn it into a Ménage romance. I loved the way Ryan put this story together. It feels like you get the best of both worlds in one book. You have the longtime friendships turned into romantic relationships and the new kindling romance between two strangers.
Border was this mysterious new guy that shows up in Maya’s life but for Jake it’s a part of his past finally coming home. I think his strong, dominating personality helps this trio feel whole. Jake is a sweetheart with a more sensitive personality out of the bunch. Maya, being the sassy tough girl, just adds something special to this story. All the surprises in this book definitely made the story interesting. The characters were genuine that I just couldn’t get enough. I never thought I would actually like a book that had male on male scenes but Ryan has a way with words to make me fall in love with every relationship in this Ménage.
Seems like I have been waiting for this book since we first were introduced to the Montgomery clan by Carrie Ann Ryan. I knew that Maya was different and that she has something more going with her best friend than just being a best friend but boy did I get blown out of the water by what. I do know know what it is about gals with the name Maya but everyone know I know how the same that no prisoners attitude. This Maya fits they bill and more!
Jake…Jake…Jake oh what can I say about Jake other than I would love to run into this name in a dark alley, or a bus stop, tattoo shop anywhere as long as I was by myself. You can tell he cares deeply for Maya and that inside he simple cares DEEPLY.
Then there is the dark horse Border. I was not to sure what to think about this third wheel so to speak who shows up out of nowhere. It took me a bit to get him pictured in my mind (which is important for me as reader) but once I did i was firing on all cylinders.
The way that Carrie Ann Ryan wrote this story was so believable that you could see it happening in the here and now. Not just inside her wonderful head. She made it seem so read it made you wonder if she sat outside someone’s home, office, restaurant and tattoo shop and just watched and wrote down what they did every moment of the day and night.
This book rates higher than a 5 star for me but since that is all I can give it on rating scale …. As always I highly suggest reading the rest of the books so you get to meet the Montgomery clan and understand the ins and outs but it is not necessary to understand this book.
